Ivermectin as an adjunct treatment for hospitalized adult COVID-19 patients: A randomized multi-center clinical trial

Objective: To evaluate different doses of ivermectin in adult patients with mild COVID-19 and to evaluate the effect of ivermectin on mortality and clinical ***: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter clinical trial was performed at five hospitals. A total of 180 mild hospitalized patients with COVID-19 confirmed by PCR or chest image tests were enrolled and allocated to six arms including hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, placebo plus hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, single dose ivermectin(200 μg/kg), three low interval doses of ivermectin(200, 200, 200 μg/kg), single dose ivermectin(400 μg/kg), and three high interval doses of ivermectin(400, 200, 200 μg/kg). The primary endpoint of this trial was all-cause of mortality or clinical recovery. The radiographic findings, hospitalization and low O_2 saturation duration, and hematological variables of blood samples were analyzed. Results: A total of 16.7%(5/30) and 20.0%(6/30) patients died in arms treated with hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day and placebo plus hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, respectively, and a reduction in mortality rate in patients receiving ivermectin treatment to 0%, 10%, 0% and 3.3% for arms 1-4 were observed. Risk of mortality was also decreased about 15% in the ivermectin treated arms. Conclusions: Ivermectin as an adjunct reduces the rate of mortality, time of low O_2 saturation, and duration of hospitalization in adult COVID-19 patients. The improvement of other clinical parametersshows that ivermectin, with a wide margin of safety, had a high therapeutic effect on COVID-19.

Zn nano rods were produced on glass substrates using oblique angle deposition method at different deposition *** oxidation,the samples were placed in a furnace under oxygen *** and FESEM images were used to morphology analysis of the *** results showed that with increasing the angle of deposition,the grain size decreases and the porosity of the structures *** pattern and XPS depth profile analysis were used to crystallography and oxide thickness investigations,*** XRD results confirmed oxide phase formation,and the XPS results analyzed the oxide layer *** result showed that as the deposition angle of the nanorods increases,the thickness of the oxide layer *** reason for the increase in the thickness of the oxide layer with increasing deposition angle was investigated and attributed to the increase in the porosity of the thin *** optical spectra of the structures for p polarized light at 10incident light angle were obtained using single beam spectrophotometer in the 300 nm to 1000 nm *** results showed that the formed structures although annealed in oxygen flux,tend to behave like *** calculate the optical constant of the structures,the reverse homogenization theory was used and the void fraction and complex refractive index of the structures were ***,by calculating permittivity and optical conductivity of the structures,their changes with the deposition angle were investigated.

We approximate the fracture surface energy functional based on phase-field method with smooth local maximum entropy (LME) and second-order maximum entropy (SME) approximants. The higher-order continuity of the meshfree methods such as LME and SME approximants allows to directly solve the fourth-order phase-field equations without splitting the fourth?ordcr differential equation into two second-order differential equations. We will first show that the crack surface functional can be captured more accurately in the fourth-order model with smooth approximants such as LME, SME and B-spline. Furthermore, smaller length scale parameter is needed for the fourth-order model to approximate the energy functional. We also study SME approximants and drive the formulations. The proposed meshfree fourth-order phase-field formulation show more stable results tor SME compared to LME meshfree methods.

Owing to the significant increase in air pollutants and the spread of infectious diseases,it seems that the use of face masks will become an essential item in human ***,there is a need to conduct more research to develop novel types of respirators utilizing upto-date science such as *** this study,we fabricated a nanocomposite fibrous filter containing modified graphene oxide(GO)and zinc oxide(ZnO)*** layer was used as an active filter for absorbing and removing air pollutants,such as suspended submicron particles(below 2.5 microns)and CO_(2),NO_(2),and SO_(2)*** synthesized nanostructures and fibrous filters were characterized by different analysis(FTIR,XRD,TGA,and FESEM),and the performance of the filters was surveyed by tests such as pressure drop,CO_(2),NO_(2),SO_(2)gas rejection,and particulate *** results showed that the stabilization of the modified GO and ZnO nanostructures on the fibrous filter improved the effectiveness of this filter as a mask for removing toxic particles and gases,and the filter containing nanoparticles had the best performance.

Problems of thermodynamic phase transition originate inherently in solidification, combustion and various other significant fields. If the transition region among two locally stable phases is adequately narrow, the dynamics can be modeled by an interface motion. This paper is devoted to exhaustive analysis of the invariant solutions for a modified Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation in two spatial and one temporal dimensions is presented. This nonlinear partial differential equation asymptotically characterizes near planar interfaces, which are marginally long-wave unstable. For this purpose, by applying the classical symmetry method for this model the classical symmetry operators are ***, the structure of the Lie algebra of symmetries is discussed and the optimal system of subalgebras, which yields the preliminary classification of group invariant solutions is constructed. Mainly, the Lie invariants corresponding to the infinitesimal symmetry generators as well as associated similarity reduced equations are also pointed out. Furthermore,the nonclassical symmetries of this nonlinear PDE are also comprehensively investigated.

Optical features of a semiconductor–dielectric photonic crystal are studied theoretically. Alternating layers of micrometer sized SiO2/In Sb slabs are considered as building blocks of the proposed ideal crystal. By inserting additional layers and disrupting the regularity, two more defective crystals are also proposed. Photonic band structure of the ideal crystal and its dependence on the structural parameters are explored at the first step. Transmittance of the defective crystals and its changes with the thicknesses of the layers are studied. After extracting the optimum values for the thicknesses of the unit cells of the crystals, the optical response of the proposed structures at different temperatures and incident angles are investigated. Changes of the defect layers’ induced mode(s) are discussed by taking into consideration of the temperature dependence of the In Sb layer permittivity. The results clearly reflect the high potential of the proposed crystals to be used at high temperature terahertz technology as a promising alternative to their electronic counterparts.

Predicting the response variables of the target dataset is one of the main problems in machine learning. Predictive models are desired to perform satisfactorily in a broad range of target domains. However, that may not be plausible if there is a mismatch between the source and target domain distributions. The goal of domain adaptation algorithms is to solve this issue and deploy a model across different target domains. We propose a method based on kernel distribution embedding and Hilbert-Schmidt independence criterion （HSIC） to address this problem. The proposed method embeds both source and target data into a new feature space with two properties： 1） the distributions of the source and the target datasets are as close as possible in the new feature space, and 2） the important structural information of the data is preserved. The embedded data can be in lower dimensional space while preserving the aforementioned properties and therefore the method can be considered as a dimensionality reduction method as well. Our proposed method has a closed-form solution and the experimental results show that it works well in practice.

Graphene materials have drawn tremendous attention in recent *** formation of holes and pores on graphene sheets can provide transfer channels and facilitate the ion/electron transport *** this study,graphene nanosheets were prepared electrochemically,and then,they were used as the starting material for the preparation of holey graphene(HG)through the KOH activation *** weight ratio of initial electrochemically exfoliated graphene(EEG)to KOH was optimized according to the morphological features,BET surface area examination,graphene number of layers calculated from XRD patterns,and the ID/IG ratio obtained from Raman *** showed that increasing the KOH amount led to the achievement of higher values of ID/IG and surface area and less re-stacking of graphene sheets which occurs because of the heat treatment *** environmental burdens of the production routes for the preparation of EEG and HG were investigated by cradle-to-gate life cycle assessment(LCA).The LCA results of EEG production indicated that electricity with the contributions of 94%,91%,82%,and 75%of the total impact in four environmental categories,including fossil fuel depletion,ozone depletion,global warming,and smog was the main environmental *** the pore generation process,KOH was recognized as the biggest contributor(about 51%to 83%of the total impact)in six impact categories,including ozone depletion,non-carcinogenics,smog,global warming,carcinogenics,and eutrophication which could be attributed to its high consumption amount(21.9 kg).This work offers environmental considerations for the development of sustainable graphene materials.
