BACKGROUND While prior data showed an increasing incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in the United States,there are limited comprehensive and comparative data on the geographical variations of HCC trends in different demographicspecific *** To evaluate sex and age-specific incidence rates and time trends in different geographical regions in the United *** Age-adjusted HCC incidence rates were collected from the United States Cancer Statistics(USCS)database which covers approximately 98%of the population in the United *** rates were stratified by sex,age,and geographical *** percentage change(APC)and average APC(AAPC)were estimated using Joinpoint Regression.A pairwise comparison was conducted between sex-specific *** There were 467344 patients diagnosed with HCC in the United States in the USCS database between 2001 and *** rates and trends varied by geographical *** looking at the West region(115336 patients),incidence rates of HCC were overall increasing and also increasing in older ***,when evaluating younger adults,HCC incidence rates decreased in men but not in women with a sex-specific absolute AAPC-difference of 2.15(P=0.005).When evaluating the Midwest region(84612 patients),similar results were *** incidence rates were increasing in the overall population and in older adults as well,they were decreasing in younger men but not in women with a sex-specific absolute AAPC-difference of 1.61(P<0.001).For the Northeast region(87259 patients),the analysis showed similar results with decreasing HCC incidence rates in younger men but not counterpart women(Sex-specific AAPC-difference=3.26,P<0.001).Lastly,when evaluating the south(180137 patients),the results were also decreasing in younger men but not in women(Sex-specific AAPC-difference=2.55,P<0.001).CONCLUSION Nationwide analysis covering around 98%of the United States population shows an increasing incidence of HCC across all

Fragmented forest in tropical landscape——the case of the State of Selangor, Malaysia

This paper presents the pattern and changes of fragmented forest in relation with changes of total forest cover in the state of Selangor in three decades. In this study, inventoried forest cover maps of Selangor in 1971/1972, 1981/1982 and 1991/1992 produced by the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia were digitized to examine the changes in area and number of fragmented forest. Results showed that in 1971/1972, 16 fragmented forests were identified in Selangor. All fragmented forests were identified as dipterocarp forest. A decade later the number of fragmented forests increased by approximately 44% (23). Of the 23 fragmented forests, two were peat swamp forests whereas the remaining were dipterocarp forests. In 1991/1992 the number of fragmented forests (12) was reduced by 47.8%. Two of the fragmented forests were identified as peat swamp forest, seven dipterocarp forest and the other three was mixed of dipterocarp forests and plantation forests. Fragmentation of both dipterocarp and peat swamp forests occurred profoundly during the period between 1971/1972 and 1981/1982, which consequently increased the number of fragmented forests compared with before the period of 1971/1972 where fragmentation happened only at dipterocarp forests. However, many fragmented forests vanished between the 1981/1982 and 1991/1992 periods.

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Presenting as Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: Experience from Bangladesh

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common paediatric malignancy, is a heterogeneous hematologic disease. ALL patients may present with isolated and persistent osteo-articular complaints, lower incidence of hepatomegaly, splenomegaly or lymphadenopathy without clear laboratory features, and misdiagnosed as systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA). Methods: This was a single center cross sectional study over a period of 4 years. Clinic laboratory profiles of 39 ALL children were compared with 39 age and sex-matched sJIA cases. Result: Among 39 ALL patients 89.7% were initially misdiagnosed as sJIA upon clinical presentation. Majority (66.7%) of ALL patients had oligo-articular joint involvement. In sJIA, small joints of the hands were most commonly involved. The total WBC count was significantly higher in ALL patients (p-value 0.0065). CRP and LDH values between the two groups showed significant differences (p-value 0.00006 and 0.00001 respectively). Conclusion: The presentation of leukemia with arthralgia or arthritis makes the diagnosis difficult for the physicians. The diagnosis of sJIA must be made with caution keeping the possibility of haematological malignancy in mind.

Correlation of p53 over-expression and alteration in p53 gene detected by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism in adenocarcinoma of gastric cancer patients from India

AIM： To study the alterations in p53 gene among Indian gastric cancer patients and to correlate them with the various clinicopathological parameters. METHODS： A total of 103 gastric cancer patients were included in this study. The p53 alterations were studied by both immunohistochemical method as well as polymerase chain reaction （PCR）-single strand conformation polymorphism （SSCP） analysis. We only studied four （exon 5, 6, 7, and 8） of the 11 ,p53 exons. The alterations in p53 were also correlated with respect to various clinicopathological parameters. RESULTS： Among 103 cases, p53 over-expression and alteration were detected in 37 （35.92%） and 19 （18.44%） cases, respectively. Most of the ,p53 alterations were found at exon 5 （31.54%）, followed by exon 6 （26.31%）, exon 7 （21.04%） and exon 8 （21.04%）. A significant correlation of p53 overexpression was found with p53 alteration （P = 0.000）. Concordance between ,p53 alteration （as detected by SSCP） and over-expression [as detected by immunohistochemistry （IHC）] was found in 75% cases. We found that IHC-positive/SSCP-negative cases accounted for 21% of cases and IHC-negative/SSCP- positive cases accounted for remaining 4% cases. CONCLUSION： Our results show that p53 gene mutations are significantly correlated with p53 protein over-expression, with 75% concordance in over-expression and alteration in the p53 gene, but 25% disconcordance also cautions against the assumption that p53 over-expression is always associated with a gene mutation. There may be other mechanisms responsible for stabilization and accumulation of p53 protein with no evidence of gene mutation that reflect an accumulation of a non-mutated protein, or a false negative SSCP result.

On the Geometry of the(1,1)-Tensor Bundle with Sasaki Type Metric

Curvature properties are studied for the Sasaki metric on the （1, 1） tensor bundle of a Riemannian manifold. As an application, examples of almost para-Nordenian and para-Kahler-Nordenian B-metrics are constructed on the （1, 1） tensor bundle by looking at the Sasaki metric. Also, with respect to the para-Nordenian B-structure, paraholomorphic conditions for the complete lifts of vector fields are analyzed.

The subcellular localization of human proteins is vital for understanding the structure of human *** play a significant role within human cells,as many different groups of proteins are located in a specific location to perform a particular *** these functions will help in discoveringmany diseases and developing their *** importance of imaging analysis techniques,specifically in proteomics research,is becoming more *** recent advances in deep learning techniques for analyzing microscopy images,classification models have faced critical challenges in achieving high *** protein subcellular images have a significant class *** use oversampling and under sampling techniques in this research to overcome this *** have used a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)model called GapNet-PL for the multi-label classification task on the Human Protein Atlas Classification(HPA)*** have found that the ParametricRectified LinearUnit(PreLU)activation function is better than the Scaled Exponential LinearUnit(SeLU)activation function in the GapNet-PL model in most classification *** results showed that the GapNet-PL model with the PReLU activation function achieved an area under the ROC curve(AUC)equal to 0.896,an F1 score of 0.541,and a recall of 0.473.

This paper concerns the characteristics of heat and mass transfer in upper convected Maxwell fluid flow over a linear stretching sheet with solar radiation,viscous desperation and temperature based *** boundary layer approximation,the governing equations are achieved(namely Maxwell,upper convected material derivative,thermal and concentration diffusions).By using the self-similarity transformations the governing PDEs are converted into nonlinear ODEs and solved by RK-4 method in combination with Newton Raphson(shooting technique).The effects of developed parameters on velocity,temperature,concentration,fraction factor,heat and mass diffusions are exemplified through graphs and tabular form and are deliberated in *** values of fraction factor,heat and mass transfer rates with several parameters are computed and *** is noticed that the temperature is more impactable for higher values of radiative heat transport,thermal conductivity and viscous *** comparison data for some limiting case are acquired and are originated to be in good agreement with previously published articles.

The potential of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to conserve Kalappia celebica,an endangered endemic legume on gold mine tailings in Sulawesi,Indonesia

Kalapi(Kalappia celebica)is an endemic legume of Sulawesi and has been included in the endangered category since the early *** of the species is possible through ex situ culture *** mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)can accelerate plant growth which in turn supports the conservation of endangered *** study aimed to assess the efficacy of local AMF to accelerate the growth of kalapi and increase nutrient uptake in kalapi grown in gold mine tailing *** were three AMF treatments,Glomus claroideum,Glomus coronatum,and a mixture of both,plus the *** treatment was replicated three times,each consisting of five *** results show that the highest AMF colony was obtained by kalapi seedlings inoculated with Glomus coronatum and the mixture of *** range of mycorrhizae inoculation effect values was 59.7–71.3%.AMF inoculation increased growth and dry weight of 4-month-old seedlings compared to *** and total weights of kalapi inoculated with *** were significantly different from those inoculated with the AMF ***,they are not significantly different from kalapi inoculated with *** results also show that AMF increased nitrogen and phosphorous uptake by the roots,as well as nitrogen,phosphorous,potassium,manganese and iron by the *** AMF treatments decreased potassium uptake in the roots,except in kalapi inoculated with *** AMF mixture decreased iron contents the roots by 15%.AMF can be developed into biofertilizer to support the conservation of kalapi in tropical Indonesia.
