Turbulence Statistics of Thermo-Buoyancy Supercritical Fuel Flow in a Regenerative Cooling Channel

Active regenerative cooling with supercritical hydrocarbon fuel is considered as the most promising thermal protection method.The existence of buoyancy force would lead to strongly anisotropic flow and thermal transport characteristics.It is closely related to the cooling performance of the engine.To elucidate the mechanisms of turbulent transport,the large eddy simulation(LES) was performed to assess turbulence statistics within different turbulence scales.The results indicated that the buoyancy and inertial force together dominated the change of turbulent structure.Moreover,the spatial thermal buoyancy effect significantly suppressed the vertical velocity fluctuation.This is due to the laminar motion caused by the buoyancy force,thereby weakening the thermal transport.For the statistics of velocity fluctuation,it was found that the buoyancy force and inertial force greatly weaken the vertical and streamwise velocity fluctuation,respectively.For the statistics of thermal transport,the results pointed out that the near-wall heat transport characteristics need to be paid more attention.The thickness of the temperature mixing boundary layer led to the attenuation of vertical heat flux,which inhibited vertical temperature diffusion and predisposed to extreme conditions of heat transfer deterioration.The results can enhance the academic understanding of the heat transfer mechanism of supercritical fluids,and give guidance for further applications of thermal protection.

As promising electrode materials for supercapacitors,nickel-cobalt bimetallic sulfides render the advantages of abundant redox reactions and inherently high conductivity.However,in general,unsatisfactory performance of low specific capacity,low rate capability,and fast capacity loss exist in Ni–Co sulfide electrodes.Herein,we rationally regulate phosphorus-doped nickel–cobalt sulfides(P-NCS)to enhance the electrochemical performance by gas–solid phosphorization.Moreover,carbon nanotubes(CNTs)as conductive additives are added to improve the cycle stability and conductivity and form the composite P-NCS/C/CNT.According to density functional theory,more electrons near the Fermi surface of P-NCS are demonstrated notionally than those of simple CoNi2S4.Electrochemical results manifest that P-NCS/C/CNT exhibits superior electrochemical performance,e.g.,high specific capacity(932.0 C·g^(-1)at 1 A·g^(-1)),remarkable rate capability(capacity retention ratio of 69.1%at 20 A·g^(-1)),and lower charge transfer resistance.More importantly,the flexible hybrid asymmetric supercapacitor is assembled using P-NCS/C/CNT and activated carbon,which renders an energy density of 34.875 W·h∙kg^(-1)at a power density of 375 W∙kg^(-1).These results show that as-prepared P-NCS/C/CNT demonstrates incredible possibility as a battery-type electrode for high-performance supercapacitors.

Due to the overexploitation of farming,as well as habitat destruction,the wild population of Chinese giant salamander(CGS)Andrias davidianus,a species with seven genetically distinct lineages,has decreased by over 80%in the past 70 years.Traditional survey methods have proven to be unsuitable for finding this rare and elusive species.We evaluated the efficacy of environmental DNA(eDNA)sampling to detect CGS indirectly from its aquatic environment.We developed several species-specific primer sets;validated their specificity and sensitivity;and assessed their utility in silico,in the laboratory,and at two field sites harboring released farm-bred CGS.We detected the presence of CGS DNA by using polymerase chain reaction and Sanger sequencing.We also sequenced an amplicon mixture of seven haplotype-represented samples using high-throughput sequencing.Our eDNA methods could detect the presence of CGS at moderate densities reported across its range,proving them as a cost-effective way to establish broad-scale patterns of occupancy for CGS.In addition,our primers enabled the detection of mitochondrial lineage mixture or introduced individuals from geographically isolated populations of CGS.

Background: Solid organ transplant (SOT) activities, such as liver transplant, have been greatly influenced by the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Immunosuppressed individuals of liver transplant recipients (LTRs) tend to have a high risk of COVID-19 infection and related complications. Therefore, COVID-19 vaccination has been recommended to be administered as early as possible in LTRs. Data sources: The keywords "liver transplant", "SARS-CoV-2", and "vaccine" were used to retrieve articles published in PubMed. Results: The antibody response following the 1st and 2nd doses of vaccination was disappointingly low, and the immune responses among LTRs remarkably improved after the 3rd or 4th dose of vaccination. Although the 3rd or 4th dose of COVID-19 vaccine increased the antibody titer, a proportion of patients remained unresponsive. Furthermore, recent studies showed that SARS-CoV-2 vaccine could trigger adverse events in LTRs, including allograft rejection and liver injury. Conclusions: This review provides the recently reported data on the antibody response of LTRs following various doses of vaccine, risk factors for poor serological response and adverse events after vaccination. Size-segregated ambient particulate matter(PM) samples were collected seasonally in suburban Nanjing of east China from 2016 to 2017 and chemically speciated. In both fine( 2.1 μm, PM>2.1) PM, organic carbon(OC) accounted for the highest fractions(26.9% ± 10.9% and 23.1% ± 9.35%) of all measured species, and NO3-lead in average concentrations of water-soluble inorganic ions(WSIIs). The size distributions of measured components were parameterized using geometric mean diameter(GMD). GMD values of NO_(3)^(-), Cl^(-), OC, and PM for the whole size range varied from 2.1μm in warm seasons, which was due to the fact that the size distributions of semi-volatile components(e.g., NH4NO3, NH4Cl, and OC) had a dependency on the ambient temperature.Unlike OC, elemental carbon(EC), and elements, NH_(4)^(+), NO_(3)^(-), and SO_(4)^(2-)exhibited an increase trend in GMD values with relative humidity, indicating that the hygroscopic growth might also play a role in driving seasonal changes of PM size distributions. Positive matrix factorization was performed using compositional data of fine and coarse particles, respectively. The secondary formation of inorganic salts contributing to the majority(> 70%) of fine PM and 20.2% ± 19.9% of speciated coarse PM. The remaining coarse PM content was attributed to a variety of dust sources. Considering that coarse and fine PM had comparable mass concentrations, more attention should be paid to local dust emissions in future air quality plans.

Objective:The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of colposcopically directed biopsy(CDB)and loop electrosurgical excision procedure(LEEP)for cervical lesions and assess their ability to detect glandular involvement.Methods:This retrospective study reviewed 4689 cervical lesions that were tested by CDB and LEEP at a tertiary hospital.The sensitivity,specificity,and predictive value of CDB and LEEP and the ratio of glandular involvement detected by these two methods were analyzed.Results:CDB and LEEP had sensitivities of 95.4%and 80.0%,respectively,for diagnosing high-grade intraepithelial or more severe lesions(HSIL+)(P=0.000)and 31.8%and 87.9%,respectively,for diagnosing adenocarcinoma in situ or more severe lesions(AIS+)(P=0.001).CDB and LEEP had sensitivities of 18.1%and 90.2%,respectively,for diagnosing invasive squamous cell carcinoma(P=0.000)and 5.9%and 98.0%,respectively,for diagnosing invasive adenocarcinoma(P=0.000).The negative predictive values of CDB and LEEP for diagnosing HSIL+were 88.6%and 64.4%,respectively(P=0.000).The ratios of glandular involvement were 0.2%(CDB)and 2.4%(LEEP)in low-grade intraepithelial lesions(LSILs)and 8.9%(CDB)and 59.0%(LEEP)(P=0.000)in HSIL+.Conclusions:LEEP is superior to CDB for diagnosing AIS and detecting early invasive cancer.It should be offered as an additional investigation to all patients with AIS,HSIL,or LSIL with glandular involvement on CDB.

Organoids are three-dimensional cellular structures with self-organizing and self-differentiation capacities.They faithfully recapitulate structures and functions of in vivo organs as represented by functionality and microstructural definitions.Heterogeneity in in vitro disease modeling is one of the main reasons for anti-cancer therapy failures.Establishing a powerful model to represent tumor heterogeneity is crucial for elucidating tumor biology and developing effective therapeutic strategies.Tumor organoids can retain the original tumor heterogeneity and are commonly used to mimic the cancer microenvironment when co-cultured with fibroblasts and immune cells;therefore,considerable effort has been made recently to promote the use of this new technology from basic research to clinical studies in tumors.In combination with gene editing technology and microfluidic chip systems,engineered tumor organoids show promising abilities to recapitulate tumorigenesis and metastasis.In many studies,the responses of tumor organoids to various drugs have shown a positive correlation with patient responses.Owing to these consistent responses and personalized characteristics with patient data,tumor organoids show excellent potential for preclinical research.Here,we summarize the properties of different tumor models and review their current state and progress in tumor organoids.We further discuss the substantial challenges and prospects in the rapidly developing tumor organoid field.

In this paper,we present a new stabilized finite element method for transient Navier-Stokes equations with high Reynolds number based on the projection of the velocity and pressure.We use Taylor-Hood elements and the equal order elements in space and second order difference in time to get the fully discrete scheme.The scheme is proven to possess the absolute stability and the optimal error estimates.Numerical experiments show that our method is effective for transient Navier-Stokes equations with high Reynolds number and the results are in good agreement with the value of subgrid-scale eddy viscosity methods,Pet ro-Galerkin finite element method and st reamline diffusion method.
