Iatrogenic preterm premature rupture of fetal membranes(iPPROM)after fetal surgery remains a strong trigger for premature *** fetal membrane defects do not h.al spontaneously and amniotic fluid leakage and ch.rioamniotic membrane separation may occur,we developed a biocompatible,fetoscopically-applicable collagen plug with.sh.pe memory to prevent *** plug expands directly upon employment and seals fetal membranes,h.nce preventing amniotic fluid leakage and potentially *** typeⅠcollagen plugs were given sh.pe memory and crimped to fit th.ough.a fetoscopic cannula(Ø3 mm).Expansion of th. plug was examined in ph.sph.te buffered saline(PBS).Its sealing capacity was studied ex vivo using h.man fetal membranes,and in situ in a porcine bladder *** crimped plug with.sh.pe memory expanded and tripled in diameter with.n 1 min wh.n placed into PBS,wh.reas a crimped plug with.ut sh.pe memory did *** both.h.man fetal membranes and porcine bladder,th. plug expanded in th. defect,secured itself and sealed th. defect with.ut membrane *** conclusion,collagen plugs with.sh.pe memory are promising as medical device for rapid sealing of fetoscopic defects in fetal membranes at th. endoscopic entry point.

Th. epididymal β-defensins h.ve evolved by repeated gene duplication and divergence to encode a family of proteins th.t provide direct protection against path.gens and also support th. male reproductive tract in its primary function. Male tract defensins also facilitate recovery from path.gen attack. Th. β-defensins possess ancient conserved sequence and structural features widespread in multi-cellular organisms, suggesting fundamental roles in species survival. Primate SPAG11, th. functional fusion of two ancestrally independent β-defensin genes, produces a large family of alternatively spliced transcripts th.t are expressed according to tissue-specific and species-specific constraints. Th. complexity of SPAG11 varies in different branch.s of mammalian evolution. h.droch.r(h.)produced by th. h.droth.rmal carbonization(h.C)of typically wet biomass is generally considered to be less effective for carbon(C)sequestration in soils compared to bioch.r(BC)by pyrolysis,due to a h.gh.r content of more easily decomposable *** th. recalcitrance of h. is suggested to improve with.increasing h.C production temperature,th. way it interacts and becomes associated with.soil organic matter(SOM)fractions of different stabilities against decomposition,may also influence its effectiveness for C sequestration in *** th.t respect,th.s study aimed to verify th. potential of h.s from maize silage produced at different h.C temperatures(190,210 and 230℃)for C sequestration in a h.-amended sandy loam *** do th.s,we conducted a pot trial experiment and traced th. fate of h.-derived C(h.-C)with.n different SOM fractions,namely th. free-and occluded particulate organic matter(POMF and POMO,respectively)fractions and th.t comprising organic matter(OM)bound to clays(OMCl).Approx.1 year after applying 5%of th. different h.C temperature h.s to th. soil,th. Objectives: To assess th. relation between th. prevalence of canine h.p dysplasia, inbreeding and genetic diversity by breed. Meth.ds: Retrospective pedigree analysis of 9 breeds based on a reference population of 41,728 individuals, and h.p dysplasia assessment in 1745 dogs. Results: h.p dysplasia was less common among breeds with.h.gh.r coefficient of inbreeding, lower genetic diversity, and h.gh.st contribution of one single ancestor to th. population. Inbreeding not exceeding 3.25% sh.uld be considered safe since it will maintain a sufficiently h.gh.genetic diversity with.n th. breed. Clinical Significance: Togeth.r with.publish.d data on single breeds, th. present findings question th. general assumption th.t line-breeding or in-breeding h.s an adverse effect on th. prevalence of h.p dysplasia. h.p assessment is indicated in all breeds, but better meth.ds are needed for selecting dogs suitable for reproduction.
