Hyperthyroid heart disease(HHD)is one of the most severe complications of overt hyperthyroidism and increases the risk of mortality in affected *** identification of patients at a higher risk of developing HHD can improve clinical outcomes through active surveillance and *** tissue growth factor(CTGF),a secreted extracellular protein,plays a significant role in cardiac remodeling and *** aimed to investigate the association between plasma CTGF level and the risk of HHD in this study.A total of 142 overt hyperthyroid patients without HHD and 99 patients with HHD were *** plasma CTGF levels were measured using ELISA *** clinical medical data and echocardiography parameters were recorded for *** plasma CTGF level was significantly higher in patients with HHD than in those without HHD(P=0.002).The plasma CTGF level was positively correlated with free triiodothyronin,tryrotropin receptor antibody,troponin I and lactate dehydrogenase levels and the left atrium diameters,right atrium diameters,and right ventricular end-diastolic diameters(all P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that quartiles 3 and 4 of plasma CTGF levels were significantly associated with the increased risk of HHD(crude OR:2.529;95%CI:1.188-5.387).However,after adjustment for the potentially confounding variables,quartile 4 alone was significantly associated with the higher risk of HHD relative to quartile *** patients with HHD display higher plasma CTGF ***,CTGF is an independent risk factor for ***,the plasma CTGF level may be a potential biomarker for the risk of HHD.

Graph is a well known data structure to represent the associated relationships in a variety of applications,e.g.,data science and machine *** a wealth of existing efforts on developing graph processing systems for improving the performance and/or energy efficiency on traditional architectures,dedicated hardware solutions,also referred to as graph processing accelerators,are essential and emerging to provide the benefits significantly beyond what those pure software solutions can *** this paper,we conduct a systematical survey regarding the design and implementation of graph processing ***,we review the relevant techniques in three core components toward a graph processing accelerator:preprocessing,parallel graph computation,and runtime *** also examine the benchmarks and results in existing studies for evaluating a graph processing ***,we find that there is not an absolute winner for all three aspects in graph acceleration due to the diverse characteristics of graph processing and the complexity of hardware *** finally present and discuss several challenges in details,and further explore the opportunities for the future research.

A new design of surface plasmon resonance(SPR)sensor employing circular-lattice holey fiber to achieve highsensitivity detection is *** sensing performance of the proposed sensor is numerically investigated and the results indicate that our proposed SPR sensor can be applied to the near-mid infrared ***,the maximum wavelength sensitivity of our proposed sensor can reach as high as 1.76×10^(4)nm/refractive index unit(RIU)and the maximum wavelength interrogation resolution can be up to 5.68×10^(-6)RIU when the refractive index(RI)of analyte lies in(1.31,1.36).Thanks to its excellent sensing performance,our proposed SPR sensor will have great potential applications for biological analytes detection,food safety control,bio-molecules detection and so on.

AIM: To investigate the effect of repair materials for orbital blowout fractures on the occurrence of postoperative complications. METHODS: The clinical data and follow-up data of 54 subjects with orbital blowout fractures were retrospectively analyzed. The study was divided into three groups according to the used repair materials: titanium mesh(16 cases), Medpor(12 cases), and Medpor titanium mesh(26 cases). All test data were analyzed using the SPSS version 23.0 statistical software. The mean age and duration of disease between the groups were compared through oneway analysis of variance. The Chi-square(χ~2) test was used to compare the number of males and females, different fracture types, and different surgical approaches among groups. The χ~2 test was used to compare the frequencies for complications in each ***: The baseline characteristics of age and gender in each group were matched(F=1.763, P=0.172;χ~2=0.026, P=0.987). In addition, there was no difference in the type of fracture and surgical approach(χ~2=0.460, P=0.977;χ~2=0.691, P=0.952), or the incidence of complications(χ~2=0.081, P=0.960) between the three groups. CONCLUSION: Although there is no difference in effect of various repair materials on the incidence of complications, the effect of repair materials on postoperative complications of orbital blowout fractures should not be ignored.

With the rapid growth of real-world graphs,the size of which can easily exceed the on-chip(board)storage capacity of an accelerator,processing large-scale graphs on a single Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)becomes *** multi-FPGA acceleration is of great necessity and *** cloud providers(e.g.,Amazon,Microsoft,and Baidu)now expose FPGAs to users in their data centers,providing opportunities to accelerate large-scale graph *** this paper,we present a communication library,called FDGLib,which can easily scale out any existing single FPGA-based graph accelerator to a distributed version in a data center,with minimal hardware engineering *** provides six APIs that can be easily used and integrated into any FPGA-based graph accelerator with only a few lines of code *** the torus-based FPGA interconnection in data centers,FDGLib also improves communication efficiency using simple yet effective torus-friendly graph partition and placement *** interface FDGLib into AccuGraph,a state-of-the-art graph *** results on a 32-node Microsoft Catapult-like data center show that the distributed AccuGraph can be 2.32x and 4.77x faster than a state-of-the-art distributed FPGA-based graph accelerator ForeGraph and a distributed CPU-based graph system Gemini,with better scalability.

●AIM:To explore the combined application of surgical navigation nasal endoscopy(NNE)and three-dimensional printing technology(3DPT)for the adjunctive treatment of orbital blowout fractures(OBF).●METHODS:Retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of patients with OBF who underwent surgical treatment at the Affiliated Eye Hospital of Nanchang University between July 2012 and November *** control group consisted of patients who received traditional surgical treatment(n=43),while the new surgical group(n=52)consisted of patients who received NNE with *** difference in therapeutic effects between the two groups was evaluated by comparing the duration of the operation,best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),enophthalmos difference,recovery rate of eye movement disorder,recovery rate of diplopia,and incidence of postoperative complications.●RESULTS:The study included 95 cases(95 eyes),with 63 men and 32 *** patients’age ranged from 5 to 67y(35.21±15.75y).The new surgical group and the control group exhibited no statistically significant differences in the duration of the operation,BCVA and enophthalmos *** recovery rates of diplopia in the new surgical group were significantly higher than those in the control group at 1mo[OR=0.03,95%CI(0.01–0.15),P<0.0000]and 3mo[OR=0.11,95%CI(0.03–0.36),P<0.0000]***,the recovery rates of eye movement disorders at 1 and 3mo after surgery were OR=0.08,95%CI(0.03–0.24),P<0.0000;and OR=0.01,95%CI(0.00–0.18),P<*** incidence of postoperative complications was lower in the new surgical group compared to the control group[OR=4.86,95%CI(0.95–24.78),P<0.05].●CONCLUSION:The combination of NNE and 3DPT can shorten the recovery time of diplopia and eye movement disorder in patients with OBF.

A patented kinetic uricase method was evaluated for serum uric acid assay. Initial absorbance of the reaction mixture before uricase action （A0） was obtained by correcting the absorbance at 293 nm measured before the addition of uricase solution, and background absorbance （Ab） was predicted by an integrated method. Uric acid concentration in reaction solution was calculated from AA, the difference between A0 and Ab, using the absorptivity preset for uric acid. This kinetic uricase method exhibited CV〈4.3% and recovery of 100%. Lipids, bilirubin, hemoglobin, ascorbic acid, reduced glutathione and xanthine 〈0.32 mmol/L in serum had no significant effects. △A linearly responded to 1.2 to 37.5 μmol/L uric acid in reaction solution containing 15 μl serum. The slope of linear response was consistent with the absorptivity preset for uric acid while the intercept was consistent with that for serum alone. Uric acid concentrations in clinic sera by different uricase methods positively correlated to each other. By Bland-Altman analysis, this kinetic uricase method accorded with that by quantifying the total change of UV absorbance on the completion of uricase reaction. These results demonstrated that this kinetic uricase method is reliable for serum uric acid assay with enhanced resistance to both xanthine and other common errors, wider range of linear response and much lower cost.

At 0.12 mmol/L γ-glutamyl p-nitroaniline(GGPNA),an improved integrated method was developed for kinetic analysis of γ-glutamyltransferase(GGT) reaction process and the integration with the classical initial rate method to measure serum *** the improved integrated method,an integrated rate equation,which used the predictor variable of reaction time and considered inhibitions by both GGPNA and products,was nonlinearly fit to GGT reaction *** the integration strategy,classical initial rates were estimated when GGPNA consumption percentages were below 50%;otherwise,maximal reaction rates of GGT were estimated by the improved integrated method and converted into initial rates according to the differential rate equation at 0.11 mmol/L *** inte-gration strategy was validated using optimized GGT kinetic parameters and 10-s intervals to record reaction curves within 8.0 *** the integration strategy,there was a linear response from 0.9 to 32.0 U/L GGT,coefficients of variation were below 3.5%for GGT from 8.0 to 32.0 U/L(n=5) ,and GGT activities in clinical sera responded linearly to their classical initial rates at 2.00 mmol/L GGPNA with an expected ***,the integration strategy was successful in measuring GGT at 0.12 mmol/L GGPNA.
