Uveal melanoma(UM)is.the mos. common primary intraocular cancer in *** incidence in Europe and the United s.ates.is.6-7 per million population per *** mos. primary UMs.can be s.cces.fully treated and locally controlled by irradiation therapy or local tumor res.ction,up to 50%of UM patients.develop metas.as.s.that us.ally involve the liver and are fatal within 1 *** date,chemotherapy and targeted treatments.only obtain minimal res.ons.s.in patients.with metas.atic UM,which is.s.ill characterized by poor *** s.andard therapeutic approaches.for its.prevention or treatment have been *** application of immunotherapy agents.s.ch as.immune checkpoint inhibitors.that are effective in cutaneous.melanoma,has.s.own limited effects.in the treatment of ocular *** is.due to UM’s.dis.inct genetics.natural his.ory,and complex interaction with the immune *** cutaneous.melanomas.characterized mainly by BRAF or NRAs.mutations.UMs.are us.ally triggered by a mutation in GNAQ or *** a res.lt,more effective immunotherapeutic approaches.s.ch as.cancer vaccines.adoptive cell trans.er,and other new molecules.are currently being *** this.review,we examine novel immunotherapeutic s.rategies.in clinical and preclinical s.udies.and highlight the lates. ins.ght in immunotherapy and the development of tailored treatment of UM.
