Decomposition of energy-related carbon emissions in Xinjiang and relative mitigation policy recommendations

Regional carbon emissions research is necessary and helpful for China in realizing reduction targets. The LMDI I （Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index I） technique based on an extended Kaya identity was conducted to uncover the main five driving forces for energy-related carbon emissions in Xinjiang, an important energy base in China. Decomposition results show that the affluence effect and the population effect are the two most important contributors to increased carbon emissions. The energy intensity effect had a positive influence on carbon emissions during the pre-reform period, and then became the dominant factor in curbing carbon emissions after 1978. The renewable energy penetration effect and the emission coefficient effect showed important negative but relatively minor effects on carbon emissions. Based on the local realities, a comprehensive suite of mitigation policies are raised by considering all of these influencing factors. Mitigation policies will need to significantly reduce energy intensity and pay more attention to the regional economic development path. Fossil fuel substitution should be considered seriously. Renewable energy should be increased in the energy mix. All of these policy recommendations, if implemented by the central and local government, should make great contributions to energy saving and emission reduction in Xinjiang.

1,8-Naphthyridines（NAP） are biological important scaffolds in bioactive molecules design. By hybrid of NAP with neonicotinoid core structure, nine novel NAP derivatives were synthesized and subjected to insecticidal activities evaluation. Some of the compounds showed excellent insecticidal activity against cowpea aphids（Aphis craccivora） with LC_（50） values ranging from 0.011 mmol/L to 0.067 mmol/L. The results indicated that 1,8-naphthyridine can be used as insecticidal structure for further modification.

Thyroid hormones (THs) are indispensable for each phyla in Chordata, while their functions in the non-chordate invertebrates are indistinct. Studies on the TH system in non-chordate invertebrates are important for understanding the evolution of TH system and may be applied in aquaculture or biofouling control at the same time. Iodothyronine deiodinases are keys to studying the TH system, as they are critical enzymes in maintaining TH homeostasis by catalyzing the initiation and termination of the effects of thyroid hormone in vertebrates. Here, we report the primary physiological effects of T4, the outer ring deiodinase activity, and a similar transcription regulation of two oyster deiodinases by TH receptor (CgTR) in an invertebrate, Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas. L-thyroxine (T4) may have an important physiological function in the oyster, suggested by the growth retardation effect of excessive T4 in umbo larvae stage. The outer ring deiodinase activity transforming T4 to T3 (3, 3', 5-triiodothyronine) was then detected in the Pacific oyster in vivo, which may be conducted by two oyster deiodinases (CgDx and CgDy). Transcription regulation of CgTR onto these two deiodinase genes was also verified by electrophoretic mobility shift assay and dual luciferase reporter assay in mammalian cells. These results contribute to a better understanding of the evolution of the TH system.

Reservoir impoundment changes original fluvial habitats into lentic environments. Fish species adapted to lentic habitats may take the advantage of such habitat changes and show typical life history traits might facilitate the population increase. Siniperca kneri rarely occurred in fishery landing in the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) area before its impoundment in 2003, but it is now a dominant species. In this study, a total of 438 females of S . kneri were collected monthly during September 2012 through January 2014 using gill nets in the TGR. The age, growth, and reproductive biology were then investigated, and compared with other S . kneri populations. The standard length at age 1 was 149.9 mm in the TGR, which is larger than the three compared populations (i.e., Sandaohe Reservoir, Xinfengjiang Reservoir, and North River), but smaller than one (the Guishi Reservoir). The youngest mature female in the TGR was age 1, which is younger than that of the two compared populations (i.e., Xinfengjiang Reservoir and the North River). The relative fecundity in the TGR was 140 eggs/g, which is higher than that of the only available compared population (Xinfengjiang Reservoir, 96 eggs/g). Our results demonstrated that S . kneri in the TGR tended to have faster growth in the first year, a younger age at first maturation, and higher reproductive eff ort. We suggest that such opportunistic-tended life history traits might facilitate rapid increase of the population.

The boreal spring Antarctic Oscillation(AAO)has a significant impact on the spring and summer climate in *** study evaluates the capability of the NCEP's Climate Forecast System,version 2(CFSv2),in predicting the boreal spring AAO for the period *** results indicate that CFSv2 has poor skill in predicting the spring AAO,failing to predict the zonally symmetric spatial pattern of the AAO,with an insignificant correlation of 0.02 between the predicted and observed AAO Index(AAOI).Considering the interannual increment approach can amplify the prediction signals,we firstly establish a dynamical-statistical model to improve the interannual increment of the AAOI(DY AAOI),with two predictors of CFSv2-forecasted concurrent spring sea surface temperatures and observed preceding autumn sea *** dynamical-statistical model demonstrates good capability in predicting DY AAOI,with a significant correlation coeffcient of 0.58 between the observation and prediction during 1983-2015 in the two-year-out ***,we obtain an improved AAOI by adding the improved DY AAOI to the preceding observed *** improved AAOI shows a significant correlation coeffcient of 0.45 with the observed AAOI during ***,the unrealistic atmospheric response to March-April-May sea ice in CFSv2 may be the possible cause for the failure of CFSv2 to predict the *** study gives new clues regarding AAO prediction and short-term climate prediction.

Density functional theory computations were performed to investigate hydrogen adsorption in metaldecorated defective BN nanosheets. The binding energies of Ca and Sc on pristine BN nanosheets are much lower than the corresponding cohesive energies of the bulk metals; however, B vacancies in BN nanosheets enhance the binding of Ca and Sc atoms dramatically and avoid the clustering of the metal atoms on the surface of BN nanosheets. Ca and Sc strongly bind to defective BN nanosheets due to charge transfer between metal atoms and BN nanosheets. So-decorated BN nanosheets with B vacancies demonstrate promising hydrogen adsorption performances with a hydrogen adsorption energy of -0.19 - -0.35 eV/H2.

In order to provide basic data for practical application,photodegradation experiment of Nnitrosodimethylamine(NDMA)in aqueous solution was carried out with a low-pressure Hg *** of the initial concentration of NDMA,solution pH,dissolved oxygen,and the presence of humic acid on NDMA photodegradation were *** at various initial concentrations selected in this study was almost completely photodegraded by UV irradiation within 20 min,except that at 1.07 mmol/L,NDMA could be photodegraded almost completely in the acidic and neutral solutions,while the removal efficiency decreased remarkably in the alkaline *** oxygen enhanced the NDMA photodegradation,and the presence of humic acid inhibited the degradation of *** on the initial concentration of NDMA,NDMA photodegradation by UV obeyed the pseudo-first-order ***,nitrite,and nitrate were detected as the photodegradation products of NDMA.^(1)O_(2) was found to be the reactive oxygen species present in the NDMA photodegradation process by UV,based on the inhibiting experiments using tert-butanol and sodium azide.

A novel multi-focus polychromatic image fusion algorithm based on filtering in the frequency domain using fast Fourier transform(FFT) and synthesis in the space domain(FFDSSD) is presented in this ***,the original multi-focus images are transformed into their frequency data by FFT for easy and accurate clarity *** a Gaussian low-pass filter is used to filter the high frequency information corresponding to the image *** an inverse FFT,the filtered images are *** deviation between the filtered images and the original ones,representing the clarity of the image,is used to select the pixels from the multi-focus images to reconstruct a completely focused *** operations in space domain preserve the original information as much as possible and are relatively insensitive to misregistration scenarios with respect to transform domain *** polychromatic noise is well considered and successfully avoided while the information in different chromatic channels is preserved.A natural,nice-looking fused microscopic image for human visual evaluations is obtained in a dedicated *** experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm has a good performance in objective quality metrics and runtime efficiency.
