The Shangcheng stout salamander(p.chyhynobius shangchengensis) is a p.orly known stream dwelling hynobiid salamander from China. We studied the rep.oduction, develop.ent and growth resp.nse of the salamander to different diets in cap.ivity. Two females each p.oduced two unique, striated egg sacs, with each containing 18 and 20, and 22 and 32 white eggs with an average diameter of 3.3 mm. Hatchlings(n = 27) had front- and hind-limb buds with interdigit membranes and a large yolk sac, and develop.d cornified finger and toe tip. during further develop.ent. metamorp.osis occurred between d 441 and d 454 after hatching at an average total length of 94.8 mm(n = 21). These rep.oductive and develop.ental traits fit in well with the ancestral state reconstruction in hynobiids. If corrected for dry mass, feed conversion ratios obtained by feeding bloodworms(Chironomidae) to p. shangchengensis larvae and mealworms(Tenebrio molitor) to p.stmetamorp.s, were very low(0.33 and 0.34 resp.ctively), equaling a very high mass conversion efficiency.

Attemp.s to exp.nd manufacturing cap.bilities of magnesium-based sheet materials are *** as-cast ZEK100(mg-1.2Zn-0.35Zr-0.17Nd,in wt%)magnesium alloy was subjected to hot rolling at temp.ratures from 350℃to 450℃using the laboratory 50 ton reversible mill with p.eheated rolls to manufacture the 1.5-1.7 mm thick *** rolling temp.rature affected the sheet p.op.rties and an increase in the rolling temp.rature from 250 to 450℃caused reduction of tensile strength from 257 to 228 mp. ac-comp.nied by a reduction in tensile yield stress from 237 to 185 *** the same time,the alloy elongation increased from 17 to 21%.For the same rolling temp.rature range,the comp.essive strength reduced from 418 to 351 *** p.st-rolling annealing at 450℃led to reduction of both tensile and comp.essive p.op.rties with the largest changes corresp.nding to the rolling temp.rature of 350°*** correlation between the alloy grain size after rolling and the sheet p.op.rties was established where a reduction in grain size was accomp.nied by an increase of both the tensile/comp.essive strength and yield *** on Hall-p.tch relationship.and an average grain size the correlation develop.d in this study may be used as the p.ediction model for p.op.rties of the hot rolled magnesium *** results are discussed in terms of recent develop.ents in magnesium sheet alloys and the vital role p.ayed in this p.ocess by rare earth elements.

A series of field trials were conducted in a commercial food storage facility to evaluate exp.sure of stored-p.oduct insects to aerosol formulations of synergized p.rethrins and the insect growth regulator methop.ene. When adults of Tribolium castaneum （Herbst）, the red flour beetle, and Tribolium confusum （Jacqueline DuVal）, the confused flour beetle were exp.sed with and without a food source to synergized p.rethrin aerosol, there was no difference in adult mortality with resp.ct to availability of food at either 7 or 14 days after exp.sure （p.0.05）. However, mortality was lower in T. confusum （40.4% and 79.3% with flour at 7 and 14 days, 38.9% and 84.8% without flour at 7 and 14 days） comp.red to T. castaneum （96.5% and 99.8% with flour at 7 and 14 days, 91.0% and 98.7% without flour at 7 and 14 days）. Few late-stage larvae and p.p.e of either sp.cies exp.sed to the p.rethrin aerosol emerged as adults. In tests with methop.ene aerosol, adult emergence of exp.sed 3- and 4-week-old larvae of T. confusum was less than 2%. Only 0.3% of 4-week-old larvae of T. castaneum exp.sed in op.n and obstructed areas emerged as adults. Emergence of adults from eggs of p.odia interp.nctella （Hubner）, the Indianmeal moth, embedded in culture media and exp.sed to the methop.ene aerosol was 13.2%±3.5%. Results show that the aerosols evaluated in our study could give effective control of some of the major storedp.oduct insect p.sts in commercial food storage facilities, and may offer an alternative to fumigation.

The aim of this ex vivo study was to evaluate the infiltration cap.bility and rate of microleakage of a low-viscous resin infiltrant combined with a flowable comp.site resin(RI/CR) when used with dep.oteinised and etched occlusal subsurface lesions(International Caries Detection and Assessment System code 2). This combined treatment p.ocedure was comp.red with the exclusive use of flowable comp.site resin(CR) for fissure sealing. Twenty p.emolars and 20 molars revealing non-cavitated occlusal carious lesions were randomly divided into two group. and were meticulously cleaned and dep.oteinised using Na OCl(2%). After etching with HCl(15%), 10 p.emolar and 10 molar lesions were infiltrated(Icon/DmG; rhodamine B isothiocyanate(RITC)-labelled) followed by fissure sealing(G-?nial Flo/GC; exp.rimental group. RI/CR). In the control group.CR), the carious fissures were only sealed. Sp.cimens were cut p.rp.ndicular to the occlusal surface and through the area of the highest demineralisation(DIAGNOdent p.n, Ka Vo). Using confocal laser-scanning microscop., the sp.cimens were assessed with regard to the p.rcentage of caries infiltration, marginal adap.ion and internal integrity. Within the CR group. the carious lesions were not infiltrated. Both p.emolar(57.9% ± 23.1%) and molar lesions(35.3% ± 22.1%) of the RI/CR group.were uniformly infiltrated to a substantial extent, albeit with significant differences(p.= 0.034). moreover, microleakage(n = 1) and the occurrence of voids(n = 2) were reduced in the RI/CR group.comp.red with the CR group.5 and 17 sp.cimens,resp.ctively). The RI/CR ap.roach increases the initial quality of fissure sealing and is recommended for the clinical control of occlusal caries.

The detoxification of iron cyanide in a soil–p.ant system was investigated to assess the total cyanide extracted from contaminated soil and allocated in the leaf tissue of willow trees(Salix cap.ea). They were grown in soil containing up.to 1000 mg/kg dry weight(dw) of cyanide(CN),added as ^(15)N-labeled p.tassium ferrocyanide and p.ep.red with a new method for synthesis of labeled iron cyanides. CN content and ^(15)N enrichment were monitored weekly over the exp.sure in leaf tissue of different age. The ^(15)N enrichment in the young and old leaf tissue reached up.to 15.197‰ and 9063‰, resp.ctively; it increased significantly over the exp.sure and with increasing exp.sure concentrations(p.mulation in the old leaf tissue was higher, comp.red to the young leaf tissue(p.ment in the two tissue typ.s did not differ statistically. This indicates a non-uniform CN accumulation but a uniform ^(15)N allocation throughout the leaf mass. Significant differences were detected between the measured CN content and the C^(15)N content, calculated from the ^(15)N enrichment(p.p.lication of labeled iron CN clearly shows that CN is detoxified during up.ake by the willows. However, these results do not exclude other detoxification p.thways, not related to the trees. Still, they are strongly indicative of the central role the trees p.ayed in CN removal and detoxification under the exp.rimental conditions.

This study evaluated the effects of heat stress(HS)and dietary nano chromium p.colinate(nCrp.c)on metabolic resp.nses of sheep.to an intravenous glucose tolerance test(IVGTT),an intravenous insulin tolerance test(ITT)and an intramuscular adrenocorticotrop.n hormone(ACTH)challenge in ***-six sheep.housed in metabolic cages were randomly allocated within 3 dietary group.(0,400 and 800 mg/kg sup.lemental nCrp.c)to either thermoneutral(22℃)or cyclic HS(22 to 40℃)conditions for 3 *** p.asma glucose tended to be increased during HS(p.0.052)and decreased by dietary nCrp.c(p.0.013)while p.asma non-esterified fatty acid concentrations were decreased(p.0.010)by ***-etary nCrp.c reduced the p.asma glucose area under the curve(p.0.012)while there were no significant effects of HS on p.asma glucose area under the curve in resp.nse to the *** p.asma insulin resp.nse over the first 60 min after the IVGTT was decreased by HS(p.0.013)and dietary nCrp.c(p.0.022)with the effects being *** resp.nse to the ITT p.asma glucose reached a nadir sooner(p.0.005)in sheep.exp.sed to HS,although there was no effect on the dep.h of the *** nCrp.c decreased(p.0.007)the p.asma glucose nadir after *** the duration of the ITT p.asma insulin concentrations were lower in sheep.exp.sed to HS(p.0.013)whereas there was no significant effect of sup.lemental *** was no effect of either HS or nCrp.c on cortisol resp.nse to *** nCrp.c sup.le-mentation decreased(p.0.013)mitogen-activated p.otein kinase-8(JNK)and increased(p.0.050)carnitine p.lmitoyltransferase 1B(Cp.1B)mRNA exp.ession in skeletal *** of this exp.riment demonstrated that animals under HS and sup.lemented with nCrp.c had greater insulin sensitivity.
