The widespread diffusion of renewable energy sources calls for the development of high-capacity energy storage systems as the A-CAES(Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage)*** this framework,low temperature(100℃–200℃)A-CAES(LT-ACAES)systems can assume a key role,avoiding some critical issues connected to the operation of high temperature *** this paper,two different LT-ACAES configurations are *** two configurations are characterized by the same turbomachines and compressed air storage section,while differ in the TES section and its integration with the *** particular,the first configuration includes two separated cycles:the working fluid(air)cycle and the heat transfer fluid(HTF)*** heat exchangers connect the two cycles allowing to recover thermal energy from the compressors and to heat the compressed air at the turbine *** different HTFs were considered:air(case A)and thermal oil(case B).The second configuration is composed of only one cycle,where the operating fluid and the HTF are the same(air)and the TES section is composed of three different packed-bed thermal storage tanks(case C).The tanks directly recover the heat from the compressors and heat the air at each turbine inlet,avoiding the use of heat *** LT-ACAES systems were modelled and simulated using the ASPEN-Plus and the MATLAB-Simulink *** main aim of this study was the detailed analysis of the reciprocal influence between the turbomachinery and the TES system;furthermore,the performance evaluation of each plant was carried out assuming both on-design and off-design operating ***,the different configurations were compared through the main performance parameters,such as the round-trip efficiency.A total power output of around 10 MW was set,leading to a TES tank volume ranging between 500 and 700 m^(3).The second configuration with three TES systems appears to be the most promising in terms of round-trip efficiency

Primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC)is a premalignant condition and a welldocumented risk factor for cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)which is the most common malignancy in this setting and the leading cause of deaths in the recent years,with an increasing ***-associated CCA has a geographical distribution that follows the incidence of PSC,with an observed ascending gradient from the Eastern to the Western and from the Southern to the Northern *** may arise at any location along the biliary tree but is most common in the perihilar *** with PSC and intrahepatic or perihilar CCA are typically not suitable for liver resection,which is otherwise the treatment of choice with curative intent in patients with resectable tumours,providing a radical resection with clear margins can be *** largely relates to the commonly advanced stage of liver disease at presentation,which allows consideration for liver resection only for a very limited number of suitable patients with *** the other hand,remarkable progress has been reached in the last decades with the implementation of a protocol combining neoadjuvant chemoradiation and orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT)for the treatment of perihilar CCA,within specific *** results have been achieved particularly for PSC patients with this cancer,who seem to benefit the most from this treatment,having converted this into an accepted indication for transplantation and the standard of care in several experienced *** CCA as an indication for OLT remains controversial and has not been accepted given disappointing previous ***,as recent studies have shown favourable outcomes in early intrahepatic CCA,it may be that under defined criteria,OLT may play a more prominent role in the *** CCA in the context of PSC requires aggressive surgical treatment with curative intent,when *** review provides insight about particular features of CCA in the setting of

Antibiotics are usually prescribed to cure infections but they also have significant modulatory effects on the gut microbiota. Several alterations of the intestinal bacterial community have been reported during antibiotic treatment, including the reduction of beneficial bacteria as well as of microbial alpha-diversity. Although after the discontinuation of antibiotic therapies it has been observed a trend towards the restoration of the original condition, the new steady state is different from the previous one, as if antibiotics induced some kind of irreversible perturbation of the gut microbial community. The poorly absorbed antibiotic rifaximin seem to be different from the other antibiotics, because it exerts non-traditional effects additional to the bactericidal/bacteriostatic activity on the gut microbiota. Rifaximin is able to reduce bacterial virulence and translocation, has anti-inflammatory properties and has been demonstrated to positively modulate the gut microbial composition. Animal models, culture studies and metagenomic analyses have demonstrated an increase in Bifidobacterium, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and Lactobacillus abundance after rifaximin treatment, probably consequent to the induction of bacterial resistance, with no major change in the overall gut microbiota composition. Antibiotics are therefore modulators of the symbiotic relationship between the host and the gut microbiota. Specific antibiotics, such as rifaximin, can also induce eubiotic changes in the intestinal ecosystem; this additional property may represent a therapeutic advantage in specific clinical settings.

The increasingly rapid development of the disciplines of petroleum engineering and petroleum geology has led to new methodologies and interpretation techniques forming new knowledge that should be offered quickly and efficiently to modern engineers and geologists. This need is equally important for students as well as for young professionals. Access and training to all scientific information is necessary to ensure success in their future careers. Today, e-learning has become a common medium for the management and distribution of on-line educational content. Learning Management Systems （LMSs） were not only developed to handle a large variety of multimedia content that provides an organized knowledge repository used to accelerate access to information and skill acquisition; but, LMSs can also keep detailed statistics on the use of the available material offering a powerful training and educational tool. In this document, the Petroleum Knowledge Tutorial System, an LMS platform offering a variety of online educational and training options to petroleum engineers and geologists, is presented. It was created using Moodle, open- source software that can be used to create on-line courses. The platform covers fundamental educational concepts in a structured way. It follows an optimized ＂workflow＂ that can be applied not only to solve a specific exercise but also any similar problem encountered over the course of one＇s career. The platform was designed to offer a repository of learning material in various forms and to favor user-platform interactions. It can be used for training and evaluation purposes through exercises and problem solving that the user can perform online by using browsing software along with internet access. Special tools were created and implemented on the platform to assist the user in completing a variety of tasks including performing exercises involving calculations with given data and plots of points or lines on graphs without leaving the learning envir

An efficient p-multigrid method is developed to solve the algebraic systems which result from the approximation of elliptic problems with the so-called FeketeGauss Spectral Element Method,which makes use of the Fekete points of the triangle as interpolation points and of the Gauss points as quadrature points.A multigrid strategy is defined by comparison of different prolongation/restriction operators and coarse grid algebraic *** efficiency and robustness of the approach,with respect to the type of boundary condition and to the structured/unstructured nature of the mesh,are highlighted through numerical examples.
