The Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire [CCMQ] organizes 9 body constitutions according to Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM]. The translation was realized by a Medical Doctor [MD] specialized in TCM and the back translation by an english-speaking MD. Comprehensibility assessment was performed (N = 40, main scores ranged from 4.20 to 4.95). On the test-retest reliability Cronbach’s alpha was 0.920 in the first application and 0.943 in the second, the intraclass correlation scores ranged between good and excellent (0.6 - >0.80). The results show that the adaptation of the CCMQ is valid and ready to be used.

Regional odontodysplasia: Account of clinical case in permanent teeth

The regional odontodysplasia, also referred as odontogenic dysplasia, is a rare condition which has been described as an alteration of the dental development affecting the mineralized structures of both the permanent and deciduous teeth, and it has been associated with retardation in the eruption of the affected teeth, gum edema, hydrocephalus and Epidermal Nevus Syndrome. The etiology is still unknown, however, some hypotheses have been suggested about their origin. About its incidence, this disease is more frequent in the anterior segment of the maxilla and usually unilateral. Epidemiologically this disease shows no predilection for any racial group, being more frequent in the first and second decade of life and predominantly in females. Clinically the Odontodysplasia Regional is characterized as an hypoplasia of enamel and dentin in teeth badly formed with size alteration and form coloration varying of the yellow to chestnut;the presence of smooth and extremely friable dentine, tooth mobility and defective mineralization increases the possibilities of the pulp exposure and a tendency to develop abscesses. Radio-graphically has the appearance of ghosts tooth with a bizarre morphology;reduction of the normal radiopacity decrease of the thickness of the dentine and enamel structures. They generally present with open apexes;shortened or absent roots;diffuse calcification in the inside of the pulp. Histopathologically it presents with accented reduction of the amount of dentin, presence of great interglobular dentine areas and irregular standard of the dentine canals. Enamel is usually thin, hypoplasic and hypocalcified. The pulp presents atrophic areas, fibrose and hyalinization and the cement does not have marked structural alterations. The treatment of the Regional odontodysplasia has been the reason of many quarrels. This present essay aims to review the literature and report a clinical case.

Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coatings have attracted significant attention due to their low friction coefficient, high degree of hardness, chemical inertness, and high wear resistance as well as and their many possible uses in metallurgical, aeronautical, and biomedical applications. However, DLC has low adhesion strength to metallic substrates. Carbonitriding was performed before DLC deposition to improve this adherence. Different concentration of nitrogen in the gas mixture was used during the carbonitriding of Ti6Al4V alloy. DLC films were subsequently grown from methane using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The samples were characterized with Raman scattering spectroscopy, nanoindentation, and tribological tests. Films from 80.0% N2 had the best friction coefficient (0.07) and a critical load of ~22 N. In the scratching test, these films had adhesive failure and they completely detached from the substrate only in the end of the tests. SEM images show carbonitring promoted a significant increase in the surface defects (homogeneously distributed) but without the presence of microcracks. EDX analysis indicated that nitrogen element was diffused throughout the thickness of the samples. Hydrogen and carbon atoms from carbonitriding formed a diffusion-barrier layer that can be used as the first step for DLC deposition. This carbonitriding can also provide a carbide layer, which serves as the precursor for the nucleation and growth of DLC films.

Several studies with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been developed in many species because of its ability to differentiate into other mesoderm lineages, capacity of self-regeneration, low immunogenicity, paracrine, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antiapoptotic effects which make them a promissory source to be used in therapeutic strategies. The aim of this study is to report the technique of harvest of bone marrow (BM) in the coxal tuberosity (CT) of buffaloes and its processing and cultivation. For this, after anesthetic block from the region corresponding to the CT, bone marrow harvesting was performed with a myelogram’s needle. The samples collected showed plastic adherence with 96 hours and took approximately 32 days to reach 80% confluence. And then differentiation into adipogenic and osteogenic lineages was performed. Samples showed morphological changes during differentiation protocol, but not all presented production of extracellular deposits of calcium or intracellular fat droplets. The anatomical site tested showed to be an alternative site of harvest of BM once provided with the appropriate isolation and culture of the mononuclear fraction. Moreover, the procedure was performed without difficulty and with great security. Based on this, it can be concluded that CT is an excellent anatomical site for isolation and culture of MSCs and the proposed technique is viable and feasible to be held in buffaloes.

The disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has spread very rapidly throughout the world, causing various clinical manifestations and affecting several organs and systems. However, the possibility of vertical transmission of COVID-19 in symptomatic pregnant women has been questioned. The aim of this work was to report cases of possible vertical transmission in pregnant women affected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as its clinical repercussions on the newborn. In this paper, we conducted a cross-sectional retrospective study by analyzing medical records of pregnant women admitted at the military hospital, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, diagnosed with COVID-19 and who had positive newborns. To evaluate epidemiological data, clinical manifestations, laboratorial and histopathological changes were related to such vertical transmission. Only six tested newborns were positive for COVID-19. The mothers had no respiratory symptoms, and the gestational age was at term, except for one newborn born prematurely due to detection of pericadial effusion. Three neonates had respiratory symptoms, requiring ventilatory support. None of the mothers or newborns died. During the pandemic, possible vertical transmission cases of infected pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy were observed. According to the case reports published in the literature, they illustrate phenotypes of neonatal involvement with varied clinical manifestations and severity;however, further scientific studies are needed to prove the effective vertical transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in positive pregnant women.

Located in the centre of the Algarve,in the South of Portugal,the ancient village of Louléhas its origins in a Muslim medieval medina(8th Century).After the Christian Conquest of the South and namely of the Louléterritory in 1249,the Christian Administration,based on the city councils meetings,composed of good men,will have to reconcile the social and religious dynamics of the populations who stayed in the territory,formed by Jews,Muslims and *** this social,cultural and religious scenario,local administration will also assure the management of production,distribution and sale of food needed to ensure the survival and the settlement of the populations in the *** of that distribution included cereals,olive oil,wine,meat and fish,all of them representing the Mediterranean food basis of the populations from the South of the Iberian *** is about this daily concern with food distribution and consumption,in a religious and culturally tripartite society that we intend to present this article,focusing the analysis on three types of food:cereals(“bread”),meat and *** intend to demonstrate how the medieval council of Loulémanaged the production of the food and how the population was fed,using the Councillor Minutes of the LouléCity Council in the medieval Christian *** the documentation allows us to propose an interpretation for the consecrated trilogy of bread,olive oil and wine,we choose to underline three fundamental areas of the economy of the Algarve region:cattle raising and the supply of meat to the populations,the shortage of cereals with which the“bread”supply was ensured and the commercialization of *** provision of meat,cereals and fish ensured that the population was well fed,but the most interesting is that,the way the food distribution was made,allows us to understand the capacity to accept a tripartite society between“Christians”,“Moors”and“Jews”.
