The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has been linked to an increased prevalence of mental health disorders,particularly anxiety and ***,the COVID-19 pandemic has caused stress in people worldwide due to several factors,including fear of infection;social isolation;difficulty in adapting to new routines;lack of coping methods;high exposure to social media,misinformation,and fake reports;economic impact of the measures implemented to slow the contagion and concerns regarding the disease ***-19 patients have elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines,such as interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,and tumor necrosis factor-α,and other inflammation-related ***,invasion of the central nervous system by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)may potentially contribute to neuroinflammatory alterations in infected ***,a consequence of psychological stress due to the COVID-19 pandemic,may also play a role in the development of anxiety and depressive symptoms in the general *** that neuroinflammation plays a significant role in the pathophysiology of depression and anxiety,this study investigated the effects of SARS-CoV-2 on mental health and focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the neuroinflammatory pathways.

AIM:To analyze small intestinal bacterial overgrowth in school-aged children and the relationship between hydrogen and methane production in breath ***:This transversal study included 85 children residing in a slum and 43 children from a private school,all aged between 6 and 10 years,in Osasco,*** characterization of the groups,data regarding the socioeconomic status and basic housing sanitary conditions were *** data was obtained in children from both *** children completed the hydrogen(H 2) and methane(CH 4) breath test in order to assess small intestinal bacterial overgrowth(SIBO).SIBO was diagnosed when there was an increase in H 2 ≥ 20 ppm or CH 4 ≥ 10 ppm with regard to the fasting value until 60 min after lactulose ***:Children from the slum group had worse living conditions and lower nutritional indices than children from the private *** was found in 30.9%(26/84) of the children from the slum group and in 2.4%(1/41) from the private school group(P = 0.0007).Greater hydrogen production in the small intestine was observed in children from the slum group when compared to children from the private school(P = 0.007).A higher concentration of hydrogen in the small intestine(P < 0.001) and in the colon(P < 0.001) was observed among the children from the slum group with SIBO when compared to children from the slum group without *** production was observed in 63.1%(53/84) of the children from the slum group and in 19.5%(8/41) of the children from the private school group(P < 0.0001).Methane production was observed in 38/58(65.5%) of the children without SIBO and in 15/26(57.7%) of the children with SIBO from the *** production of hydrogen was lower in methaneproducing children(P = 0.017).CONCLUSION:Children who live in inadequate environmental conditions are at risk of bacterial overgrowth and methane *** is a substrate for methane production in the colon.

Background: Two aspects need to be considered for schistosomiasis control: morbidity and transmission. In this context, many soluble substances have been tested and Euphorbia milii latex is one of the most promising Brazilian molluscicides. Phytochemical studies involving simulation of the applicability of this latex on all aquatic forms of the S. mansoni life cycle are rare in the literature. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of E. milii latex on S. mansoni in the egg, miracidium and different developmental stages in Biomphalaria glabrata. Methods: The laboratory study was designed to simulate the different forms of exposure of the life cycle stages of S. mansoni to the LC50 of E. milii latex;we tested the exposition from four situations of S. mansoni contact with the latex and observed the exposure on different snails’ infection stage too. All snails were analyzed weekly for cercarial shedding and reproductive biology. Results: The results showed that contact of S. mansoni eggs and miracidia with the LC50 of E. milii negatively influenced the development of the parasite life cycle in the intermediate host, with consequent reduction of cercarial shedding. The exposure of infected snails affected the reproductive biology and cercarial shedding in all intra-mollusk development stages of S. mansoni, but the reduction was greater in the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth weeks of infection. The LC50 of E. milii latex had toxic action on eggs and miracidia, and the number of cercariae shed by snails during the study period declined by about 80%. Conclusions: We can conclude that the use of natural biodegradable compounds containing low concentrations of substances already characterized as having eco-toxico- logical potential can be an important tool to reduce the transmission of Schistosomiasis.

Based on the concepts of social inclusion, universal design and accessibility, this paper aims to describe the stages of the development and implementation of a Web GIS （geographic information system for the internet） based on OS （open source） software The Web GIS developed is called ＂accessibility to Campinas tourist attractions＂, which provides information about cultural and natural attractions in Campinas/SP-Brazil, especially for people with disabilities or reduced mobility that prevents access these sites via public and private transportation. The verification of the existence or lack of accessibility equipment at bus stops and parking areas close to tourist attractions relies on current legislation （NBR 9050/1994） that establishes the right to accessibility for disabled people to transportation, local culture and leisure. An application that facilitates this recognition with low operating costs and high performance was developed using the OS software Quantum GIS 1.0.2, Apache 2.2.4, Mapserver 5.0.2, I3GEO 4.0, PostgreSQL 8.3 and PostGIS 1.3.5. This software is able to integrate the management of tourist areas and the advertisement of tourist information regarding accessibility devices at sights recognized as tourist attractions by Campinas city hall.

Development of Active Films with Collagen Fiber and Polyvinyl Alcohol Mixture and Incorporation of Oregano and Rosemary Essential Oils in Their Matrix

The aim was to develop films with a new mixture of collagen fiber plus polyvinyl alcohol added of oregano or rosemary essential oils at different levels (0%, 2%, 4% and 6%), as well as to assess the antimicrobial activity, physical, optical, microstructure and molecular properties in the films. An interaction between the ingredients was observed at the molecular level by FTIR. The amide II and amide III bands, which are important to verify collagen conformation, showed intense peaks in the films. The formation of a network through collagen fibers was produced, acting as a reinforcement in matrix. The films with essential oil had an expressive antimicrobial activity by the steam contact method (micro-atmosphere), mainly for Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The mixture of collagen fiber plus polyvinyl alcohol added of essential oils is a promising matrix for application in food as active packaging.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis is an infection of the genital mucosa, which involves the vulva and vagina caused by yeast. It is considered a recurrent pathology and a public health problem that causes discomfort by the triggers and that, when left untreated, can lead to health problems. The present study is a report of two cases treated with the MAC® - Scar Acceleration Method - (MAC®) methodology at the Physiotherapy School Clinic of Teaching Center of Campos Gerais (CESCAGE) as a pilot for the proposal to implement the protocol at the Municipal Center for Women’s Health—CMM in the municipality of Ponta Grossa—PR, Brazil. The patients were referred by Basic Health Units in the city with complaints of pruritus, vaginal discharge and local burning with the diagnosis of candidiasis evidenced by culture and antibiogram. Patients were treated with photodynamic therapy using the MAC® method for 14 consecutive days with 660 nm red laser phototherapy, 100 mW of power, 9 joules of energy, photosensitizing the drug Turmeric Long in one of the participants and propolis in the other, using 1% methylene blue dye. The consumption of beverages and processed foods, mainly soft drinks, has been incorporated into the usual diet of children, adolescents and adults frequently in recent years. The present study aimed to study the effects of carbonated drinks on Wistar rats, based on the macroscopic and histological morphology of the esophagus. Fifteen Wistar rats were divided into three groups: control group;group fed with ration and cola-type refrigerant ad libitum and group fed with ration and gas industrialized water ad libitum, for a trial period of 90 days. For histopathology and morphology, the esophagus was removed, prepared in slides and stained with hematoxylineosin. Images of the sections were captured for analysis and classification of the inflammatory infiltrate. For morphometry, ten grid fields of 100 points were evaluated in the 40x eyepiece, totaling 3000 points per animal. The results demonstrate that the refrigerant treatment induced the following structural changes in the rats: significant reduction of weight in relation to the control group;inflammatory infiltrate predominantly diffuse mild to moderate and tissue edema. The rats treated with carbonated water had similar results to the control, besides signs of healing and tissue repair.
