Trifocal toric intraocular lenses in eyes with low amount of corneal astigmatism

AIM:To evaluate the refractive and visual outcomes following cataract surgery and implantation of a trifocal toric intraocular lens(IOL)in eyes with low degrees of corneal ***:Twenty-six eyes of 22 patients who underwent implantation a trifocal toric IOL(FineVision PODFT,PhysIOL s.a.,Liege,Belgium)were *** with femtosecond laser,capsular tension ring insertion and intraoperative aberrometry were performed in all *** IOLs used showed a cylinder power of 1.00 *** outcome measures were refractive error and corrected-distance visual acuity(CDVA)and uncorrected-distance visual acuity(UDVA)*** were evaluated at 4 mo ***:Totally 50%of eyes showed a spherical equivalent(SE)within±0.13 D and all of them within±0.50 *** mean SE and refractive cylinder were-0.02±0.23 and-0.16±0.22 D,*** analysis revealed that 100%of eyes were within±0.50 D for the SE and cylindrical components(J0 and J45).Refractive changes were not correlated with keratometric changes(P>0.05)showing that the reduction in astigmatism comes from the trifocal toric *** 81%and 96%of eyes showed UDVA and CDVA of 20/20,*** postoperative mean values of monocular distance Snellen decimal UDVA and CDVA were 0.97±0.05 and 0.99±0.02(about 20/20),***:Our study suggests that the use of this trifocal toric IOL in patients with low amount of astigmatism provides accurate refractive outcomes and enables them to achieve excellent visual acuity.

Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung with symptoms that include productive dry cough,fever,chest pain,and difficulty breathing,and it is usually caused by viruses and bacteria,but also other microorganisms(such as fungi and parasites).Community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)is a major cause of infectious diseases,hospitalization,and mortality,especially in the elderly population.

Background:To measure angle-to-angle(ATA)and spur-to-spur(STS)distances along six meridians using highresolution swept-source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT)and to compare those values with horizontal white-to-white(WTW)***:68 eyes from 68 patients were quantitatively assessed with the Anterion SS-OCT(Heidelberg Engineering,Heidelberg,Germany).ATA and STS distances were measured with the SS-OCT’s B-Scan in six cross-sectional images corresponding to the vertical(6-12 o’clock),1-7 o’clock,2-8 o’clock,horizontal(3-9 o’clock),4-10 o’clock and 5-11 o’clock *** was measured horizontally with the device’s infrared camera.A Pearson correlation analysis was carried out to compare ATA and STS distances with ***:The largest values were found for the vertical meridian and the shortest for the 2-8 o’clock meridian,both for ATA and STS *** statistically significant differences were found between WTW,ATA and STS along the horizontal meridian(p>0.1).However,ATA and STS showed statistically significant differences elsewhere,except for the horizontal and the 2-8 o’clock meridians(p>0.05).Moreover,we found that ATA and STS varied significantly depending on the meridian being assessed,except for ATA at 4-10 versus 3-9 o’clock and for STS at 4-10 versus 3-9 o’clock and at 3-9 versus 2-8 o’clock(p>0.1).R^(2) values ranged from 0.49 to 0.75 for ATA and STS at the different meridians,showing the best correlation at 3-9 o’clock meridian(0.64 and 0.75,respectively)and the worst at 6-12 o’clock meridian(R^(2)=0.49 for both ATA and STS).Conclusions:ATA and STS distances vary radially,thus showing that the anterior chamber is vertically ***,it is advisable to measure these two distances along the meridian to be used.

This paper proposes that poetic form is a phonetic-conceptual integration that works from the iconic relations and cognitive mapping between the phonetic complex and the conceptualaffective complex,and that such mappings can be analyzed using the blending model by Fauconnier and *** literary expressions maintain a relation of iconicity with its meaning,it is possible to perform a metaphorical reading of the text as a single poetic form or a sole symbolic *** an example of the application of this model in literary analysis,some stylistic strategies from "Los inocentes",by Ines Arredondo,are analyzed with the purpose of showing the effects of iconic relationships that are created between the phonetic complex and the conceptual-affective complex at the moment of building the meaning of the literary text.

Modem communications is an indispensable tool for modem social economy and modem social life. The payload of a communication satellite provides radio relay for links between earth stations. With most commercial communication satellites the payload consists of two distinct parts with well defined interfaces： the repeater and the antennas. The repeater designates the electronic equipment which performs a range of functions on the signals from the receiving antenna before delivering them to the transmitting antenna. The VX-SAT project is a system engineering exercise, realized in the China Academy of Space Technology （CAST） with the objective of training the persons in charge of designing futures communication satellites in the Bolivarian Agency of Space Activities （ABAE） in Venezuela. This paper includes an overview of the VX-SAT system, the preliminary design of the communications payload and finally the method used to design the redundancy ring of the transponder subsystem.

In wireless sensor networks （WSNs） the position information of individual nodes is a matter of vital importance because allows the implementation of necessary network functions such as routing, querying and other applications. The objective of this paper is to propose an algorithm of three-dimensional distributed range-free localization for WSNs, using a mobile beacon （MB） equipped with a rotary and tilting directional antenna. This algorithm, denominated as the three-dimensional azimuthally defined area localization algorithm （3D- ADAL）, is executed in each sensor node and is based only on the analysis of the information received from the MB, therefore is energy efficient and contributes to extend the lifetime of the sensor network. Additionally the proposed algorithm has the advantage of being simple and economical. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is a practical, effective and accurate method for a three-dimensional location of sensor nodes in a WSN.

The architect takes that idea and applies it in the project, and he focuses on prioritizing the pedestrian over the cars. Public spaces filled with green zones are a main element, water treatment is a design determinant, buildings use natural illumination as much as possible and culture and arts are reinforced through new scenarios.

S-ALOHA （Slotted ALOHA） random access protocol is a widely used protocol mainly for the transmission of short packets in wireless networks. Most papers consider either an infinite population model where the impact of the backoff protocol cannot be adequately evaluated or a finite population model where the number of nodes is fixed. In this letter, a combination of both models is proposed using the time-scale decomposition technique. This methodology allows to study the system under more realistic conditions where the dynamics of users enter and leaving the system are reflected on the performance of the system as well as the impact of the backoff protocol. Also, it allows studying the system in non-saturation conditions. The proposed methodology divides the analysis in two parts： packet-level and connection-level. This analysis renders suitable results when the time scale of the packet level and connection level statistics is different. On the other hand, when these scales are similar, the proposed methodology is no longer suited.

Revisit Language Modeling Competition and Extinction: A Data-Driven Validation

Understanding language competition and extinction is an interdisciplinary challenge, and math models provide a tool for interpreting linguistic census data and possibly predict the language shift trend at the population scale. In this study, new data from previously examined areas were modeled, specifically Catalan and Spanish in Catalonia, Spanish and English in Houston, Texas, Dutch and French in Brussels, Euskera and Spanish in Spain and French and English in Canada. Three mathematical models of the language competition have been validated. The first is the Abrams-Strogatz model, which treats populations as having two monolingual groups. The second is the Castelló model, which considers bilingual speakers. The third is the Mira model, which considers language competition when the two languages have high similarities. It was found that the some of the data matched Abrams-Strogatz original model, but some divergences could still be addressed. It was also found that the Mira model needs some improvement in how it treats the differences between languages.
