Cholelithiasis-induced cholestasis is one of the most common causes of hospitalization due to gastrointestinal disease,yet considerable knowledge gaps exist in the pathogenesis of this *** can partially be explained by inadequate characterization of experimental cholestasis ***,we compared the transcriptional profile of commonly used mouse models for obstructive cholestasis and benchmarked them to human disease to identify the model(s)best suited for cholelithiasis-induced cholestasis research and to uncover conserved mechanisms involved in human and murine cholestasis.

AIM: To investigate neural and behavioral correlates of emotional experiences as potential vulnerability markers in remitted depression. METHODS: Fourteen remitted participants with a history of major depression and fourteen closely matched healthy control participants took part in the study. We used two psychiatric interviews(Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale) and one self-report scale(Beck Depression Inventory) to assess remission. Healthy control participants were interviewed by an experienced psychiatrist to exclude those who showed any current or lifetime psychiatric or neurological disorders. To explore psychosocialand cognitive-interpersonal underpinnings of potential vulnerability markers of depression, early life stress, coping styles and alexithymia were also assessed. We induced pleasant and unpleasant emotional states using congruent combinations of music and human emotional faces to investigate neural and behavioral correlates of emotional experiences; neutral stimuli were used as a control condition. Brain responses were recorded using functional magnetic resonance imaging. Behavioral responses of pleasantness, arousal, joy and fear were measured via button-press inside the resonance imaging scanner. RESULTS: The mean age of the sample was 54.9(± 11.3) years. There were no differences between remitted depressed(RD)(n = 14; 9 females and 5 males) and healthy participants(n = 14; 8 females and 6 males) regarding age, current degree of depression, early life stress, coping styles and alexithymia. On a neural level, RD participants showed reduced activations in the pregenual anterior cingulate cortex(pg ACC) in response to pleasant [parameter estimates:-0.78 vs 0.32; t(26) =-3.41, P nd unpleasant [parameter estimates:-0.88 vs 0.56; t(26)=-4.02, P nal stimuli. Dear Editor,Persistent hematuria could trigger urinary retention,leading the patient to the emergency department for abdominal pain,decreased urinary output,anemia,and azotemia[1,2].Conventional bladder clot evacuation requires a three-way catheter with continuous irrigation and aspiration with a syringe or Ellik evacuator[3].Sometimes a large and well-organized hematoma requires an open cystostomy[1,4].We want to introduce a combined method using hydrogen peroxide as well as suction technique with an endotracheal catheter to evacuate intravesical clots.

The initiation of stomatal lineage and subsequent asymmetric divisions in Arabidopsis require the activity of the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor SPEECHLESS （SPCH）. It has been shown that SPCH controls entry into the stomatal lineage as a substrate either of the MITOGEn-ACTIVATED PROTEIn KInASE （MAPK） cascade or GSK3-1ike kinase BRASSlnOSTEROID InSEnSITIVE 2 （BIn2）. Here we show that three serine residues of SPCH appear to be the primary phosphorylation targets of Cyclin-Dependent Kinases A;1 （CDKA;1） in vitro, and among them Serine 186 plays a crucial role in stomatal formation. Expression of an SPCH construct harboring a mutation that results in phosphorylation deficiencies on Serine 186 residue failed to rescue stomatal defects in spch null mutants. Expression of a phosphorylation-mimic mutant SPCHS186D complemented stomatal production defects in the transgenic lines harboring the targeted expression of dominant-negative CDKA;1.n146. Therefore, in addition to MAPK- and BIn2-mediated phos- phorylation on SPCH, phosphorylation at Serine 186 is positively required for SPCH function in regulating stomatal development.

Objectives: To compare the frequency of obstetric and perinatal complications among patients with carbohydrate intolerance (CHI) and gestational diabetes (GD). Materials and Methods: In a prospective study at the Civil Hospital of Culiacán, we studied 182 pregnant patients between 16 and 30 weeks of gestation (WG) who received a glucose tolerance test following the oral administration of 100 g of glucose. The patients were classified as normal (n = 53), CHI (n = 61) and GD (n = 68) between January 15 to november 30, 2012. The analyzed variables included the frequency of polyhydramnios, preeclampsia-eclampsia, obstetric hemorrhage, fetal macrosomia, and admission to a neonatal intensive care unit (nICU). Results: no significant differences were found between women with CHI and women with GD with respect to obstetric hemorrhage (P = 0.774), preeclampsia-eclampsia (P = 0.590), and macrosomia (P = 0.119). However, polyhydramnios was more frequent in CHI group (OR = 3) compared to GD, whereas admission to the nICU was lower in the CHI group compared to GD group (OR = 0.38). Conclusion: Preeclampsia-eclampsia, obstetric hemorrhage, and macrosomia were similar among patients with CHI and GD. In contrast, polyhydramnios was more frequent in patients with CHI compared to patients with GD, but admission to the nICU was more frequent in patients with GD.

AIM: To investigate age, sex, histopathology and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) status, as risk factors for gastroduodenal disease outcome in Brazilian dyspeptic *** submitted to upper gastroscopy at Hospital das Clinicas of Marilia, antral biopsy specimens were obtained and subjected to histopathology and H. pylori diagnosis. All patients presenting chronic gastritis (CG) and peptic ulcer (PU) disease localized in the stomach, gastric ulcer (GU) and/or duodenal ulcer (DU) were included in the study. Gastric biopsies (n = 668) positive for H. pylori by rapid urease test were investigated for vacuolating cytotoxin A (vacA ) medium (m) region mosaicism by polymerase chain reaction. Logistic regression analysis was performed to verify the association of age, sex, histopathologic alterations, H. pylori diagnosis and vacA m region mosaicism with the incidence of DU, GU and CG in patients. RESULTS: Of 1466 patients submitted to endoscopy, 1060 (72.3%) presented CG [male/female = 506/554; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.2 ± 17.81], 88 (6.0%) presented DU [male/female = 54/34; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.4 ± 17.14], and 75 (5.1%) presented GU [male/female = 54/21; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.3 ± 17.12] and were included in the comparative analysis. Sex and age showed no detectable effect on CG incidence (overall c 2 = 2.1, P = 0.3423). This paper presents efficient processing engines for software-defined radio （SDR） front-ends. These engines, based on a polyphase channelizer, perform arbitrary sample-rate changes, frequency selection, and bandwidth control. This paper presents an M-path polyphase filter bank based on a modified n-path polyphase filter. Such a system allows resampling by arbitrary ratios while performing baseband aliasing from center frequencies at nyquist zones that are not multiples of the output sample rate. This resampling technique is based on sliding cyclic data load interacting with cyclic-shifted coefficients. A non-maximally-decimated polyphase filterbank （where the number of data loads is not equal to the number of M subfilters） processes M subfilters in a time period that is less than or greater than the M data loads. A polyphase filter bank with five different resampling modes is used as a case study for embedded resamp/ing in SDR front-ends. These modes are （i） maximally decimated, （ii） Under-decimated, （iii） over-decimated, and combined up- and down-sampling with （iv） single stride length, and （v） multiple stride lengths. These modes can be used to obtain any required rational sampling rate change in an SDR front-end based on a polyphase channelizer. They can also be used for translation to and from arbitrary center frequencies that are unrelated to the output sample rates.

In this paper, we describe resourceefficient hardware architectures for softwaredefined radio （SDR） frontends. These architectures are made efficient by using a polyphase channelizer that performs arbitrary sample rate changes, frequency selection, and bandwidth control. We discuss area, time, and power optimization for field programmable gate array （FPGA） based architectures in an Mpath polyphase filter bank with modified npath polyphase filter. Such systems allow resampling by arbitrary ratios while simultaneously performing baseband aliasing from center frequencies at nyquist zones that are not multiples of the output sample rate. A nonmaximally decimated polyphase filter bank, where the number of data loads is not equal to the number of M subfilters, processes M subfilters in a time period that is either less than or greater than the Mdataload ＇ s time period. We present a loadprocess architecture （LPA） and a runtime architecture （RA）（based on serial polyphase structure） which have different scheduling. In LPA, nsubfilters are loaded, and then M subfilters are processed at a clock rate that is a multiple of the input data rate. This is necessary to meet the output time constraint of the down-sampled data. In RA, Msubfilters processes are efficiently scheduled within ndataload time while simultaneously loading n subfilters. This requires reduced clock rates compared with LPA, and potentially less power is consumed. A polyphase filter bank that uses different resampling factors for maximally decimated, underdecimated, overdecimated, and combined upand downsampled scenarios is used as a case study, and an analysis of area, time, and power for their FPGA architectures is given. For resourceoptimized SDR frontends, RA is superior for reducing operating clock rates and dynamic power consumption. RA is also superior for reducing area resources, except when indices are prestored in LUTs.

Concentrated flow erosion processes are distinguished from splash and sheetflow processes in their enhanced ability to mobilize and transport large amounts of soil,water and dissolved *** rangelands,soil,nutrients and water are scarce and only narrow margins of resource losses are tolerable before crossing the sustainability *** these ecosystems,concentrated flow processes are perceived as indicators of degradation and often warrant the implementation of mitigation ***,this negative perception of concentrated flow processes may conflict with the need to improve understanding of the role of these transport vessels in redistributing water,soil and nutrients along the rangeland *** influences the development and erosion of concentrated flowpaths and has been the primary factor used to control and mitigate erosion on *** the ecohydrologic level,vegetation and concentrated flow pathways are engaged in a feedback relationship,the understanding of which might help improve rangeland management and restoration *** this paper,we review published literature on experimental and conceptual research pertaining to concentrated flow processes on rangelands to:(1)present the fundamental science underpinning concentrated flow erosion modeling in these landscapes,(2)discuss the influence of vegetation on these erosion processes,(3)evaluate the contribution of concentrated flow erosion to overall sediment budget and(4)identify knowledge gaps.
