Background: Most anxiety complaints are treated with pharmacological measures involving barbiturates and benzodiazepines, in which they may end up causing tolerance and pharmacological dependence. Integrative approaches such as aromatherapy are used in addition to medications to improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety. Thus, PinetoninTM, a phytocomplex obtained from a blend of essential oils aims to aid in the symptoms of stress and anxiety. Methods: The cytotoxicity of PinetoninTM was evaluated MTT assay using fibroblasts and astrocytes showed reduction in the cell viability only at high concentrations. Evaluation of intracellular calcium and determination of residual glutamate in the supernatant of astrocyte cultures showed agonist action of dihydroxyphenylglycine (DHPG) increasing linearly the concentration of intracellular calcium and the glutamate levels in the supernatants of the cultures. On the other hand, cultures of astrocytes treated with PinetoninTM showed residual glutamate levels in the supernatants reducing proportionally, as well as, intracellular calcium reduction. The determination of salivary cortisol showed a significant reduction in salivary cortisol levels in the group that received PinetoninTM. The evaluation of the electroencephalogram in patients treated with PinetoninTM had a significant increase (P Results: A reduction in dose-dependent cell viability was observed when compared to cultures of PinetoninTM treated fibroblasts with control culture. When PinetoninTM and linole are administered in astrocytic cells, there was a reduction of the intracellular concentration of Ca2+ against a control group treated with DHPG agonist. The evaluation of salivary cortisol demonstrated a reduction when the patient group was treated with PinetoninTM by purchasing the results against the group of patients treated with saline. 为了增强奶山羊自身对隐性乳房炎的抵抗能力,24头莎能奶山羊,年龄(5.1±0.6)岁、胎次(3.6±0.6)胎、泌乳天数(156±14)天、体重(68.1±7.6)kg、5分制体况评分为(1.6±0.5)分,随机分为4组(A1、A2、B1、B2),每组6头。首先给A1、A2组注射2,4-噻唑烷二酮,B1、B2组注射生理盐水;其次给A1、B1组注射链球菌(使之患乳房炎),给A2、B2组注射生理盐水。试验期20天,给奶山羊称重、采样,分析产奶量和乳成分、血液代谢参数、血液矿物质、炎症与肝脏应激、血液中的多形核白细胞和吞噬作用、基因表达和脂肪细胞大小等。试验结果表明:对于患有隐性乳房炎的泌乳奶山羊,2,4-噻唑烷二酮处理对产奶量、乳成分和总体代谢有相对适中的效果,可暂时降低胰岛素的敏感性;对炎症应答、体细胞和嗜中性粒细胞的功能有强烈效果;虽然对白细胞吞噬作用没有影响,但可增加嗜中性粒细胞的吞噬能力;可改善机体对乳房感染的反应。尽管不会增加乳脂肪的合成,但可减弱因乳房感染而导致的乳脂肪合成的下降。对基因转录没有或只有极小的影响。

目的观察长期戴用口腔矫治器治疗OSA后患者的牙列咬合变化。方法以70例平均戴用下颌前伸型矫治器7年4个月的OSA患者为研究对象。由5位专业正畸医师对比评价每位病人的初始、阶段记存模型，将总样本分为三个疗效评估组：良好变化组（16例）、无/微小变化组（31例）和不良变化组（23例），利用MicroScribc-3DX三维牙颌模型分析系统进行模型测量，分析不同疗效组间咬合变化的差异。结果不良咬合变化组通常与良好变化组或无／微小变化组之间存在着很多显著性差异，良好变化组和无/微小变化组之间的差异较少。不良变化组的平均变化量通常是三组中最大的。结论长期使用下颌前伸型矫治器治疗OSA的过程中，牙列咬合状态会在三维方向上发生变化，这种变化可依初始咬合状态的不同而被视为良性作用或不良副作用。治疗前有较深覆牿或／和较深覆盖及安氏Ⅱ类倾向的病例能够在长期戴用中获得较满意的牙列变化。

GLP-1 receptor agonists are approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and more recently for obesity treatment. The glucagon-like-peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a glucose dependent hormone produced by intestinal cells, which is involved in insulin secretion and glucagon suppression. This hormone controls glucose plasma levels and reduces food intake. Additional effects were reported in slowing gastric emptying and in inducing satiety. In clinical practice, theGLP-1 receptor agonists are associated with significant reductions in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and weight loss, despite showing a low risk of hypoglycemia. Beneficial effects have also been observed on blood pressure and lipid profile. The most common side effects associated with GLP-1 receptor agonists are gastro-intestinal motility disorders, such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, which are not associated with long-term health risks. Therefore, GLP-1 receptor agonists represent a relevant medication for type 2 diabetes, whose benefits may go far beyond glycemic control.

Organic geochemistry methods such as high temperature combustion, Rock-Eval pyrolysis and gas analysis were used to analyze oil shale from Babouri-Figuil Basin. Results show that the average content of organic matter is 36.25 %wt, while that of mineral matter is 63.75 %wt. The total organic carbon (TOC) is between 15.93 %wt and 26.82 %wt. The HI vs. Tmax diagram indicates an immature Type I kerogen. The average value of the oil potential (S2b) is 149.95 mg HC/g rock. The gases obtained by retort process are H2, CO2, CO and CnH2n, CnH2n+2. Finally, it emerges that, the organic matter of Babouri-Figuil shales was immature or has just reached the beginning of the oil window. The mineralogical study of Babouri-Figuil oil shale has been carried out by means of XRD (X-Ray Diffractometry) and XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometry). The results show that mineral matrix contains silica, carbonates, sulphates, oxides and clay minerals. Besides, compounds contain metals and metalloids like Fe, In, Ca. The main oxides are SiO2 (majority), CaO, Fe2O3, Al2O3, SO3, and K2O.

Zingiber officinale, commonly known as ginger, is a species native of tropical Asia. It is grown and used in tropical countries of America, including Mexico, where it is used for the treatment of throat infections. The aim of this study was to determine the chemical composition of essential oil of Z. officinale rhizome and evaluate their antimicrobial activity. The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation, and the chemical composition of the oil was determined by GC-MS. To determine the antimicrobial activity diffusion, agar dilution and radial growth inhibition methods were employed. Microbial growth curves were performed on the strains most susceptible. It was identified 28 compounds in the essential oil, the most abundant were eudesmol (8.19%), γ-terpinene (7.88 %), a-curcumene (7.28%), alloaromadendrene (6.56%), zingiberene (6.06 %), α-pinene (5.76 %), δ-cadinene (3.84%), elemol (3.39%), farnesal (3.45%), E-β-farnesene (3.57%), neril acetate (2.8%) and β-myrcene (2.94%). In antimicrobial activity, the essential oil inhibited the growth of 15 bacterial strains, 3 of yeast fungi and 4 of mycelia fungi. The most susceptible strains were S. aureus FES-I (MIC = 0.25 mg/mL) S. epidemidis FES-C (MIC = 0.5 mg/mL), E. faecalis ATCC 14506 (MIC = 1.0 mg/mL), C. tropicalis (CMI = 0.125 mg/mL) and T. mentagrophytes (CF50 = 0.08 mg/mL). In the microbial growth curves the essential oil showed bactericidal effect on S. aureus FES-I and S. marcescens ATCC 14756 from the first hour of exposure of the strains to oil, eliminating 99.9% of CFU in concentrations of 0.5 and 0.75 mg/mL respectively. The results validate the medicinal use of Z. officinale in the treatment of diseases of possible infectious origin.

Aim: To evaluate photodynamic therapy (PDT) in vitro to reduce the growth of Candida spp, and its synergy with the antifungals fluconazole and ketoconazole for inhibition of resistant, DDS and susceptible isolates from asymptomatic carriers and with complicated vulvovaginitis. Methods: Between 2017 and 2020, we evaluated 230 women with vulvovaginal candidiasis and 400 asymptomatic. We obtained 130 positive cultures for Candida spp from vulvovaginitis and 94 asymptomatic. Psidium guajava L. has extensive use in folk medicine. The aim of this study was to quantify the levels of phenolic, flavonoids, antioxidant activity, leathality assay and antibacterial and antitumoral activities of the extract of P. guajava. In the dry guava extract there were high levels of phenolics (766.08 ± 14.52 mg/g), flavonoids (118.90 ± 5.47 mg/g) and antioxidant activity (87.65%). The LD50 was 185.15 μg/ml. The MIC value was 250 μg/ml for Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus mitis and Streptococcus oralis. IC50 of the extract tested in the HeLa, RKO and Wi cell lines was 15.6 ± 0.8 μg/ml, 21.2 ± 1.1 μg/ml and 68.9 ± 1.5 μg/ml, respectively. The results of all analyses allow us to conclude that the dry extract of guava leaves has promising activity to be applied topically in the oral cavity or in the development of antitumor formulation or even be used as a functional food.
