Over the last two decades wildfire activity, damage, and management cost within the US have increased substantially. These increases have been associated with a number of factors including climate change and fuel accumulation due to a century of active fire suppression. The increased fire activity has occurred during a time of significant ex-urban development of the Wildland Urban Interface （WUI） along with increased demand on water resources originating on forested landscapes. These increased demands have put substantial pressure on federal agencies charged with wildfire management to continue and expand the century old policy of aggressive wildfire suppression. However, aggressive wildfire suppression is one of the major factors that drive the increased extent, intensity, and damage associated with the small number of large wildfires that are unable to be suppressed. In this paper we discuss the positive feedback loops that lead to demands for increasing suppression response while simultaneously increasing wildfire risk in the future. Despite a wealth of scientific research that demonstrates the limitations of the current management paradigm pressure to maintain the existing system are well entrenched and driven by the existing social systems that have evolved under our current management practice. Interestingly, US federal wildland fire policy provides considerable discretion for managers to pursue a range of management objectives however, societal expectations and existing management incentive structures result in policy implementation that is straining the resilience of fire adapted ecosystems and the communities that reside in and adjacent to them.

In the discipline of Music Information Retrieval(MIR),categorizing musicﬁles according to their genre is a difﬁcult *** genre classiﬁca-tion is an important multimedia research domain for classiﬁcation of music *** the proposed method music genre classiﬁcation using features obtained from audio data is *** classiﬁcation is done using features extracted from the audio data of popular online repository namely GTZAN,ISMIR 2004 and Latin Music Dataset(LMD).The features highlight the differences between different musical *** the proposed method,feature selection is per-formed using an African Buffalo Optimization(ABO),and the resulting features are employed to classify the audio using Back Propagation Neural Networks(BPNN),Support Vector Machine(SVM),Naïve Bayes,decision tree and kNN classiﬁ*** evaluation reveals that,ABO based feature selection strategy achieves an average accuracy of 82%with mean square error(MSE)of 0.003 when used with neural network classiﬁer.

The paper considers three common snubber circuits used on gate turn-off thyristor and/or insulated gate bipolar transistor inverters. The three snubbers are passive lossless circuits for power bridge legs, and the improvements and modifications to these snubber circuits are presented. The comparative features and operation of the three improved energy recovery snubbers are discussed and supported by PSPICE simulations and experimental results.

The Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point （GSSP） for the base of the Hirnantian Stage （the uppermost of the Ordovician System） is defined at a point 0.39m below the base of the Kuanyinchiao Bed in the Wangjiawan North section. The section is located near Wangjiawan village, 42 km north of Yichang city （western Hubei, China）, at 30° 58′56″N and 111° 25′10″E. The GSSP level coincides with the first appearance of the graptolite species Normalograptus extraordinarius （Sobolevskaya）. Secondary markers include the onset of a positive carbon-isotope excursion, and a slightly earlier first appearance of Normalograptus ojsuensis （ Koren and Mikhailova ）. The Wangjiawan North section possesses continuity of sedimentation and biozonation with completeness of exposures, abundant and well-preserved graptolites and shelly fossils, i. e. the Hirnantia- Dalmanitina shelly fauna which is a key element for recognition of the Hirnantian Stage. The Wangjiawan North, South and Riverside sections possess favorable facies and widespread correlation potential, are free from structure complication, metamorphism and other alteration, and have good accessibility. The Riverside section in particular possesses amenability to isotopic age determination. The beginning of the Hirnantian was followed by a global episode of a major extinction event, which happened in the Diceratograptus mirus Subzone. The proposal was voted by the International Subcommission on Ordovician Stratigraphy in October, 2004, approved by the International Commission on Stratigraphy in February, 2006, and ratified by the International Union of Geological Sciences in May, 2006.

Photoelectrochemical Production of Hydrogen in Aqueous Suspensions Nanoparticles Composites of CdS/ZnS

Aqueous solutions of mixed CdS/ZnS semiconductor (SC) nanoparticle suspensions in phosphate buffers containing 10 mM [Fe(CN)6]4– were used for photochemical production of hydrogen via hydrated electron intermediates. CdS was doped with varying percentages of ZnS to expand the absorption range of the composite to the UV region. Results show that maximum generation of hydrated electrons by [Fe(CN)6]4– occurs at pH 6. Furthermore, native CdS amorphous nanoparticles give the greatest photocurrent. Studies also show that, in phosphate buffer, the steady state photocurrent was directly proportional to the CdS content in the mixture of CdS/ZnS. The aqueous nano-systems sustained their stability as indicated by the reproducibility of their photocatalytic activities. Solar radiated assemblies of CdS/ZnS/ [Fe(CN)6]4– sustained cyclic systems for continuous hydrogen production.
