design and synthesis of noble-metal-free bifunctional catalysts for efficient and robust electrochemical water splitting are of significant importance in developing clean and renewable energy sources for sustainable energy ***,a simple three-step strategy is reported to construct cobalt-iron nitride/alloy nanosheets on nickel foam(CoFe-NA/NF)as a bifunctional catalyst for both hydrogen evolution reaction(HEr)and oxygen evolution reaction(OEr).The electrocatalyst with optimized composition(CoFe-NA2/NF)can achieve ultralow overpotentials of 73 mV and 250 mV for HEr and OEr,respectively,at a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2) in 1 m ***,the electrolyzer based on this electrocatalyst is able to boost the overall water splitting with a cell voltage of 1.564 V to deliver 10 mA cm^(-2) for at least 50 h without obvious performance ***,our experiment and theoretical calculation demonstrate that the combination of cobalt-iron nitride and alloy can have low hydrogen adsorption energy and facilitate water dissociation during *** addition,the surface reconstruction introduces metal oxyhydroxides to optimize the OEr *** work may pave a new pathway to design bifunctional catalysts for overall water splitting.

Introduction: The use of biomass for cooking is a very common practice in Africa and Benin, and is associated with exposure to organic pollutants. The aim of this study was to assess carbon monoxide exposure and respiratory disorders in women at artisanal fish-smoking sites. methods: This was a cross-sectional study of women fish smokers at two artisanal fish-smoking sites in Benin. recruitment was exhaustive. An interview using a respiratory questionnaire inspired by the Union questionnaire, spirometry and carbon monoxide (CO) measurement were carried out. descriptive analysis and comparison of means using Student’s t-test with a threshold of p = 0.05 were performed. results: The median age of the 81 people surveyed was 40, with an interquartile range (IQT) of [25 to 75]. The median duration of daily exposure to smoke was 6 h IQT [4, 7]. Of those surveyed, 64 (79.01%) were illiterate and 39 (48.24%) had been working for 20 years. CO levels at the start of activity varied from 89 to 145 ppm in one case and from 40 to 89 ppm in the other. respiratory symptoms were present in 19 (23.46%);18 (22.22%) had mild airway impairment on spirometry. There was a statistically significant decrease between the mean values of peak expiratory flow (PEF), mean expiratory volume in seconds (FEV1) and forced vital capacity (FVC) before and after exposure to smoke. Conclusion: CO levels are high on fish smoking sites and respiratory problems are common. Improved working conditions are important for these women.

目的探讨局限性脑皮质发育不良(FCD)的诊断、影像学和电生理学特点,以及手术治疗的策略与方法。方法1996年6月至2003年12月在意大利米兰Niguarda Ca'Granda医院手术治疗的442例癫痫患者中,根据该中心提出的FCD病理学分类标准,对81例诊断为FCD的病例进行同顾性研究。其中皮层组织结构发育异常(AD)42例、细胞组织结构发育异常(CD)12例、Taylor脑皮质发育不良(TFCD)27例。患者术前均行mrI、VEEG检查,61%的患者还接受了立体脑电图检查(SEEG)。结果术前mrI检查阳性率65%。癫痫术后随访1年以上总治愈率为54%(Engle Ia),其中AD组为49%、CD组45%、TFCD组69%。FCD病理分型的不同与癫痫发作频率、致痫灶部位以及手术效果有关。AD组致痫灶常见于颞叶,癫痫发作次数少于CD和TFCD组。而TFCD常发生于颞叶以外的部位,SEEG发作间期显示有典型的放电节律,且手术愈后较好。结论该分类标准简单且易于操作,对分析临床表现与判定手术效果有指导意义。SEEG技术在研究FCD,特别是TFCD电生理特征有独特的优势,并为术前准确定位致痫灶范围、保证手术效果提供了重要保障。

Our objectives were to measure glutamine (Gln) and glutamate (Glu) concentrations in the milk and blood of lactating Holstein cows, as well as milk composition and somatic cell count (SCC) throughout different stages of lactation. Samples were collected from 21 cows in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th months of lactation. It analyzed Gln and Glu in the blood and Gln, Glu, lactose, fat, protein and somatic cells in the milk. Also, it measured Gln and Glu in blood from these dairy cows’ calves. results were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, T-test and Tukey’s test, with a 5% significance level. There was a difference in blood [Gln] in from dairy cows (P nd (~0.181 μmol/mL) and 5th (~0.190 μmol/mL) months of lactation and the highest at 10th month (~0.276 μmol/mL). Also there was a higher protein content in the 5th and 10th months of lactation (~3.61% each) when compared to the other months (P re was no difference in calves’ parameters and in all others parameters from dairy cows. We concluded that the lactation period produced a significant interference in blood [Gln] but not in milk [Gln] which may indicate increase in utilization or decrease in production of this amino acids during lactation in these cows under tropical conditions.

Objective:To describe a patient with presarcopenia and chronic cough secondary to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)successfully treated with supplements and physical *** report:A 75-year-old female patient with a positive past medical history of systemic hypertension,dyslipidemia,heart arrhythmia,and smoking during 20 years evolved with chronic cough due to a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease diagnosed ten years *** came to our private clinic due to low weight,low *** weight was 44.8 kg,her height 1.57 m,body mass index of 18.18 kg/m^(2).Laboratory tests showed SDHEA 76.3,vitamin D of 15.6 ng/ml(nr:>30 ng/ml),C-reactive protein(CrP)of 55 mg/*** tomography showed *** had an skeletal muscle mass index of 5.0 kg/m^(2)(nr:>5.5 kg/m^(2))by DXA.A diagnosis of presarcopenia was determined based on DXA evaluation with low muscle mass but normal gait speed handgrip *** suggested to the patient to increase physical exercise and prescribed a supplement *** five months,she returned asymptomatic,without cough,marked improvement of fatigue,increased energy levels,and weight increased to 50 kg,BmI of 20.28 kg/m^(2).Laboratory tests showed SDHEA to 140,vitamin D3 to 64.5 ng/ml,reduced CrP reduced to 5 mg/dl,and amlodipine was excluded due to better blood pressure ***,two years later,the patient continues without cough and has dyspnea only with high efforts,without fatigue,and her weight is 52 kg and BmI 21.1 kg/m^(2).She also reduced her conventional treatment for COPD,using only a bronchodilator on-demand,without topical ***:This case illustrates an interesting case of a patient with presarcopenia and chronic cough,refractory to conventional approach,successfully treated with a combination of nutraceuticals and physical exercises.

Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis is an infectious agent that occurs in small ruminants causing caseous lymphadenitis, and more rarely in humans causing lymphadenitis and pneumonia. The breeding small ruminants have great economic importance in Brazil. rural farm workers and veterinary students who acquired this disease suffered from weakening symptoms for weeks, and the identification of the etiological agent was time-consuming and complex. Due to the low prevalence of case records, there is probably no available commercial diagnostic kit for C. pseudotuberculosis infection in humans. This study aimed to describe human seroreactivity to secreted antigens from C. pseudotuberculosis. reactivity of serum from farm workers (n = 14), individuals who work with the bacillus at laboratory (n = 8) or individuals without contact (n = 25) was tested with secreted proteins from PAT10 strain of C. pseudotuberculosis by Western blotting. Samples of all (100%) farm workers showed reactivity to 31 kDa, 71 kDa and 164 kDa proteins, while laboratory workers showed 87.5%, 62.5 % and 37.5%, and no-contact 20%, 0% and 16%, respectively. All sera recognized the 275 kDa protein. Our data suggest that C. pseudotuberculosis secreted proteins are antigenic in humans and the recognition profiles allowed the identification of individuals with and without prior contact with this bacillus. This is the first paper which describes human reactivity to C. pseudotuberculosis in serum samples of workers in Brazil.

Electrochemical CO_(2) transformation to high‐value ethylene(C_(2)H_(4))at high currents and efficiencies is desired and yet remains a grand *** show for the first time that coupling single Sb atoms and oxygen vacancies of CuO enable synergistic electrocatalytic reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4) at low *** dispersed Sb atoms occupying metal substitutional sites of CuO are synthesized under mild *** overall CO_(2) reduction faradaic efficiency(FE)reaches 89.3±1.1%with an FE toward C_(2)H_(4) exceeding 58.4%at a high‐current density of 500 mA/cm^(2).Addition of the p‐block metal is found to induce transformation of CuO from flakes to nanoribbons rich in nanoholes and oxygen vacancies,greatly enhancing CO_(2) adsorption and activation while suppressing hydrogen *** density functional theory calculations with in situ X‐ray diffraction reveal that combining Sb sites and oxygen vacancies prominently lessen the dimerization energy of adsorbed CO intermediate,thus boosting the conversion of CO_(2) to produce C_(2)H_(4).This study provides a new perspective for promoting selective C-C coupling for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction.

Understanding the immune responses elicited by SArS-CoV-2 infection is critical in terms of protection against reinfection and,thus,for public health policy and vaccine development for *** this study,using either live SArS-CoV-2 particles or retroviruses pseudotyped with the SArS-CoV-2 S viral surface protein(Spike),we studied the neutralizing antibody(nAb)response in serum samples from a cohort of 140 SArS-CoV-2 qPCr-confirmed infections,including patients with mild symptoms and also more severe forms,including those that required intensive *** show that nAb titers correlated strongly with disease severity and with anti-spike IgG ***,patients from intensive care units exhibited high nAb titers;conversely,patients with milder disease symptoms had heterogeneous nAb titers,and asymptomatic or exclusive outpatient-care patients had no or low *** found that nAb activity in SArS-CoV-2-infected patients displayed a relatively rapid decline after recovery compared to individuals infected with other ***,we found an absence of cross-neutralization between endemic coronaviruses and SArS-CoV-2,indicating that previous infection by human coronaviruses may not generate protective nAbs against ***,we found that the D614G mutation in the spike protein,which has recently been identified as the current major variant in Europe,does not allow neutralization ***,our results contribute to our understanding of the immune correlates of SArS-CoV-2-induced disease,and rapid evaluation of the role of the humoral response in the pathogenesis of SArS-CoV-2 is warranted.

Spray freeze drying of small nucleic acids as inhaled powder for pulmonary delivery

The therapeutic potential of small nucleic acids such as small interfering rNA(sirNA) to treat lung diseases has been successfully demonstrated in many in vivo studies. A major barrier to their clinical application is the lack of a safe and efficient inhaled *** this study, spray freeze drying was em.loyed to prepare dry powder of small nucleic *** and herring sperm DNA were used as bulking agent and model of small nucleic acid therapeutics, respectively. Formulations containing different solute concentration and DNA concentration were produced. The scanning electron microscope(SEm) images showed that the porosity of the particles increased as the solute concentration decreased. Powders prepared with solute concentration of 5% w/v were found to maintain a balance between porosity and robustness. Increasing concentration of DNA improved the aerosol performance of the formulation. The dry powder formulation containing 2% w/w DNA had a median diameter of 12.5 μm, and the aerosol performance study using next generation impactor(NGI) showed an emitted fraction(EF) and fine particle fraction(FPF) of 91% and 28% respectively. This formulation(5% w/v solute concentration and 2% w/w nucleic acid) was adopted subsequently to produce sirNA powder. The gel retardation and liquid chromatography assays showed that the sirNA remained intact after spray freeze drying even in the absence of delivery vector. The sirNA powder formulation exhibited a high EF of 92.4%and a modest FPF of around 20%. Further exploration of this technology to optimise inhaled sirNA powder formulation is warranted.
