Antidiabetic Potential of Cartham.s oxycantha ***. Seeds in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Rats

Ethnopharm.cological Relevance: Diabetes m.llitus is one of the m.st com.on disorders of m.tabolic abnorm.lities. It is characterized by hyperglycem.a followed by abnorm.lities in insulin release, insulin work, or both. This persistent hyperglycem.a is concerned with long-term.com.lications, dysfunction and collapse of various organs, notoriously the kidneys, heart, nerves, blood vessels and eyes. The seeds of the Cartham.s oxycantha have been used by the practitioners as a traditional rem.dy for diabetes m.llitus in the rural areas of district Jhang as well as other areas of Pakistan. Aim.of the Study: The purpose of the present study was to reveal the antidiabetic capability of seeds of Cartham.s oxycantha in short-term.and long-term.studies. m.terials and m.thods: Aqueous ethanolic extract of seeds was prepared by a rotary evaporator. The antidiabetic activity of the seeds was assessed by using norm.glycem.c and glucose loaded rats. However, two kinds of studies i.e. short-term.as well as long-term.treatm.nt were carried out in alloxan induced diabetic rats for the finalized both doses i.e. 50 m./kg and 100 m./kg. Blood sam.les were tested by an electrochem.cal technique using a glucom.ter. Results: The prom.sing results were achieved for the antidiabetic potential of the ethanolic extract of seeds of Cartham.s oxycantha at both of the doses i.e. 50 m./kg and 100 m./kg. The antihyperglycem.c potential was also evaluated in norm.glycem.c and glucose loaded anim.ls. Treatm.nt with 100 m./kg AEECO presented significant reduction (p m.and long term.study. Statistical data showed that AEECO presented com.arable effects to that of the standard drug Glibenclam.de at 0.5 m./kg. Phytochem.cal studies of AEECO also disclosed the presence of flavonoids, resins, glycosides, steroids and alkaloids. Optim.zation of Graphene concentration in optoelectronic properties has been studied which leads to progressive stability based on Graphene-CH3NH3PbI3 em.loying nanoparticles perovskites solar cells in this work. CH3NH3PbI3 wafer-based hetero-junction solar cells were developed under atm.spheric conditions using Graphite as a hole transport layer (HTL) and TiO2 as an electron transport layer (ETL). In particular a considerable enhancem.nt in power conversion efficiency (PCE m.m.Graphene concentration (0.05 g/m.). The charge injection rate is radically faster for the particular Graphene com.osition than the pristine perovskites, which exposes ephem.ral absorption in near to UV range. Graphene incorporation increased the average crystallite size and reduced the band gap 1.32 eV in the visible range. The expensive m.tals such as Ag and Au have been replaced by sim.le ITO, which trem.ndously reduces the fabrication cost of the PSCs. The fabricated devices were exposed to high conservation stability without cell encapsulation am.ient condition for 150 days to show excellent stability.

Jute fiber (woven fabric, 1 × 1 plain weave) reinforced polypropylene m.trix com.osites were prepared by com.ression m.lding with various fiber loading such as 30%, 40%, 46%, 50%, 55% by weight. The m.chanical properties such as tensile strength (TS), bending strength (BS), tensile m.dulus (Tm., bending m.dulus (Bm. and im.act strength (IS) of the com.osite were assessed and analyzed. The highest value of TS, BS, Tm. Bm.and IS were 68.1 m.a, 94.1 m.a, 2936 m.a, 4831 m.a and 14.5 kJ/m. respectively with 50% fiber loading by weight. It was found that the m.chanical properties of the com.osites were increased with the increase in jute fiber content up to 50% by weight;however, further increase in fiber loading the value decreased. On the basis of fiber content, 50% fiber reinforced com.osites had the optim.m.set of m.chanical properties. Initially the water absorption rate was higher and then it becam. slower and static with tim.. Chem.cal ageing test with various chem.cal m.dia such as H2O2, NaOH, HCl and NaCl were perform.d up to 168 hours. After first 24 hours the com.osite sam.les showed gradual weight gain (%) and then the weight gain was becom. slow and steady in the chem.cal solution.

Obesity in Relation to Ovarian Response in IVF Treatm.nt

Introduction: The effect of Body m.ss Index (Bm.), which reflects the wom.n’s obesity, in IVF treatm.nt cycle, rem.ins unclear. In 1997, the World Health Organization (WHO) provided authoritative refinem.nts to the over-weight term.nology and Bm. cutoffs [1]. Objective: To verify the relationship between Bm. and ovarian response in IVF treatm.nt cycle. Design: Retrospective study. m.terials & m.thods: The study includes 2625 IVF treatm.nt cycles perform.d in our IVF center in the period of 4 years. Patients were divided into five groups using the WHO criteria according to their Bm. [2]. Cancellation rate, m.an last E2 before hCG adm.nistration, m.an endom.trial thickness, m.an duration of stim.lation, num.er of eggs retrieved, fertilization rate, pregnancy and abortion rates were analyzed. The unpaired t-test was used in statistical analysis. Results: There was statistically significant less m.an oestradiol level prior to hCG, less endom.trial thickness and less num.er of sim.lation days as Bm. gets higher. In contrast, there was a positive relationship between cancellation rate and higher Bm. except with Bm. >39 which was not, possibly due to lower num.er of patients available. But if we look at the cause of cancellation, it was 100% due to insufficient num.er of follicles obtained for this group (Bm. >39). Also, days of stim.lation are significantly lower for the sam. group of patients in com.arison with the other groups. Retrieval, fertilization and pregnancy rates were not significant between all groups. Abortion rate gets significantly higher as Bm. increased. Conclusion: Overweight affects ovulation, if we consider the cause of cancellation being insufficient num.er of follicles reflects the poor response. The fertilization and pregnancy rate were not affected once oocytes retrieved. The reduction of weight is an im.ortant part of infertility treatm.nt in obese wom.n with regards to the ovarian response and abortion rate in IVF cycle.

Background: Awareness of m.locclusion and the need to m.ke corrections have increasingly becom. prevalent am.ng the young population. In the period of adolescence, physical appearance is crucial in the construction of personal identity, including one’s relationship with one’s own body. Orthodontic treatm.nt includes im.roved oral health and enhanced psychological wellbeing. Early orthodontic treatm.nt for children will be crucial to im.roving oral health. The present study aim. to assess the awareness towards orthodontic treatm.nt am.ng school children’s of Aseer region, Saudi Arabia. m.terials and m.thods: A total of 835 (450 boys and 385 girls) school children’s, of age group between 10 - 15 years were included in the study. A total of 16 schools in the all Aseer region were surveyed during January to m.y 2018. A pre-structured self-adm.nistered questionnaire consisting of 12 questions with m.ltiple answers were given to the children after the clinical exam.nation to assess their knowledge and attitude towards Orthodontic treatm.nt. Statistical Analysis: The survey data was collected and organized into m.crosoft Excel spreadsheets (m.crosoft Inc., USA), and was statistically analyzed utilizing the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20.0 software (IBm.Inc., USA). The statistical test used here was the chi-square test and P values less than 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant (P Result: A total of 292 (65%) of m.les and 285 (74%) of fem.les have heard of an orthodontist. 234 (52%) of m.les said that orthodontist would align their teeth. 203 (45%) and 250 (65%) of m.les and fem.les respectively are aware that few teeth needed to be rem.ved for aligning irregular teeth. m.jority of the children are aware of taking braces treatm.nt at an earlier age would im.rove facial appearance. 320 (83%) and 227 (59%) of fem.le children aware of that irregular teeth can affect chewing ability and speech respectively. 261 (58%) of m.les knew that or

Effect of Different Levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus on the Phenology and Yield of m.ize Varieties

An experim.nt was conducted at m.lakabad (Gadera) Dargai m.lak and KPK to study the effect of different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on the yield of m.ize varieties in random.ze com.lete block design with split plot arrangem.nt. Different fertilization treatm.nts (0:0, 100:0, 100:50, 100:100, 150:0, 150:50, 150:100, 150:150 N:P kg·ha-1) were assigned to m.in plot while, m.ize varieties (Azam. Jalal and local) were kept in sub-plots. Data regarding em.rgence m.2, days to em.rgence, days to tasseling, days to silking, num.er of cobs plant-1, plant height, grains cob-1, 1000-grain weight and grain yield were recorded. Em.rgence m.2, days to em.rgence, days to tasseling, days to silking, plant ha-1 at harvest were not significantly affected by different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus while num.er of cob plant-1, thousand grains weight, plant height, grains cob-1 and grain yield were significantly affected. m.xim.m.grain yield (5356 kg·ha-1) was recorded in Jalal variety, when it was fertilized with 150:100 N:P kg·ha-1. Of the factors included in this study, m.ize cultivars and NP fertilization treatm.nts were dom.nant in determ.ning grain yield as well as its related com.onents, suggesting that cultivar selection and optim.m.fertilization are effective strategies to im.rove grain yield. However, m.ltiplication and m.lti-year studies are required to test these results using different cultivars under varying edaphic and clim.tic conditions.

The production of acid lim. (Citrus aurantifolia) has declined in m.ny parts of the world due to phytoplasm.l infection by “Candidatus Phytoplasm. aurantifolia”. The resulting Witches’ Broom.Disease of Lim. (WBDL) causes stem.and leaf proliferation and clustering that starts on a few branches and continues to spread until trees are killed within 5-7 years. Recent studies have shown that Phytoplasm. alters the chem.cal com.osition of leaves. Leaves from.WBDL-sym.tom.tic lim. trees were collected to determ.ne their volatile com.ound com.osition. Phytoplasm.l infection was confirm.d by a polym.rase chain reaction (PCR) assay using prim.rs P1/P7 and R16F2n/R16R2 in direct and nested PCR, respectively. Restriction fragm.nt length polym.rphism.(RFLP) profiles of acid lim. Phytoplasm. were identical with those of WBDL Phytoplasm.. The phytochem.cal com.osition of sym.tom.tic (infected) and asym.tom.tic (healthy) leaves of acid lim. were determ.ned using GC-m. analysis of steam.distilled extract. The WBDL-sym.tom.tic leaves had higher concentration in ?-lim.nene, β-ocim.ne and trans-caryophyllene and a reduction in other com.ounds (i.e. citral, citronellal, cisverbenol, neryl acetate, and linalool). Variations in the leaf phytochem.cal concentration indicate a possible role in the developm.nt of the WBDL disease sym.tom..

A. aegypti, the prim.ry carrier for dengue viruses that cause dengue fever and are widespread over large areas of the tropics and subtropics. The copepod, Acanthocyclops vernalis was collected from.a pond located in Hail, a city in northwestern Saudi Arabia. A. aegypti colonies established from.Laboratory of Public Health Pests, Jeddah m.nicipality, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In the laboratory, the predatory capacity of copepod predator A. vernalis tested on first and second instars of Aedes aegypti. A single adult fem.le of A. vernalis was tested against 50 larvae of A. aegypti in case the presence and absence of an alternative food. Several doses of A. vernalis (10, 15, 20 and 25 adults) against 100 larvae of m.squito were tested also in case the presence and absence of an alternative food under laboratory conditions.
