Multiple sclerosis(MS):MS is a neurodegenerative disease affecting around 2.5 million people worldwide,representing the second cause of disabilities in the young adult *** is a demyelinating pathology which originates in the autoimmune attack of T and B lymphocytes against *** lack of myelin leads,in turn,to axonal degeneration,neuronal death and the consequent neurological disabilities(Franklin and Ffrench-Constant,2017).A main hallmark of MS is a preserved local neuroinflammatory *** is now acknowledged that this persistent inflammatory scenario is a central and common condition in almost all neurodegenerative pathologies(as in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases,among others)controlling and modulating the regulatory responses of the system to the triggering *** the case of MS,this original insult corresponds to the loss of myelin(Chitnis and Weiner,2017;Franklin and Ffrench-Constant,2017).

Background A gap currently exists between genetic variants and the underlying cell and tissue biology of a trait,and expression quantitative trait loci(eQTL)studies provide important information to help close that ***,two concerns that arise with eQTL analyses using RNA-sequencing data are normalization of data across samples and the data not following a normal *** pipelines have been suggested to address *** instance,the most recent analysis of the human and farm Genotype-Tissue Expression(GTEx)project proposes using trimmed means of M-values(TMM)to normalize the data followed by an inverse normal *** In this study,we reasoned that eQTL analysis could be carried out using the same framework used for dif-ferential gene expression(DGE),which uses a negative binomial model,a statistical test feasible for count *** the GTEx framework,we identified 35 significant eQTLs(P<5×10^(–8))following the ANOVA model and 39 significant eQTLs(P<5×10^(–8))following the additive *** a differential gene expression framework,we identified 930 and six significant eQTLs(P<5×10^(–8))following an analytical framework equivalent to the ANOVA and additive model,*** we compared the two approaches,there was no overlap of significant eQTLs between the two *** we defined specific contrasts,we identified trans eQTLs that more closely resembled what we expect from genetic variants showing complete dominance between ***,these were not identified by the GTEx *** Our results show that transforming RNA-sequencing data to fit a normal distribution prior to eQTL analysis is not required when the DGE framework is *** proposed approach detected biologically relevant variants that otherwise would not have been identified due to data transformation to fit a normal distribution.

The removal of the natural organic matter present in coffee processing wastewater through chemical coagulation-flocculation and advanced oxidation processes （AOP） had been studied. The effectiveness of the removal of natural organic matter using commercial flocculants and UV/H202, UV/O3 and UV/H2O2/O3 processes was determined under acidic conditions. For each of these processes, different operational conditions were explored to optimize the treatment efficiency of the coffee wastewater. Coffee wastewater is characterized by a high chemical oxygen demand （COD） and low total suspended solids. The outcomes of coffee wastewater treatment using coagulation-flocculation and photodegradation processes were assessed in terms of reduction of COD, color, and turbidity. It was found that a reduction in COD of 67% could be realized when the coffee wastewater was treated by chemical coagulation-flocculation with lime and coagulant T-1. When coffee wastewater was treated by coagulation-flocculation in combination with UV/H2O2, a COD reduction of 86% was achieved, although only after prolonged UV irradiation. Of the three advanced oxidation processes considered, UV/H2O2, UV/O3 and UV/H2O2/O3, we found that the treatment with UV/H2O2/O3 was the most effective, with an efficiency of color, turbidity and further COD removal of 87%, when applied to the flocculated coffee wastewater.

Cooperation among service providers, network providers, and access providers in the Internet allows the creation of new services to offer to customers that are in other domains, thus increasing revenue. However, the Internet heterogeneous environment, where each provider has its own policies, infrastructure and business goals, hinders the deployment of more advanced communication services. This paper presents a Quality of Service （QoS） for Inter-Domain Services （QIDS） model that allows inter-domain QoS-aware services to be defined, configured, and adapted in a dynamic and on-demand fashion, among service providers. This is accomplished by： 1） the use of a common communication channel （business layer） where service providers publish and search for services, and interact with each other to contract and manage these services; 2） the templates to specify the business and technical characteristics of the services; 3） the automatic composition of services using service dements （smaller services） a^cording to performance and service-specific QoS parameters; and 4） the creation and enforcement of configuration rules for the underlying infrastructure. A prototype was implemented to validate QIDS and performance tests were conducted on an inter-domain Border Gateway Protocol （BGP）/Multiprotocol Label Switching （MPLS） Virtual Private Network （VPN） scenario.

AIM:To assess the role of IgM and IgG immunohistochemistry(IHC) in the evaluation of autoimmune liver conditions-autoimmune hepatitis(AIH),primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC),and primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC).METHODS:Forty one biopsies from untreated patients diagnosed with autoimmune liver disease(AIH,n = 20;PBC,n = 13;PSC,n = 8) and fourteen biopsies of patients with chronic hepatitis C were *** and IgG-positive plasma cells were counted in each ***:A predominance of IgG-positive plasma cells was seen in AIH(90% of cases),PSC(75% of cases),and chronic hepatitis C(100% of cases),while IgMpositive plasma cells predominated in PBC(92.8% ofcases).The IgM /IgG ratio(< 1 or ≥ 1) accurately distinguished PBC from AIH in 90.9% of cases(sensitivity = 92.3%,specificity = 90%),and PBC from either AIH or PSC in 87.8% of cases(sensitivity = 92.3%,specificity = 85.7%).CONCLUSION:Plasmacytic infiltrates expressing predominantly IgM are characteristic of PBC,while other forms of liver disease analyzed in this study,including AIH,typically show an IgG-predominant plasma cell *** data indicate that IgM and IgG IHC may be a useful tool when PBC is a diagnostic consideration.

Effect of Optical Brightening Agent(OBA)on Bleaching Process on Paper of Eucalyptus Kraft Pulp

In integrated factories of pulp and paper, the bleaching control is made by kappa number and/or brightness. However, the product paper is evaluated and valued for its whiteness. The level of final brightness of pulp certainly affects the demand for optical brighteners in paper manufacturing, nevertheless, there is not a direct correlation between consumption of optical brightener and final brightness, being the method of bleaching pulp, especially from the final stage of bleaching, also important in relation to this demand. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the potential of using the parameter whiteness as a tool to control bleaching pulp, instead of the traditional brightness and evaluate the impacts of different methods of bleaching and the pulp final brightness level in action of optical brighteners, to improve their performance. It was observed that the whiteness and brightness of the pulp are highly correlated and that the control of the bleaching plant can be done by any one of these two parameters. It was also concluded that, considering current prices of bleaching reagents and of optical brighteners, it is better to bleach the pulp up to lower brightness values (e.g. 88% ISO) and use larger amounts of optical brighteners to brighten the mass until the whiteness of 130 CIE. This conclusion is valid for whiteness measured before the size press. Further studies are needed to validate this conclusion considering the finished product.
