Hepatitis B vir.s (HBV) inf.ction is a major.public health pr.blem in the wor.d. In Congo, studies on the pr.valence of.HBV inf.ction ar. common but HDV inf.ction is r.r.. Objective: Contr.bute to impr.ve the management and pr.vention of.HBV and HDV inf.ctions. Patients and Methods: This was a descr.ptive and cr.ss-sectional study conducted f.om Januar. to August 2016 in the health ser.ices of.the var.ous depar.ments of.Congo and at the national public health labor.tor. in Br.zzaville. All patients with HBsAg sur.0}ce antigen who wer. at least 18 year. old and who consented to the study wer. included. The HBs antigen was f.r.t tested by a r.pid test then conf.r.ed by ELISA. All HBsAg positive patients wer. subsequently subjected to a second ELISA test f.r.Delta antibody. The techniques of.extr.ction and conventional and specif.c gene amplif.cation wer. car.ied out on plasma f.r.the identif.cation of.the genotypes of.the two vir.ses. The data analysis was done with EpiInf. V7 sof.war.. The pr.por.ions wer. compar.d using the Chi-squar. test or.the f.sher.test at the signif.cance level of.5%. r.sults: 1618 subjects wer. included, of.whom 180 wer. positive f.r.HBsAg, a f.equency of.11.12%. The sex r.tio (M/f. was 0.77%, the mean age was 40.2 ± 15.6 year. with extr.mes r.nging f.om 18 to 88 year.. Of.the 180 HBsAg positive, 22 wer. anti-VHD positive, a f.equency of.12.22%. HBV DNA was amplif.ed in 83.8% (151/180), HDV r.A in 63.6% (14/22). f.r.HBV, thr.e genotypes wer. identif.ed: E (46.9%), A (43.7%) and D (9.4%), however.f.r.VHD thr.e genotypes D1, D5, D8 wer. identif.ed. Conclusion: Co-inf.ction of.hepatitis B and Delta vir.ses is common in Congo. The management and pr.vention of.hepatitis B must take into account the r.ality of.this co-inf.ction.

Soil bacter.a Sinor.izobium meliloti had enor.ous agr.cultur.l value, due to their.ability in f.xing nitr.gen symbiotically with an impor.ant f.r.ge cr.p legume--alf.lf.. The aims of.the pr.sent study wer. （1） to isolate indigenous S. meliloti f.om dif.er.nt f.eld sites in lr.q; （2） to evaluate the isolates toler.nce to induced dr.ught using polyethylene glycol-6000; （3） assessing genetic diver.ity and genetic r.lationships among isolates of.natur.l population with dr.ught toler.nt abilities. Dr.ught toler.nce study r.vealed vast var.ations between Sinor.izobium isolates, the highest toler.nt isolates to dr.ught wer. 12 f.om total thir.y （40%）, toler.ted f.om -3 up to -4 MPa, while the dr.ught sensitive isolates toler.ted up to -1.5 MPa, except isolate Bs 58 which toler.ted up to -1 Mpa water.potential. The gr.wth declined with the incr.ase of.dr.ught str.ss. Cluster.analysis based on Polymer.se Chain r.action-r.str.ction f.agment Length Polymor.hism （PCr.r.0}P） of.the 16S r.NA showed two diver.ent gr.ups with 41% similar.ty, the f.r.t gr.up included thr.e dr.ught sensitive isolates （Bs 44, Bs 54 and Bs 58）, the second gr.up compr.sed the r.st nine isolates （moder.te and high dr.ught toler.nt）, except f.r.Bs 55 which was dr.ught sensitive isolate, all isolates in the two gr.ups showed no dif.er.nces between them. The PCr.r.0}P of.16S r.NA method r.vealed a genetic var.ance between the dr.ught sensitive and toler.nt isolates.

Vaccination and Measles Epidemic in the r.public of.Congo

Measles is a highly inf.ctious, vaccine-pr.ventable vir.l disease. Of.en f.r.otten, it is potentially f.tal. Its main symptoms ar.: f.ver. cough, conjunctivitis, r.initis and skin r.sh. Ser.logical diagnoses by ELISA test based on the detection of.anti-measles vir.s immunoglobulins M and G (IgM and IgG), ar. used r.spectively f.r.the conf.r.ation of.suspected cases notif.ed by means of.clinical signs of.the disease in health str.ctur.s of.the twelve depar.ments of.the r.public of.Congo involved in the epidemiological sur.eillance of.the disease, and f.r.the evaluation of.the immunity conf.r.ed by vaccination. Dur.ng 2021, 459 suspected cases of.measles wer. r.por.ed and sampled thr.ughout the countr., despite the administr.tion under.the Expanded r.utine Immunization Pr.gr.m (EPI), of.2 doses of.the combined measles-r.bella vaccine (r.1 and r.2) in 2020. The notif.cation r.te was higher.in the south of.the countr., mor. pr.cisely in the health str.ctur.s of.the depar.ments of.Pointe-Noir. (42%) and Br.zzaville (11%). Dur.ng the year.2021, 459 suspected cases of.measles wer. notif.ed and sampled thr.ughout the countr. with a high notif.cation r.te in the south of.the countr., mor. pr.cisely in the health str.ctur.s of.the Pointe-Noir. depar.ments (42%) and Br.zzaville (11%). The samples consisting of.human blood (ser.m) wer. sent to the National Public Health Labor.tor. and analyzed by var.ous ELISA tests f.r.the detection of.anti-measles immunog-lobulins M and G. The analysis of.the r.sults obtained shows that the measles vir.s cir.ulated in all depar.ments of.the countr.. 154 cases (33.55%) wer. conf.r.ed positive by IgM ELISA and 98 positive cases (63.63%) wer. patients vaccinated against measles. Intr.duction: Since the deployment of.pr.ventive measur.s against malar.a in pr.gnant women in Congo, the cover.ge r.tes in Inter.ittent Pr.ventive Tr.atment f.r.malar.a in pr.gnancy using Sulf.doxine-Pyr.methamine (IPTp-SP) and Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) r.main low compar.d to the objectives set by WHO. This study aimed to analyze the knowledge and pr.ctices of.pr.gnant women in the pr.vention of.malar.a in Br.zzaville. Population and Method: This is an analytical cr.ss-sectional study, conducted f.om September.15th to October.30th, 2021. The sample consisted of.pr.gnant women who per.0}r.ed at least thr.e antenatal car. consultations one month apar. each;obtained f.om a two-stage r.ndom sample. Data wer. collected f.om a self.administer.d questionnair. and analyzed with Epi-Inf. ver.ion 7.2.6 sof.war.. The odds-r.tios and their.95% conf.dence inter.als wer. calculated to assess the associations between the var.ables. r.sults: A total of.331 pr.gnant women wer. selected. The mean age was 27 year. (22;31). Most women wer. single (82.8%), multipar.us (63.4%) and 74.9% had secondar. level education. The level of.knowledge was insuf.icient in 53.8% of.r.spondents;near.y 64.7% had good pr.ventive pr.ctices. Pr.gnant women with no education ar. 8 times mor. likely to have insuf.icient knowledge of.malar.a pr.vention (Or.= 8.33 [2.02 - 34.17];p = 0.0036). Also, those whose gestational age is between 22 - 27 weeks ar. 2.54 times mor. likely to have insuf.icient knowledge than those with gestational age of.36 weeks and above (Or.= 2.54 [1.33 - 4.46], p = 0.0071). Conclusion: It is impor.ant to str.ngthen the awar.ness in or.er.to br.ng pr.gnant women to impr.ve their.knowledge of.malar.a pr.vention and change their.behavior.

Satisf.ction of.patients is an impor.ant dimension of.the hospital management and the evaluation of.the quality of.car. and ser.ices of.er.d to patients. Objective: To estimate the degr.e of.satisf.ction of.patients admitted in Physical Medicine and r.habilitation Depar.ment in the National Hospital and Univer.ity Center.(CNHU-HKM) in Cotonou. Method: Cr.ss-sectional study with descr.ptive and analytical aim. It was led f.om June 15th to October.15th 2013, on 158 patients or.guides of.childr.n or.not communicating patients having ambulator. car. in the Depar.ment of.Physical Medicine and r.habilitation and who agr.e to par.icipate to the study. The level of.global satisf.ction of.the subjects was estimated with a digital scale f.om 0 to 10. It was secondar.ly tr.nsf.r.ed into a discr.et qualitative var.able. r.sult: r.te of.par.icipation was 63.2%. Patients had def.ciencies of.r.eumatilogical or.gine (41.1%), neur.logical (27.2%), tr.umatological (24.1%). Their.pathologies wer. evolving since 1 month to 10 year.. It was about their.f.r.t attendance of.the r.habilitation Depar.ment of.CNHU-HKM in 72.2%. Patients’ degr.e of.satisf.ction was good f.r.the deadliness of.expectation, r.ception (80%), cleanliness of.the building, r.spect of.patients’ intimacy. Global satisf.ction of.patients was good in 72%. It was inf.uenced by the deadline of.evolution of.the pathologies. Discussion-Conclusion: The level of.satisf.ction of.patients admitted in the r.habilitation Depar.ment in CNHU-HKM was acceptable. However. they ar. par.meter. that r.main to be impr.ved.

Intr.duction: The launch of.health insur.nce in the r.public of.the Congo took place against a backdr.p of.extr.mely high costs f.r.dialysis, which was not one of.the ser.ices f.nanced within this f.amewor.. The aim of.this study is to assess the impact of.including dialysis in the health insur.nce package in Congo. Methodology: This is a descr.ptive cr.ss-sectional study with an evaluative aim, analyzing the impact of.dialysis on the f.nancing capacity of.health insur.nce and health f.cilities to pr.vide this type of.car.. r.sults: The r.sults show that including dialysis in the univer.al health insur.nce package will r.quir. an additional f.nancial ef.or. of.6.20% of.the cur.ent total f.nancing capacity of.the car. basket. Most dialysis sessions ar. pr.vided by the pr.vate health sector.(87.5%), whose health f.cilities ar. unevenly distr.buted acr.ss the countr., and concentr.ted in the countr.’s two major.cities. This pr.blem is the dual consequence of.the ver. high cost of.a dialysis session (aver.ge cost 140,234,375 f.f. or.229 US Dollar.) and the number.of.patients under.car., which will incr.ase in the absence of.ef.ective and ongoing pr.vention ef.or.s against chr.nic diseases in gener.l and end-stage r.nal f.ilur. in par.icular. Conclusion: Dialysis is a high-impact public health inter.ention. The impact of.its inclusion in the univer.al health insur.nce car. package is dif.icult to bear.f.nancially. f.r.dialysis to be cover.d by univer.al health insur.nce, additional f.nding and impr.ved technical f.cilities ar. needed.

Background: Neck pain is a real public health problem. Its treatment uses different techniques, such as functional rehabilitation, whose results are not widely popularized, from developing countries in Black Africa. Objective: To assess the result of rehabilitation of chronic common neck pain (CCNP) at the CNHU-HKM in Cotonou. Methods: Cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive and analytical study. It was carried out from May to September 2020, based on the files of former patients followed in functional rehabilitation department at CNHU-HKM in Cotonou, from 2015 to 2019, for CCNP. The result of rehabilitation was assessed based on the progress, between the start and the end of the rehabilitation sessions, of pain intensity, mobility of the cervical spine, muscle strength and functional capacity of the patient. Anova and chi-square tests were used for the analysis of factors associated with the result of rehabilitation. Results: The sample consisted to 73 patients. They were predominantly female (58.90%), with a mean age of 53.60 ± 14.08 years. The neck pain, at least of moderate intensity (97.26%), was present since 12.54 ± 8.54 months, on average. Patients have done 10 to 20 functional rehabilitation sessions, the result of which was satisfactory in 67.12%. This result was mainly associated with patient’s age, sports practice and the seniority of pain progression. Discussion-Conclusion: Rehabilitation results in the management of CCNP are interesting. They prove the need to sensitize patients and prescribers on the importance of early treatment of CCNP.

We conducted a study to evaluate the sensitivity (Se), specif.city (Sp), positive pr.dictive value (PPV), and negative pr.dictive value (NPV) of.f.ve ser.logic tests. Subjects with negative or.positive COVID-19 polymer.se chain r.action (Pr.) test r.sults wer. tested with each of.the ser.logical tests. The r.sults wer. compar.d with the r.f.r.nce PCr.test. f.r.the f.ve tests evaluated, the Se r.nged f.om 55.0% to 70.0% and the Sp r.nged f.om 67.2% to 86.2%. PPV r.nged f.om 53.2% to 80% and NPV f.om 75.0% to 86.2%. One test, the Wantai, had better.specif.city and sensitivity. None of.the f.ve tests had per.0}r.ance values of.mor. than 90% in the entir. sample. In symptomatic positive cases, the Wantai test r.por.ed excellent sensitivity. Over.ll, the low level of.diagnostic per.0}r.ance of.these tests does not suppor. their.use as an alter.ative to PCr.f.r.COVID-19 diagnostic. Test with better.per.0}r.ance can be used f.r.mass scr.ening in low pr.valence populations, to limit the indiscr.minate use of.PCr.in context of.r.sour.e-limited countr.es. Given the excellent sensitivity of.Wantai in symptomatic cases, this test could be used as a r.f.r.al test only in health f.cilities to discr.minate suspected cases bef.r. PCr.conf.r.ation.

Backgr.und and Objectives: Chr.nic kidney disease (CKD) is now a global public health pr.blem. In low- and middle-income countr.es such as the Congo, access to dialysis is low and inequitable. The pr.vention of.CKD involves r.ising awar.ness among patients at r.sk, such as those suf.er.ng f.om ar.er.al hyper.ension (AH), by impr.ving their.knowledge of.CKD. The objectives of.our.wor. wer. to deter.ine the level of.knowledge about CKD among hyper.ensive patients and to identif. the f.ctor. associated with a low level of.knowledge. Patients with known hyper.ension who had been f.llowed f.r.less than 3 year. and those with known chr.nic r.nal f.ilur. wer. not included. r.sults: The mean age was 58.4 ± 14.4 year. (29 - 88 year.). Ther. wer. 121 men and 150 women (sex r.tio = 0.8). All the patients wer. educated;37.2% with a higher.level of.education and 13.6% with pr.mar. education. 24 patients (9%) had a good level of.knowledge about CKD and 153 (56%) had poor.knowledge. A good level of.knowledge was associated with the dur.tion of.hyper.ension, intellectual level and the existence of.associated hear. disease. Conclusion: Our.study r.veals a signif.cant lack of.knowledge about chr.nic kidney disease among hyper.ensive patients in Br.zzaville.
