Shorebird populations are declining worldwide,mainly due to human disturbances and loss of coastal ***,supratidal habitats as saltpans could play a role in buffering human *** have shown to be important as feeding or breeding sites of some shorebird species.A potential conservation strategy to increase shorebird populations in saltpans is to manipulate the cues that birds use to select optimal breeding *** it is hypothesized that shorebirds are attracted to bivalve shells due to the advantages they *** this hypothesis,we supplemented a restored saltpan in 2019 and 2021 with bivalve shells,expecting an increase in the number of breeding birds’ *** than 75% of Kentish Plover(Charadrius alexandrinus) and Little Tern(Sternula albifrons) nests were found in patches with shells in both *** best model for both species indicates that the presence of shells is the factor that most correlates with the location of *** probability of choosing one place over another to settle their nest increases in areas with an abundance of shells,double in the case of the Kentish Plover and triple in the case of the Little *** result of this study may constitute a valuable tool for attracting birds to restored saltpans and could contribute to the success of expensive restoration projects where time is usually a constraint.

Camalote Grass (Paspalum fasciculatum Willd) as a Sustainable raw material for the Production of Lignocellulosic Ethanol

The current trend of replacing a percentage of gasoline with ethanol has pr.moted the development of new processes for its production fr.m lignocellulosic biomass. This work reports the production of ethanol fr.m the Camalote grass (Paspalum fasciculatum Willd). The lignocellulosic biomass was subjected to acid hydrolysis at 125C and 15 psi with H2SO4 concentrations at 5%, 10%, and 20%, obtaining an average of reducing sugars (pentoses and hexoses) fr.m the hydrolyzed juice with 12.3%, 10%, and 17% Brix, respectively. The sugars were fermented using yeast of the Sacchar.myces cerevisiae at 30C for 48 hours. Finally, the ethanol was distilled at 78C, and the average yields were obtained through analysis of variance with a 95% confidence level. The values indicate that there is a significant difference (p > 0.05), the Tukey study shows that all the % v/v averages are different fr.m each other. For H2SO4 concentration at 5% (10.33 ± 2), H2SO4 at 10% (9.33 ± 1.8), and H2SO4 at 20% (6.33 ± 2). The acidity analysis for the ethanol obtained fr.m each treatment gave a value of 1.8 mg/L of acetic acid in all cases.

BACKGrOUND metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease(mASLD)is a hepatic manifestation of metabolic *** suggest ornithine aspartate(LOla)as drug *** To analyze the influence of LOla intake on gut microbiota using a nutritional model of *** Adult male Sprague Dawley rats were randomized into three groups:Control(10 rats fed with a standard diet),mASLD(10 rats fed with a high-fat and choline-deficient diet),and LOla(10 rats receiving 200 mg/kg/d LOla,after the 16th week receiving high-fat and choline-deficient diet).After 28 wk of the exper.ment,animals were euthanized,and feces present in the intestine were *** fecal DNA extraction,the V4 region of the 16S rrNA gene was amplified followed by sequencing in an Ion S5™*** Alpha and beta diversity metrics were comparable between mASLD and LOla.3 OTUs were differentially abundant between mASLD and LOla,which belong to the species Helicobacter rodentium,Parabacteroides goldsteinii,and Parabacteroides *** functional prediction provided two different metabolic profiles between mASLD and *** 9 pathways differentially abundant in mASLD are related to a change in energy source,adenosine/purine nucleotides degradation as well as guanosine and adenosine deoxyribonucleotides *** 14 pathways differentially abundant in LOla are associated with four.major.metabolic functions pr.marily influenced by L-aspartate,including tricarboxylic acid cycle pathways,purine/guanosine nucleotides biosynthesis,pyr.midine ribonucleotides biosynthesis and salvage as well as lipid IVA *** Although LOla had no influence on alpha and beta diversity in this nutritional model of mASLD,it was associated with changes in specific gut microbes and their related metabolic pathways.

The blood-brain barrier is the interface through which the brain interacts with the milieu and consists mainly of a sophisticated network of brain endothelial cells that forms blood vessels and selectively moves molecules inside and outside the brain through multiple mechanisms of *** brain endothelial cell function is crucial for brain homeostasis,their role in neurodegenerative diseases has historically not been considered with the same importance as other brain cells such as microglia,astroglia,neurons,or even molecules such as amyloid beta,Tau,or ***'s disease is the most common neurodegenerative disease,and brain endothelial cell dysfunction has been reported by several ***,its impairment has barely been considered as a potential therapeutic *** we review the most recent advances in the relationship between Alzheimer's disease and brain endothelial cells commitment and analyze the possible mechanisms through which their alterations contribute to this neurodegenerative disease,highlighting their inflammatory phenotype and the possibility of an impaired secretory pattern of brain endothelial cells that could contribute to the progression of this ***,we discuss why shall brain endothelial cells be appreciated as a therapeutic target instead of solely an obstacle for delivering treatments to the injured brain in Alzheimer's disease.
