BACKGROUND Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome(OHSS)is a life-threatening complication that can occur in the luteal phase or early pregnancy after controlled ovarian *** case report highlights a unique manifestation of OHSS involving pleural effusion(PE)in a patient without identifiable risk *** SUMMARY A 39-year-old woman who underwent controlled ovarian hyperstimulation for an in vitro fertilization(IVf)cycle experienced dyspnea on the eleventh day of post oocyte *** diagnosis was severe OHSS with a unique manifestation of PE without *** management involved fluid balance and treatment with albumin,furosemide,thromboembolic prophylaxis,and thoracentesis.A continued drainage of the pleural cavity was *** patient had a favo-rable outcome,and a dichorionic diamniotic gestation passed without *** OHSS and its potential complications can include respiratory distress and PE,as well as thromboembolic disorders.

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

This work addresses challenges and opportunities in the evaluation of solar power plant impacts, with a particular focus on thermal effects of solar plants on the environment and vice-versa. Large-scale solar power plants are often sited in arid or desert habitats, which tend to include fauna and flora that are highly sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. Our understanding of both shortwave(solar) and longwave(terrestrial) radiation processes in solar power plants is complete enough to render the modeling of radiation fluxes with high confidence for most applications. In contrast to radiation, the convective environment in large-scale solar power plants is much more difficult to characterize. Wind direction, wind speed, turbulence intensity, dust concentration, ground condition, panel configuration density, orientation and distribution throughout the solar field, all affect the local environment, the balance between radiation and convection,and in turn, the performance and thermal impact of solar power plants. Because the temperatures of the two sides of photovoltaic(PV) panels depend on detailed convection–radiation balances, the uncertainty associated with convection affects the heat and mass transfer balances as well. Those balances are critically important in estimating the thermal impact of large-scale solar farms on local habitats. Here we discuss outstanding issues related with these transfer processes for utility-scale solar generation and highlight potential pathways to gain useful knowledge about the convective environment directly from solar farms under operating conditions.

感潮河段是受到人类活动和潮汐水动力影响的典型河口区域,深刻理解其溶解有机质(DOM)来源组成的动态变化对于研究河口有机质的迁移转化和碳循环至关重要.本研究于2022年干季(5月)和湿季(10月)在大沽河下游感潮河段采集了不同潮周期的水体样品,进行了盐度、叶绿素、溶解有机碳及DOM的紫外-可见吸收光谱和三维荧光光谱分析.结果显示,湿季陆地径流大,初级生产力高,但DOM以陆地径流输入的芳香性化合物和类腐殖质为主,并且落潮期养殖废水的排放增加了近海站位类腐殖质的含量;干季陆地径流小初级生产力低,在人类污水排放的影响下大沽河感潮河段DOM不仅富含陆源类腐殖质也富集了大量的类蛋白,并且在落潮期含量高.主成分和相关性分析表明,陆地径流量和初级生产力是干湿两季DOM含量及组成差异的重要调控因素;并且在干季潮汐水动力通过调控淡水团和海水团的混合影响陆地径流惰性物质(芳香性化合物和类腐殖质)和活性类蛋白的输入和输出,增加陆源有机质在感潮河段的生物地球化学转化周期,从而改变向海输送的有机碳通量.这些结果认识为研究河口有机质的来源和迁移转化提供了数据支撑和参考依据.

The creation of carbonaceous nanoparticles and their dynamics in hydrocarbon flames are still debated in environmental,combustion,and material *** this study,we introduce single-pulse femtosecond laser sheetcompressed ultrafast photography(fsLS-CUP),an ultrafast imaging technique specifically designed to shed light on and capture ultrafast dynamics stemming from interactions between femtosecond lasers and nanoparticles in flames in a ***-CUP enables the first-time real-time billion frames-per-second(Gfps)simultaneous twodimensional(2D)imaging of laser-induced fluorescence(LIf)and laser-induced heating(LIH)that are originated from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and soot particles,***,fsLS-CUP provides the real-time spatiotemporal map of femtosecond laser-soot interaction as elastic light scattering(ELS)at an astonishing 250 *** contrast to existing single-shot ultrafast imaging approaches,which are limited to millions of frames per second only and require multiple laser pulses,our method employs only a single pulse and captures the entire dynamics of laserinduced signals at hundreds of *** a single pulse does not change the optical properties of nanoparticles for a following pulse,thus allowing reliable spatiotemporal ***,we found that particle inception and growth are derived from *** essence,as an imaging modality,fsLS-CUP offers ultrafast 2D diagnostics,contributing to the fundamental understanding of nanoparticle’s inception and broader applications across different fields,such as material science and biomedical engineering.
