Local meteorology in a northern Himalayan valley near Mount Everest and its response to seasonal transitions

An automatic weather station(AWS) has been installed at the Qomolangma Station of the China Academy of Sciences(QOMS) since 2005, in a northern Himalayan valley near Mount Everest, with an altitude of 4,270 m a.s.l.. Nine years of meteorological records(2006–201.) from the automatic weather station(AWS) were analyzed in this study, aiming to understand the response of local weather to the seasonal transition on the northern slopes of Mount Everest, with consideration of the movement of the subtropical jet(STJ) and the onset of the Indian Summer Monsoon(ISM). We found:(1. Both the synoptic circulation and the orography have a profound influence on the local weather, especially the local circulation.(2) Southwesterly(SW) and southeasterly(SE) winds prevail alternately at QOMS in the afternoon through the year. The SW wind was driven by the STJ during the non-monsoon months, while the SE was induced by the trans-Himalayan flow through the Arun Valley, a major valley to the east of Mount Everest, under a background of weak westerly winds aloft.(3) The response of air temperature(T) and specific humidity(q) to the monsoon onset is not as marked as that of the nearsurface winds. The q increases gradually and reaches a maximum in July when the rainy period begins.(4) The alternation between the SW wind at QOMS and the afternoon SE wind in the pre-monsoon season signals the northward shift of the STJ and imminent monsoon onset. The average interval between these two events is 1. days.

Changes are needed to improve the efficiency and lower the CO_(2)emissions of traditional coal-fired power generation,which is the main source of global CO_(2)*** integrated gasification fuel cell(IGFC)process,which combines coal gasification and high-temperature fuel cells,was proposed in 201. to improve the efficiency of coal-based power generation and reduce CO_(2)*** by the National Key R&D Program of China,the IGFC for nearzero CO_(2)emissions program was enacted with the goal of achieving near-zero CO_(2)emissions based on(1.catalytic combustion of the flue gas from solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)stacks and(2)CO_(2)conversion using solid oxide electrolysis cells(SOECs).In this work,we investigated a kW-level catalytic combustion burner and SOEC stack,evaluated the electrochemical performance of the SOEC stack in H2O electrolysis and H2O/CO_(2)co-electrolysis,and established a multiscale and multi-physical coupling simulation model of SOFCs and *** process developed in this work paves the way for the demonstration and deployment of IGFC technology in the future.

利用ML-GWAS解析玉米籽粒含水量相关性状的遗传基础

玉米成熟期籽粒含水量(KMC,kernel moisture content)是影响玉米机械化粒收的关键因素,利用多位点全基因组关联分析(ML-GWAS,multi-locus genome-wide association study)挖掘与籽粒含水量相关性状显著关联的遗传位点,解析其遗传基础,可为适机收玉米品种的选育和遗传改良提供参考。本研究以205份玉米自交系为材料,在4个环境下测定成熟期籽粒、苞叶与穗轴的含水量,使用mrMLM、FASTmrMLM、FASTmrEMMA、pLARmEB、pKWmEB和ISIS EM-BLASSO 6种多位点关联分析方法结合分布于全基因组的76492个单核苷酸多态性位点(SNP,single nucleotide polymorphism)进行关联分析,挖掘其候选基因并进行基因注释。表型分析显示,205份材料的籽粒含水量相关性状的变异系数在1..47%~33.90%,广义遗传率在67.39%~81.24%。6种ML-GWAS方法共检测到26个、1.个和23个SNP位点分别与籽粒含水量、苞叶含水量和穗轴含水量显著关联;其中3种及以上方法共同检测到1.个显著关联SNP位点,表型贡献率(PVE,phenotypic variation explained)在1.1.%~1..21.。6种方法中pLARmEB检测到的显著位点最多,FASTmrEMMA检测到的最少。基于3种及以上方法共同检测到且平均PVE≥5%的显著SNP位点为Chr1.9232728、Chr4_1.65961.4、Chr8_5771.249和Chr5_1.1.21.35,在这4个SNP位点上下游220 kb共挖掘到1.个候选基因,主要富集到细胞解剖实体、新陈代谢过程和细胞进程与催化活性,推测这些基因通过调节细胞代谢与催化活性最终影响玉米籽粒、苞叶和穗轴的含水量。

Yielding behavior of triplex medium Mn steel alternated with cooling strategies altering martensite/ferrite interfacial feature

In this paper, we report the influence of cooling processes on the yielding behavior of a medium Mn steel(MMS) with triplex microstructure, i.e. austenite(γ), ferrite(α) and as-quenched martensite(α’). After the intercritical annealing(IA) at both 725℃ and 750℃, the steel was subjected to the two cooling processes, i.e. air cooling(AC) and water quenching(WQ). It exhibits the discontinuous yielding after the AC following the IA at 750℃ while the continuous yielding after the WQ. Compared with WQ process,both the dilatometry and the microstructural examinations show that the AC process leads to lower Ms temperature, larger retained austenite(RA) fraction and less martensite, the latter is always companied with geometry necessary dislocations(GNDs) generated near the α/α’ interfaces. Considering the complexity of nanosized tri-phases in this steel, the presence of martensite with key features in the resultant specimens was systematically examined by atom probe tomography(APT) on the samples prepared by the specific target lift-out method. The APT results directly revealed the C/Mn co-segregation at the α’/αinterfaces in the AC samples but not in WQ samples. The numerical simulation results further suggest that the segregation of C and Mn at the α’/α interfaces may be due to different mechanisms. We conclude that the yielding of triplex MMS is determined by both the quantity of GNDs generated near theα/α’ interfaces, which increases with martensite fraction, and the extent of their immobilization resulting from the interfacial segregation of solute atoms when the presence of martensite is sufficient. WQ tends to suppress the discontinuous yielding of MMS since the rapid cooling may promote more martensite formed with the increasing quantity of GNDs and prevent the interfacial segregation of both C and Mn.

Improved cell performance and sulphur tolerance using A-site substituted Sr_(2)Fe_(1.4)Ni_(0.1.Mo_(0.5)O_(6-δ)anodes for solid-oxide fuel cells

Solid-oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)offer great promise for producing electricity using a wide variety of fuels such as natural gas,coal gas and gasified carbonaceous solids;however,conventional nickel-based anodes face great challenges due to contaminants in readily available fuels,especially sulphur-containing ***,the development of new anode materials that can suppress sulphur poisoning is crucial to the realization of fuel-flexible and cost-effective *** this work,La_(0.1.Sr_(1.9)Fe_(1.4)Ni_(0.1.Mo_(0.5)O_(6-δ)(LSFNM)and Pr_(0.1.Sr_(1.9)Fe_(1.4)Ni_(0.1.Mo_(0.5)O_(6-δ)(PSFNM)materials have been synthesized using a sol-gel method in air and investigated as anode mater-ials for *** nanoparticle-decorated ceramic anodes were obtained by the reduction of LSFNM and PSFNM in H_(2)at 850℃,forming a Ruddlesden-Popper oxide with exsolved FeNi3 bimetallic *** electrochemical performance of the Sr_(2)Fe_(1.4)Ni_(0.1.Mo_(0.5)O_(6-δ)ceramic anode was greatly enhanced by La doping of A-sites,resulting in a 44%decrease in the polarization resistance in reducing *** maximum power densities of Sr-and Mg-doped LaGaO_(3)(LSGM)(300μm)electrolyte-supported single cells with LSFNM as the anode reached 1.371.W cm^(-2)in H_(2)and 1.306 W cm^(-2)in 50 ppm H_(2)S-H_(2)at 850℃.Meanwhile,PSFNM showed improved sulphur tolerance,which could be fully recovered after six cycles from H_(2)to 50 ppm H_(2)S-H_(2)*** study indicates that LSFNM and PSFNM are promising high-performance anodes for SOFCs.

The doped garnet-type solid electrolytes are attracting great interest due to high ionic conductivity and excellent electrochemical stability against Li ***,the thick electrolyte layer and rigid nature as well as poor interfacial contact are huge obstacles for its application in all-solid-state lithium ***,an ultrathin flexible Li_(6.4)La_(3)Zr_(1.4)Ta_(0.6)O_(1.)-(LLZTO-)based solid electrolyte with 90 wt%LLZTO content is realized through solvent-free *** resultant 20μm-thick LLZTO-based film exhibits ultrahigh ionic conductance of 41.21.mS at 30℃,excellent oxidation stability of 4.6 V,superior thermal stability and ***,the corresponding Li||Li symmetric cell can stable cycle for more than 2000 h with low overpotential at 0.1.Acm^(-2)under 60℃.The assembled Li||LiFePO4 pouch cell with integrated electrolyte/cathode interface exhibits excellent rate performances and cycle performances with a capacity retention of 71.4%from 1.3 mAh g^(-1.to 1.9.2 mAh g^(-1.at 0.1.C over 500 cycles under 60℃.This work provides a promising strategy towards realizing ultrathin flexible solid electrolyte for high-performance all-solid-state lithium batteries.
