A charge transfer hydrogen bonded complex between the electron donor (proton acceptor) 2-amino-4,6-dimethylpyridine with the electron acceptor (proton donor) chloranilic acid has been synthesized and studied experimentally and theoretically. The stability constant recorded high values indicating the high stability of the formed complex. In chloroform, ethanol, methanol and acetonitrile were found the stoichiometric ratio 1:1. The solid complex was prepared and characterized by different spectroscopy techniques. FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR studies supported the presence of proton and charge transfers in the formed complex. Complemented with experimental results, molecular modelling using the density functional theory (DFT) calculations was carried out in the gas, chloroform and methanol phases where the existence of charge and hydrogen transfers. Finally, a good consistency between experimental and theoretical calculations was found confirming that the applied basis set is the suitable one for the system under investigation.

In this study,CdS/ZnO(2:3 mol%)thin films are successfully deposited on quartz substrates by using the sputtering *** images on the structural and optical characteristic features of CdS/ZnO thin films before and after annealing are *** CdS/ZnO thin films are annealed respectively at temperatures of 373 K,473 K,and 573 K and the structural features are examined by XRD,ATR-FTIR,and *** optical properties of CdS/ZnO thin films such as refractive indices,absorption coefficients,optical band gap energy values,Urbach energy values,lattice dielectric constants,and high frequency dielectric constants are determined from spectrophotometer data recorded over the spectral range of 300 nm-2500 *** parameters are investigated by using a single-oscillator *** spectra of CdS/ZnO thin films show an overall decrease in their intensity peaks after *** third-order nonlinear optical parameter,and nonlinear refractive index are also estimated.

Socio-Demographic and Behavioral Factors for Serious Injury among Adolescents in Malaysia

This study was to determine the prevalence and socio-demographic associated factors for serious injury among adolescents in Malaysia. The study used data from the Malaysian Global School-based Health Survey which was conducted in 2012. Logistic regression analysis was used to establish associations. Of the 25,507 respondents, 34.9% (42.1% males and 27.8% females) reported having been in a serious injury. Compared to participants who were not bullied, those who reported being bullied were more likely to have sustained serious injury (aOR = 2.2;95% CI [1.95 - 2.48]). Adolescents who were involved in physical fighting were 57.5% (aOR = 2.75;95% CI [2.53 - 2.99]) and more likely to have sustained serious injury compared to those who were not involved in the fighting. Meanwhile, adolescents who used substances were 52.3% (aOR = 1.68 [1.52 - 1.85]) and more likely to have sustained serious injury compared to those who did not use substances. Serious injury is frequent among adolescents in Malaysia. Based on studies by Harel, suggestion where reduction of substance use and bullying may be assessed if they have an impact in reducing serious injury among adolescents. Furthermore, educational programmes that focus on the underlying causes and determinants of injury provide an effective and efficient method of injury prevention.

As a key transcription factor in the brassinosteroid (BR) signaling pathway, the activity and expression ofBES1 (BRI1-EMS-SUPPRESSOR 1) are stringently regulated. BES1 degradation is mediated by ubiquitinrelated 26S proteasomal and autophagy pathways, which attenuate and terminate BR signaling;however,the opposing deubiquitinases (DUBs) are still unknown. Here, we showed that the ubp12-2w/13-3 doublemutant phenocopies the BR-deficient dwarf mutant, suggesting that the two DUBs UBP12/UBP13 antagonize ubiquitin-mediated degradation to stabilize BES1. These two DUBs can trim tetraubiquitin with K46 and K63 linkages in vitro. UBP12/BES1 and UBP13/BES1 complexes are localized in bothcytosol and nuclei. UBP12/13 can deubiquitinate polyubiquitinated BES1 in vitro and in planta, andUBP12 interacts with and deubiquitinates both inactive, phosphorylated BES1 and active, dephosphorylated BES1 in vivo. UBP12 overexpression in BES1OE plants significantly enhances cell elongation in hypocotyls and petioles and increases the ratio of leaf length to width compared with BES1OE or UBP12OE *** elongation and etiolation result from elevated BES1 levels because BES1 degradation is retardedby UBP12 in darkness or in light with BR. Protein degradation inhibitor experiments show that the majorityof BES1 can be degraded by either the proteasomal or the autophagy pathway, but a minor BES1 fractionremains pathway specific. In conclusion, UBP12/UBP13 deubiquitinate BES1 to stabilize the latter as a positive regulator for BR responses.

Objective: Increasing the emergence of Metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) producing gram-negative bacteria and their dexterous horizontal transmission demands rapid and accurate detection. This study was conducted to determine a suitable method to promptly detect MBL-producing gram-negative bacteria. Methods: A total of 103 gram-negative bacteria were identified from various clinical samples at a tertiary care hospital in Dhaka city. MBL producers were detected by two phenotypic methods, the Disk Potentiation Test (DPT) and the Double Disk Synergy Test (DDST) based on β-lactam chelator combinations where EDTA/SMA has been used as an inhibitor and Imipenem, Ceftazidime as substrates. Results: 103 isolates which were identified as Escherichia coli spp, Klebsiella spp, Pseudomonas spp, Acinetobacter spp, Proteus spp, Providencia spp were found to be multidrug-resistant in antibiogram test. Isolates showed complete resistance (100%) to Imipenem, Meropenem, and Amoxiclav. The highest carbapenem-resistant etiological agents were Acinetobacter spp 40 (38.8%) followed by Pseudomonas spp 27 (26.2%), Klebsiella spp 26 (25.2%), Escherichia coli 8 (7.8%), Proteus spp 1 (1%) and Providencia spp 1 (1%). DPT method detected significantly (p = 0.000009) a higher number of MBL-producers (Imipenem with 0.5 M EDTA n = 61, 59.2% & Ceftazidime with 0.5 M EDTA n = 56, 54.4%) compared to the DDST method (Imipenem -0.5 M EDTA n = 43, 41.7%, Imipenem – SMA n = 38, 36.9% & Ceftazidime -0.5 M EDTA n = 15, 14.6%). Conclusion: Pieces of evidence suggest that DPT is a more sensitive method than DDST and could be recommended for identifying MBL-producing bacteria in Bangladeshi hospitals for the proper management of patients, to reduce time constraints and treatment costs.

This study developed a short-term econometric model of world natural rubber price Standard Malaysia Rubber Grade 20 （SMR20）. Both single and simultaneous equations were utilized using monthly data from January 1990-December 2008 as estimation period and data from January 2009-June 2009 was used as an ex-ante forecast. The data were tested for unit root and Vector Error Correction and co-integration method was used to estimate the parameters of the model. The models specifications were developed in order to discover the inter-relationships between NR production, consumption and prices of SMR20 and to determine forecast price of SMR20. Comparative analysis between the single-equation specification and simultaneous supply-demand and price equation were made in terms of their estimation accuracy based on RMSE, MAE and （U-Thile） criteria. Ex-ante forecasts was carried out for the period of January 2009-June 2009. The results revealed that the values of the RMSE, MAE and U of simultaneous supply-demand and price equations model were comparatively smaller than the values generated by the single-equation model. These statistics suggest that the simultaneous equation of supply-demand and price model is more accurate and efficient measure in terms of its statistical criteria than the single-equation model in predicting the price of SMR20 in the next 6 months.

<i>In-Situ</i>Biostimulatory Effect of Selected Organic Wastes on Bacterial Atrazine Biodegradation

The biostimulatory effect of selected organic wastes on bacterial biodegradation of atrazine (2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-1,3,5-triazine) in three agricultural soils in Bauchi state, Nigeria, was carried out. The soil physico-chemical characteristics were investigated to further understand the environmental conditions of the sampling sites. Enrichment technique was used to isolate the atrazine-degrading strains. Mineralization studies were carried out to determine atrazine biodegradation potentials of strains. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification of total nucleic acid of strains revealed several bacterial species based on nucleotide sequence analyses. Biostimulatory effect of selected organic wastes carried out showed minimal to average extent of biodegradation. The highest mean values, in CFU/mL, increase in biomass was recorded in Pseudomonas sp for both Cow dung 16.76 (42.03%) and Chicken droppings 12.32 (38.46%). However, biostimulatory effect using consortia provided more promising results, with 41.51% and 42.08% in Cow dung and Chicken droppings, biomass increase, respectively, in studies conducted. This proves that competition, survival of inoculums, bioavailability of organic amendments and nature of chemical are important factors affecting bioremediation.

Objective:To characterise a collection of pili-carrying and none pili-carrying pneumococcal isolates of clinical origin for serotypes,antibiotic resistance and ***:In total,42 clinical isolates were collected between October 2017 and December *** isolates were analysed for antimicrobial susceptibility,serotype distribution,detection of pneumococcal virulence and pilus *** sequence typing was performed only for piliated isolates,followed by phylogenetic ***:The common isolation sites among the pneumococcal isolates were tracheal aspirate(28.6%),blood(26.2%),and sputum(23.8%).Fifty percent isolates were resistant to erythromycin,tetracycline(50.0%)and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(43.0%).The most frequent were serotypes 19F(28.6%),6A/B(23.8%)and 19A(14.3%).Piliated isolates were detected in a small proportion(33.3%);64.3%were ***320 was the prevalent sequence type among the piliated isolates and genetically related to the Pneumococcal Molecular Epidemiology Network clones Taiwan19F-14(CC271).In the phylogenetic analysis,some piliated isolates showed a close association having similar ST320,carrying serotype 19A and both pilus genes indicating their clonal ***:Pneumococcal lineages of piliated isolates have been globally disseminated and pili could have played a role in the spread of antibiotic resistant clones.
