Accuracy for cytological evaluation in the detection of breast cancer among patients with pathologic nipple discharge:a PRISMA-compliant meta-analysis

Background:Nipple discharge cytology is a simple non-invasive method that may provide valuable information for detecting underlying malignancy.Several studies have investigated the diagnostic value of cytology in breast cancer patients with pathological nipple discharge,but the results have been highly variable.Herein we presented a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies pertaining to the diagnostic capacity of nipple discharge cytology in patients with breast cancer.Methods:A systematic literature search was performed(Medline/PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library databases,and Google Scholar)to identify studies that investigated the diagnostic capacity of cytology with regard to breast cancer in patients with pathologic nipple discharge.Two independent researchers identified articles that assessed the sensitivity and specificity of cytological evaluation for breast cancer detection in patients with pathologic nipple discharge published between January 2000 and October 2018.Articles were only included in the meta-analysis if they met predetermined criteria.The characteristics of each study and the data they yielded were summarized.Quality assessment of all articles included was performed using the Methodological Index for Non-randomized Studies Criteria(MINORS)and the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Study 2(QUADAS-2).Heterogeneity was tested via Cochran Q test and the I2 statistic using Stata 12.0 and Meta-DiSc 1.4 software,and meta-analysis was performed.Results:A total of 286 articles were identified,of which 12 articles including a total of 1476 patients were deemed eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis.A random-effects model assessing the capacity of nipple discharge cytology to predict breast cancer yielded pooled sensitivity 63%(95%confidence interval[CI]:53%-72%),specificity 95%(95%CI:87%-98%),positive likelihood ratio 12.35(95%CI:4.87-31.34),and negative likelihood ratio 0.39(95%CI:0.30-0.50).The diagnostic odds ratio was 31.88(95%CI:11.30-89.98).The area under the summary recei

Influence of Host Shift on Genetic Differentiation of the Oriental Fruit Fly,Bactrocera dorsalis

Invasion of the oriental fruit lfy, Bactrocera dorsalis, into new niches containing different food sources （a process referred to as host shift）, may cause population genetic differentiation and sympatric speciation. To attempt to infer that experimentally, test populations were established by transferring a subset of the original populations, which had been grown on banana for many generations, onto navel orange, and then subculturing the navel orange population and banana population for at least 20 generations. Four pairs of SSR primers with high polymorphism on laboratory strains were used to detect population genetic differentiation. All six tested populations （the 5th, 10th and 15th generations of B. dorsalis fed on banana and navel orange, respectively） were found to have low genetic diversity. Furthermore, the genetic diversity of the navel orange populations was found to decline after being crossed for several generations. Populations initially were deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, however, equilibrium was achieved with increasing numbers of generations in both of the host populations. Limited gene lfows were found among the six populations. The Nei’s standard genetic distances between the two host populations of the same generation were initially low, but increased with generation number. Genetic distances between banana and navel orange populations of the same generation were lower than genetic distances between different generations grown on the same host plant. Analysis of molecular distance （AMOVA） results based on generation groups and host groups demonstrated that genetic variation among generations was greater than that between the two host populations. The results indicated that population genetic differentiation occurred after the host shift, albeit at low level. Biogeography and taxonomy of the B. dorsalis complex revealed that speciation of B. dorsalis might be tightly associated with host shift or host specialization of B. dorsalis following dispersal.

Gregory Solid Construction for Polyhedral Volume Parameterization by Sparse Optimization

In isogeometric analysis,it is frequently required to handle the geometric models enclosed by four-sided or non-four-sided boundary patches,such as trimmed surfaces.In this paper,we develop a Gregory solid based method to parameterize those models.First,we extend the Gregory patch representation to the trivariate Gregory solid representation.Second,the trivariate Gregory solid representation is employed to interpolate the boundary patches of a geometric model,thus generating the polyhedral volume parametrization.To improve the regularity of the polyhedral volume parametrization,we formulate the construction of the trivariate Gregory solid as a sparse optimization problem,where the optimization objective function is a linear combination of some terms,including a sparse term aiming to reduce the negative Jacobian area of the Gregory solid.Then,the alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)is used to solve the sparse optimization problem.Lots of experimental examples illustrated in this paper demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the developed method.

Three-dimensional(3D)-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants play an important role in the reconstruction of bone defects.However,its osseointegration capacity needs to be further improved,and related methods are inadequate,especially lacking customized surface treatment technology.Consequently,we aimed to design an omnidirectional radiator based on ultraviolet(UV)photofunctionalization for the surface treatment of 3D-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants,and studied its osseointegration promotion effects in vitro and in vivo,while elucidating related mechanisms.Following UV treatment,the porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds exhibited significantly improved hydrophilicity,cytocompatibility,and alkaline phosphatase activity,while preserving their original mechanical properties.The increased osteointegration strength was further proven using a rabbit condyle defect model in vivo,in which UV treatment exhibited a high efficiency in the osteointegration enhancement of porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds by increasing bone ingrowth(BI),the bone-implant contact ratio(BICR),and the mineralized/osteoid bone ratio.The advantages of UV treatment for 3D-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants using the omnidirectional radiator in the study were as follows:1)it can significantly improve the osseointegration capacity of porous titanium implants despite the blocking out of UV rays by the porous structure;2)it can evenly treat the surface of porous implants while preserving their original topography or other morphological features;and 3)it is an easy-to-operate low-cost process,making it worthy of wide clinical application.

Diagnostic accuracy of fiberoptic ductoscopy plus in vivo iodine staining for intraductal proliferative lesions

Background lodine staining during endoscopy has been successfully used to detect early carcinomatous and precancerous lesions in the esophagus,cervix,and oral cavity.The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic accuracy of fiberoptic ductoscopy （FDS） plus in vivo iodine staining for intraductal proliferative lesions of the breast.Methods We performed periodic acid-Schiff （PAS） and in vitro iodine staining on 52 and 64 specimens of benign mammary hyperplasia,respectively,and 57 and 53 specimens of ductal carcinoma in situ （DCIS）,respectively.Next,FDS was performed on 177 recurrent nipple discharge patients who were randomly divided into two groups.One group was iodine-staining group in which 92 patients were randomly selected to undergo iodine staining during FDS,and the remaining 85 were assigned to the control group.Biopsy specimens of suspicious lesions were obtained and subjected to histopathological examination.Results Following PAS staining,benign mammary hyperplasia lesions were positively stained,while negligible PAS positivity was observed in the DCIS lesions （P ＜0.05）.Following in vitro iodine staining,benign mammary hyperplasia specimens appeared dark brown,whereas DCIS samples appeared significantly lighter or unstained.Compared with the pathological examination results,FDS with iodine staining showed an agreement rate in the diagnosis of ductal intraepithelial neoplasia （DIN）,sensitivity,specificity,positive likelihood ratio,negative likelihood ratio,and Youden index of 97.82％,98.83％,83.33％,5.93,0.014,and 0.8216,respectively; the corresponding values for FDS without iodine staining were 88.24％,89.16％,50.00％,1.78,0.217,and 0.3916,respectively.Conclusion FDS with iodine staining was superior to conventional FDS for the diagnosis of DIN and is valuable for breast cancer prevention.

Neuropsychiatric disorders represent a set of severe and complex mental illnesses,and the exact etiologies of which are unknown.It has been well documented that impairments in the early development of the brain contribute to the pathogenesis of many neuropsychiatric disorders.Currently,the diagnosis of neuropsychiatric disorders largely relies on subjective cognitive assessment,because there are no widely accepted biochemical or genetic biomarkers for diagnosing mental illness.Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a novel class of endogenous non-coding RNA (ncRNA) with a closed-loop structure.In recent years,there have been tremendous advances in our understanding of the expression profiles and biological roles of circRNAs.In the brain,circRNAs are particularly enriched and are expressed more abundantly in contrast to linear counterpart transcripts.They are highly active at neuronal synapses.These features make circRNAs uniquely crucial for understanding brain health,disease,and neuropsychiatric disorders.This review focuses on the role of circRNAs in early brain development and other brain-related processes that have been associated with the development of neuropsychiatric disorders.In addition,we discuss the potential for blood or cerebrospinal fluid circRNAs to be used as novel biomarkers in the early diagnosis of neuropsychiatric disorders.The findings reviewed here may provide new insight into the pathological mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of neuropsychiatric disorders.

Nd^(3+)-doped Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3 cathode material with high rate capability for Li-ion batteries

A series of Nd^3＋-doped LiNdxV2-x（PO4）3（x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.05, 0.08 or 0.1） composites are synthesized by the rheological phase reaction method. The XRD results indicate that Nd3＋ions have been successfully merged into a lattice structure. Doped samples show good electrochemical performance in high discharge rate and long cycle. In the potential range of 3.0–4.3 V, Li3Nd0.08V1.92（PO4）3exhibits an initial discharge capacity of 115.8 m Ah/g at 0.2 C and retain 80.86% of capacity retention at 2 C in the 51 st cycle.In addition, Li3Nd0.05V1.95（PO4）3holds at 100.4 m Ah/g after 80 cycles at 0.2 C with a capacity retention of92.4%. Finally, the CV test proves that the potential polarization of Li3Nd0.08V1.92（PO4）3decreased compared with the un-doped one.

在机载合成孔径雷达(synthetic aperture radar,SAR)运动补偿中一般存在两个近似:波束中心近似和参考高程近似,这两种近似会在机载单天线SAR系统和机载干涉SAR系统成像过程中引入运动补偿残余误差。本文针对机载顺轨干涉SAR(airborne along-track interferometric SAR,ATI-SAR)系统,分析了上述两种近似导致的运动补偿残余误差对干涉性能的影响。首先针对机载双天线ATI-SAR系统,在不存在参考高程误差和存在参考高程误差两种情况下分别推导了其运动补偿残余误差,然后利用机载仿真参数证明了推导公式的正确性,并展示了运补残余误差对ATI-SAR干涉相位的影响程度。结果表明,当不存在参考高程误差时,由于运补残余误差导致的干涉相位误差可以忽略;而当存在参考高程误差且参考高程误差大于某个门限值时,对于相应的测速精度要求,由于波束中心近似导致的干涉相位误差不可忽略。本文的研究为机载ATI-SAR误差源分析和信号处理提供了理论基础。

Metabolic pathway databases and moot repositories

Background： The number of biological Knowledge bases/databases storing metabolic pathway information and models has been growing rapidly. These resources are diverse in the type of information/data, the analytical tools, and objectives. Here we present a review of the most popular metabolic pathway databases and model repositories, focusing on their scope, content including reactions, enzymes, compounds, and genes, and applicability. The review aims to help researchers choose a suitable database or model repository according to the information and data required, by providing an insight look of each pathway resource. Results： Four pathways databases and three model repositories were selected on the basis of popularity and diversity. Our review showed that the pathway resources vary in many aspects, such as their scope, content, access to data and the tools. In addition, inconsistencies have been observed in nomenclature and representation of database entities. The three model repositories reviewed do not offer a brief description of the models＇ characteristics such as simulation conditions. Conclusions： The inconsistencies among the databases in representing their contents may hamper the maximal use of the knowledge accumulated in these databases in particular and the area of systems biology＇ at large. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the database creators and the metabolic network models developers should follow international standards for the nomenclature of reactions and metabolites. Besides, computationally generated models that could be obtained from model repositories should be utilized with manual curations as they lack some important components that are necessary for full functionality of the models.

Research on the intelligent internet nursing model based on the child respiratory and asthma control test scale for asthma management of preschool children

BACKGROUND Childhood asthma is a common respiratory ailment that significantly affects preschool children.Effective asthma management in this population is particularly challenging due to limited communication skills in children and the necessity for consistent involvement of a caregiver.With the rise of digital healthcare and the need for innovative interventions,Internet-based models can potentially offer relatively more efficient and patient-tailored care,especially in children.AIM To explore the impact of an intelligent Internet care model based on the child respiratory and asthma control test(TRACK)on asthma management in preschool children.METHODS The study group comprised preschoolers,aged 5 years or younger,that visited the hospital's pediatric outpatient and emergency departments between January 2021 and January 2022.Total of 200 children were evenly and randomly divided into the observation and control groups.The control group received standard treatment in accordance with the 2016 Guidelines for Pediatric Bronchial Asthma and the Global Initiative on Asthma.In addition to above treatment,the observation group was introduced to an intelligent internet nursing model,emphasizing the TRACK scale.Key measures monitored over a six-month period included the frequency of asthma attack,emergency visits,pulmonary function parameters(FEV1,FEV1/FVC,and PEF),monthly TRACK scores,and the SF-12 quality of life assessment.Post-intervention asthma control rates were assessed at six-month follow-up.RESULTS The observation group had fewer asthma attacks and emergency room visits than the control group(P<0.05).After six months of treatment,the children in both groups had higher FEV1,FEV1/FVC,and PEF(P<0.05).Statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups(P<0.05).For six months,children in the observation group had a higher monthly TRACK score than those in the control group(P<0.05).The PCS and MCSSF-12 quality of life scores were relatively higher than those before the nursing period(P<0.05).Fur
