The main objective of this work is to design an optimal—efficient economic power renewable energy system that feeds the required electric load of a small scale brackish reverse osmosis desalination unit and a tourism motel located in Hurghada, Egypt. Four renewable energy power systems are presented in this paper to select the most optimum one of them. These suggested renewable energy systems are PV-wind hybrid system, stand-alone wind system, stand-alone photovoltaic system and PV-wind-fuel cell hybrid system. The sizing, optimization and economic estimation of the proposed systems were performed using HOMER software. HOMER solves the optimization problem to minimize the global cost and provides the optimum wind turbine, PV, battery and fuel cell ratings. In addition, a comparison between the four different suggested power system configurations is illustrated in details. PV-wind hybrid system realized the lowest net present cost and levelized cost of energy. Also, this system was able to provide energy approximately all the day. The battery state of charge varies between 83% and 99% and it was found that, the PV-wind hybrid system is more suitable than the others for the selected site and the suggested electrical load.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a life threatening condition with still high mortality rate in neonates. Early recognition of the risk factors and the rapid effective treatment of the contributing conditions will reduce AKI in the neonatal period. Aim of the Work: To determine association between early caffeine citrate administration and risk of acute kidney injury in hospitalized preterm neonates. Patients and Methods: This study was a prospective study that was conducted at the NICU of El Galaa Teaching Hospital. This study included 100 preterm neonates who were born alive from 32 weeks to 35 weeks of gestation. Results: There was highly statistically significant occurrence of apneaic episode in preterm babies who don’t receive caffeine citrate and consequently decreased incidence of AKI in those babies. Background: Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) is reported to have an antioxidant and cardioprotective properties. Recently, an association of glutamine (Gln) or (type A)/arginine (Arg) or (type B) polymorphism at position 192 of PON1 gene has been suggested with coronary artery disease (CAD) among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). However, conflicting results have also been reported. Objectives: To investigate the relationship between PON1 gene (Gln192-Arg) poly-morphism and the presence, extent and severity of CAD in type 2 DM. Methods: The study comprised 180 patients recruited from those undergoing coronary angiography for suspected CAD, who were divided according to the presence or absence of CAD and DM into 4 groups;Group I (n = 40 patients) nondiabetic subjects without CAD, Group II (n = 45 patients) diabetic patients without CAD, Group III (n = 47 patients) non diabetic patients with CAD and Group IV (n = 48 patients) diabetic patients with CAD. PON1 (Gln192-Arg) genotype was assessed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by AlwI digestion. Results: The frequency of Gln allele (Type A) was significantly higher in group I and group II compared to group III and group IV (62.5%, 60% vs 38.3%, 31.25% respectively, p 100 mg/dL [OR 4.31, CI (1.25 - 12.5), P ele [OR 4.62, CI (1.67 - 13.57), P ele of PON1 192 gene polymorphism is an independent risk factor for CAD and it is associated not only with the presence of CAD but also with its extent and severity and its impact is clearly more pronounced in diabetic patients.

Ricinus communis have attracted considerable attention because of its specific industrial and pharmacological activities. DNA barcodes can be used as reliable tools to facilitate the identification of medicinal plants for the safe use, quality control and forensic investigation. In this study, the differential identification of eight accessions of R. com-munis was investigated through DNA sequence analysis of two candidate DNA barcodes. The nucleotide sequence of internal transcribed spacers (ITS2) and chloroplast maturase gene (matK) have been determined to construct the phylogenetic tree. The phylogenetic relationships of accessions based on the nrITS2 region and partial matK region showed that all accessions in this study were related to three geographical origins. Based on sequence align-ment and phylogenetic analyses we concluded that the ITS2 sequences can distinguish R. communis accessions from different geographical distributions.

Study to Solve the Problem of Color Reversion in Refined Soybean Oil

This study carried out on the soybean oil samples taken from the processing lines during refining process (degumming, neutralization, bleaching and deodorization process) for crude soybean oil as well as on color reversed oil after deodorization step during storage for several hours to study the physical and chemical properties (color, refractive index (RI), free fatty acid (FFA), peroxide value (PV), p-Anisidine value (p-AV), total oxidative (TOTOX) value, oxidative stability (OS), saponification value (SV), iodine value (IV), unsaponifiable matter (unsap. %), soap content, minerals, waxes, total phenols content, K232 and k270 nm), the fatty acids composition, sterol compound, total tocopherols and their components (α, β, γ and δ tocopherol) and tocored compound for these oils and to find out the reason for the color reversion after a short period from storage for the deodorized soybean oil. Citric acid has been added (0.2%) to each color reversed and neutralized soybean oils, then procedure of bleaching and deodorization process on them, and studied its effect on the physical and chemical properties for them specially the color units (red and yellow), tocopherols contents and tocored compound. The results showed that refining process for soybean oil caused to a gradual decrease in values of AV, oxidative stability, IV, wax, % Unsapo., K232 and K270 nm, total polyphenols, minerals (P, Ca and Mg), total tocopherols and their compounds (α, β, γ and δ tocopherol) and also caused decrease in all sterol components, but they showed a few differences in percentages of fatty acids as result refining process. Color values (red and yellow unites) recorded gradually decreased during refining process, but these values were increased in deodorized soybean oil after storage (color reversed soybean oil). They were randomly allocatedinto three groups; each group included 30 patients treatedwith intravariceal sclerosant injections in biweeklysessions till complete obturation of gastric varices;Group I （n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate; Histoacryl？）, GroupII （iso-amyl-2-cyanoacrylate; Amcrylate？） and GroupIII （mixture of 72% chromated glycerin; Scleremo？with glucose solution 25%）. All the procedures wereperformed electively without active bleeding. Recruitedpatients were followed up for 3 ***： 26% of Scleremo group had bleeding duringpuncture vs 3.3% in each of the other two groups withsignificant difference, （P 〈 0.05）. None of Scleremogroup had needle obstruction vs 13.3% in each of theother two groups with no significant difference, （P 〉0.05）. Rebleeding occurred in 13.3% of Histoacryl andAmcrylate groups vs 0% in Scleremo group with nosignificant difference. The in hospital mortality was 6.6%in both Histoacryl and Amcrylate groups, while it was0% in Scleremo group with no significant difference. Inthe first and second sessions, the amount of Scleremoneeded for obturation was significantly high, while the amount of Histoacryl was significantly low. Scleremo was the less costly of the two treatments. CONCLUSION： All used sclerosant substances showed efficacy and success in management of gastric varices with no significant differences except in total amount,cost and bleeding during puncture.

Background: Speckle tracking echocardiography using average global strain and strain rate (SR) parameters for early detection of high risk patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) has gained a substantial clinical interest. Objective: Assessment of the diagnostic accuracy of strain imaging of the left ventricle in detection of obstructive coronary artery disease. Methods: One hundred patients were enrolled. They were divided into 3 groups: Group I (n = 40 patients) presented with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), Group II (n = 40 patients) presented with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) or unstable angina (UA) and Group III (n = 20 patients) with normal coronary angiography served as a control group. All patients were subjected to 2D speckle tracking echocardiography (2D STE) to assess LV longitudinal strain and strain rate (SR). Sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy of 2D STE in prediction of CAD and its severity using Gensini score were assessed. Results: The mean age for Group I, II and III was 52.20 ± 11.83, 51.97 ± 14.53 and 52.75 ± 10.75 respectively.
