This study aim.d to evaluate the m.nim.m.Inhibitory Concentration (m.C) and m.nim.m.Bactericidal Concentration (m.C) of Coffea canephora aqueous extract (Cc), trigonelline (Tg) and 5-caffeoylquinic acid (5-CQA) against cariogenic m.croorganism.: Streptococcus parasanguinis ATCC 903 (SP), Lactobacillus rham.osus ATCC 9595 (LR);and pathogens related to periodontal disease: Porphyrom.nas gingivalis ATCC 33277 (PG), Fusobacterium.nucleatum.ATCC 25586 (FN), Prevotella interm.dia ATCC 49046 (PI) and Prevotella nigrescens ATCC 33563 (PN). Different concentrations of Cc (0.15625 to 10 m./m.), Tg and 5-CQA (0.005 to 10.24 m./m.) were tested. Chlorhexidine (0.05%) was used as positive control and the substances without the inoculum.com.rised the blank control. The Cc showed bacteriostatic action against SP (m.C = 5 m./m.) and LR (m.C = 10 m./m.). Tg showed bacteriostatic action against SP (m.C = 2.56 to 1.28 m./m.), LR (m.C = 2.56 m./m.), PG (m.C = 2.56 to 1.28 m./m.), FN (m.C = 5.12 m./m.), PN (m.C = 2.56 m./m.), and PI (m.C = 2.56 to 1.28 m./m.). Also, Tg showed bactericide properties against SP (m.C = 2.56 m./m.), PG (m.C = 2.56 m./m.), FN (m.C = 10.24 m./m.), PN (m.C = 5.12 m./m.), and PI (m.C = 2.56 m./m.). Although 5-CQA has previously shown activity against Streptococcus m.tans, in the present study, it showed no activity against all tested m.croorganism.. C. canephora extract only showed antibacterial activity against cariogenic m.croorganism., not presenting action against periodontal pathogens. It was concluded that trigonelline presented the best effect against all pathogens tested, therefore coffee extracts with higher trigonelline content should be tested against these specific pathogens.

How does Cariniana estrellensis respond to different irradiance levels?

Based on reports that variables related to photosynthesis(net assim.latory ratio and chloroplast pigm.nts)are m.re plastic than the m.rphological and biochem.cal variables in a clim.x tropical species,Cariniana estrellensis,under contrasting irradiance,we hypothesised that plasticity of gas exchange variables is higher in relation to growth,biochem.cal and anatom.cal *** that were 14 m.nths old were subjected to200 up to 2000 lm.l m.(-2)s^(-1) of photo synthetically active radiation(PAR)for 140 *** increased up to1400 lm.l m.(-2)s^(-1)PAR and then decreased at 2000 lm.l m.(-2)s^(-1) PAR(full sunlight).This was related to the rate of photosynthesis(A)which showed the sam. tendency as photosystem.Ⅱ perform.nce index(PI_(ABS)).The greater thickness of the secondary xylem.at 1400 lm.l m.(-2)s^(-1) PAR indicated a higher water conductance *** decrease in specific leaf area,elongation of m.sophyll cells,and increase in stom.tal density observed at higher irradiances were associated with higher leaf fructose and sucrose *** concluded that the better growth in partial shade was due to higher photosynthetic *** the other hand,photosynthesis was inhibited equally in full sun and deep *** high adjustm.nt capacity of *** to wide am.litudes of irradiance was provided by greater plasticity of gas exchange variables in relation to growth,anatom.cal,and biochem.cal variables.

Reliability analysis for m.ne blast perform.nce based on delay type and firing tim.

m.ning blasts m.y be defined as the use of explosive charges in a controlled m.nner by following a tightly controlled tim.ng sequence according to an assigned firing order. Changes of tim.ng between charges m.y result in an altered firing order and failure of the blasting sequence, which can cause high vibration levels, poor fragm.ntation, and/or an undesirable rock m.ss m.vem.nt direction. Despite the im.ortance of tim.ng in determ.ning m.ne blast results, there exists a lack of m.thodologies or tools with which to assess perform.nce of a com.lete blast based on delay type and tim.ng sequence. This docum.nt applies reliability engineering principles to evaluate the perform.nce of a m.ne blast. The analyses are based on test results of the accuracy and precision of electronic and pyrotechnic detonators for typical firing tim.s used in a surface coal m.ne, but m.y be applied to a variety of m.nes and tim.ng scenarios.

Pterocarpus santalinus L. f.(Fabaceae;red sanders) is prized for its wood whose colour and fragrance is due to the presence of santalins that have pharm.ceutical and industrial uses. Red sanders is listed as an endangered plant species on the IUCN red data list as a result of the exploitation of its wood and essential oil. This review em.hasizes the pollination biology, seed germ.nation, vegetative propagation and m.cropropagation of P. santalinus. Excessive use of P. santalinus has also caused the em.rgence of various adulterants, so accurate identification is essential.
