Effects of Wei Chang An on expression of multiple genes in human gastric cancer grafted onto nude mice

AIM： To investigate the expression of multiple genes in Chinese jianpi herbal recipe Wei Chang An （WCA） in human gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901. METHODS： A human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line SGC-7902 grafted onto nude mice was used as the animal model. The mice were randomly divided into 3 groups, one control and the two representing experimental conditions. Animals in the two experimental groups received either WCA over a 34-d period or 5-fluorouracil （5-fu） over 6-d period starting at 8th d after grafting. Control animals received saline on an identical schedule. Animals were killed 41 d after being grafted. The expression profiles in paired WCA treated gastric cancer samples and the N.S. control samples were studied by using a cDNA array representing 14181 cDNA clusters. The alterations in gene expression levels were confirmed by Real-time Quantitative polymerase chain reaction （qPCR）. RESULTS： When compared with controls, the average tumor inhibitory rate in WCA group was 44.32% ± 5.67% and 5-fu 47.04% ± 22.33% （P 〈 0.01, respectively）. The average labeling index （LI） for PCNA in WCA group and 5-fu group was significantly decreased compared with the control group. Apoptotic index （AI） was significantly increased to 9.72% ± 4.52% using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate fluorescence nick end labeling （TUNEL） method in WCA group compared with the controls 2.45% ± 2.37%. 5-fu group was also found to have a significantly increased AI compared with the controls. The expression of cleaved Caspase-3 in WCA group and 5-fu group was significantly increased compared with the control group respectively. There were 45 different expressed sequence tags （ESTs） among the control sample pool and WCA sample pool. There were 24 ESTs up-regulated in WCA samples and 21 ESTs down-regulated. The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas,one of the most exploited molluscs in the world,has suffered from massive mortality in recent decades,and the occurrence mechanisms have not been well *** this study,to reveal the relationship of associated microbiota to the fitness of oysters,temporal dynamics of microbiota in the gill,hemolymph,and hepatopancreas of *** during April 2018-January 2019 were investigated by 16 S rRNA gene *** microbiota in *** exhibited tissue heterogeneity,of which Spirochaetaceae was dominant in the gill and hemolymph while Mycoplasmataceae enriched in the ***-occurrence network demonstrated that the gill microbiota exhibited higher inter-taxon connectivity while the hemolymph microbiota had more *** richness(Chao 1 index)and diversity(Shannon index)of microbial community in each tissue showed no significant seasonal variations,except for the hepatopancreas having a higher richness in the ***,beta diversity analysis indicated a relatively stable microbiota in each tissue during the sampling period,showing relative abundance of the dominant taxa exhibiting temporal *** indicate that the microbial community in *** showed a tissue-specific stability with temporal dynamics in the composition,which might be essential for the tissue functioning and environmental adaption in *** work provides a baseline microbiota in *** and is helpful for the understanding of host-microbiota interaction in oysters.

A stochastic gradient-based two-step sparse identification algorithm for multivariate ARX systems

We consider the sparse identification of multivariate ARX systems, i.e., to recover the zero elements of the unknown parameter matrix. We propose a two-step algorithm, where in the first step the stochastic gradient (SG) algorithm is applied to obtain initial estimates of the unknown parameter matrix and in the second step an optimization criterion is introduced for the sparse identification of multivariate ARX systems. Under mild conditions, we prove that by minimizing the criterion function, the zero elements of the unknown parameter matrix can be recovered with a finite number of observations. The performance of the algorithm is testified through a simulation example.

Geometry characteristics and wide temperature behavior of silicon-based GaN surface acoustic wave resonators with ultrahigh quality factor

Surface acoustic wave(SAW) resonators with an ultrahigh Q-factor are designed and fabricated on silicon-based gallium nitride(GaN/Si). The temperature-dependent performance is characterized over a wide range, from 10 to 500 K. Finite element analysis is employed to guide the design of the SAW resonator from indications of the Rayleigh mode and weak propagation direction dependence of SAW in the c-plane of GaN/Si. The SAW resonator with 100 pairs of interdigital transducers(IDT), 100 pairs of grating reflectors(GR) for each side, aperture size of 80 μm, metallization ratio of 0.5, and electrode width of 500 nm resonates at 1.9133 GHz accordingly with an ultrahigh Q-factor of 7622 at room temperature, which contributes the fr× Qr, up to 14.583×1012Hz. A resonator operating over 10 to 500 K indicates an approximately linear decreasing temperature dependence above 280 K while being approximately constant below 40 K. The fitting to resonator characteristics using the modified Butterworth Van Dyke(m BVD) model reveals a reduction in both the electrode and mechanical losses while worsening the dielectric loss with cooling down.

A group of massive galaxies at redshifts of z■7 have been recently detected by the James Webb Space Telescope(JWST),which were unexpected to form at such an early time within the standard Big Bang *** this work,we propose that this puzzle can be explained by the presence of some primordial black holes(PBHs)with a mass of~1000M_(⊙).These PBHs act as seeds for early galaxy formation with masses of~10^(8)-10^(10)M_(⊙)at high redshift,hence accounting for the JWST *** use a hierarchical Bayesian inference framework to constrain the PBH mass distribution models,and find that the Lognormal model with the M_(c)~750M_(⊙)is preferred over other *** rapidly growing BHs are expected to have strong radiation and may appear as high-redshift compact objects,similar to those recently discovered by *** we focused on PBHs in this work,the bound on the initial mass of the seed black holes remains robust even if they were formed through astrophysical channels.

Deep kernel extreme learning machine classifier based on the improved sparrow search algorithm

In the classification problem,deep kernel extreme learning machine(DKELM)has the characteristics of efficient processing and superior performance,but its parameters optimization is *** improve the classification accuracy of DKELM,a DKELM algorithm optimized by the improved sparrow search algorithm(ISSA),named as ISSA-DKELM,is proposed in this *** at the parameter selection problem of DKELM,the DKELM classifier is constructed by using the optimal parameters obtained by ISSA *** order to make up for the shortcomings of the basic sparrow search algorithm(SSA),the chaotic transformation is first applied to initialize the sparrow ***,the position of the discoverer sparrow population is dynamically adjusted.A learning operator in the teaching-learning-based algorithm is fused to improve the position update operation of the ***,the Gaussian mutation strategy is added in the later iteration of the algorithm to make the sparrow jump out of local *** experimental results show that the proposed DKELM classifier is feasible and effective,and compared with other classification algorithms,the proposed DKELM algorithm aciheves better test accuracy.

Rational design of robust and transparent superrepellent surfaces for long-term marine antifouling

Superhydrophobic surfaces have demonstrated exceptional efficacy in combatting biofouling contaminations of optical devices and equipment in marine applications. However, the fabrication of highly transparent superhydrophobic materials remains a formidable challenge due to the inherent trade-off between surface roughness for superhydrophobicity and optical ***, we design a robust and transparent superhydrophobic coating(Si-POSS) embedded silica nanoparticles(200 nm) with fluorinated polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes(F-POSS) and zinc pyrithione(ZPT). The Si-POSS coating exhibits excellent water repellence toward diverse liquids and optical transmittance exceeding 90% in the visible spectrum. Moreover, the Si-POSS coating sustains long-term anti-bacterial(> 99.11%) and anti-algal effects for over 30 days, accompanied by mechanical,chemical, and thermal stability. This research asserts that the Si-POSS coating with outstanding combined characteristics holds significant potential for marine applications, particularly in self-cleaning and antifouling endeavors.
