Bio-f.rtilizer Improved Oil Palm Seedling Growth

In most f.rming systems newly introduced commercial f.rtilizers to be accepted, adopted and used by f.rmers, their ef.ectiveness and appropriate application rates must be exhibited. This study was conducted to validate the ef.ect and rates of.a bio-f.rtilizer (super agric) on oil palm seedling growth. The trial was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three application rates of.0, 4 and 8 ml/L of.water (treatments) replicated thrice. f.llowing the application of.super agric to oil palm seedlings f.r a period of.six months, observations drawn f.om the analysis of.growth data were as f.llows: Three months af.er treatment, super agric signif.cantly (P f.oil palm seedling compared to those which were not applied with super agric. The results also showed that when super agric was applied at a rate of.4 ml/L, the leaf.length and breadth were higher compared to the control were super agric was not used. f.rthermore, applications of.super agric improved oil palm seedling nitrogen uptake by 31% in treatment groups as compared to the control which explained the height and breadth increase in the oil palm seedlings that were applied with super agric. On the other hand, the ef.ect of.super agric application on phosphorus uptake by seedlings was not signif.cant. Although the height, breadth, leaf.width and length were all signif.cantly af.ected by super agric application, the number of.oil palm leaves and spears were not af.ected f.r the period the experiment was conducted. Six months af.er application of.super agric the growth of.oil palm seedlings was f.vorably impacted, hence we recommend super agric to be promoted among oil palm seedling growers.

A Rare Case of.Aortic Valve Endocarditis and Acute Meningitis Due to Haemophilus inf.uenzae

HACEK organisms represent a rare but important group of.causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, modern laboratory techniques have made this less common. In this case, we present a 74-year-old man who presented with acute onset altered mentation, f.ver, and sepsis. He was ultimately f.und to have Haemophilus inf.uenzae meningitis, cerebral empyema, aortic valve endocarditis, psoas myositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteomyelitis. Although HACEK organisms are commonly f.und in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in humans, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. H. inf.uenzae is responsible f.r approximately 0.16% of.all cases of.bacterial endocarditis, representing a very limited subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case demonstrates the unusual extent of.inf.ction f.om a HACEK organism, H. inf.uenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute meningitis.

The Monte Desert is characterized by a great diversity of.landf.rms created with f.uvial， alluvial which the vegetation patterns are related to. The present work has the f.llowing objectives: 1: determine whether topographical attributes， surf.ce characteristics， soil properties and vegetation patterns vary between alluvial landf.rms， and 2: def.ne whether morphometric， soil and surf.ce properties inf.uence vegetation patterns along alluvial landscape. Morphometric data were obtained by processing a 5 m digital elevation model. The coverage of.rock f.agments， f.ne sediments and mulch was quantif.ed. Observations and descriptions of.the soil prof.les were restricted to the uppermost 50 cm. Vegetation properties were calculated using a Point Quadrat Method. The relationship between variables was evaluated through multivariate statistical analysis. The main results show the presence of.45 plant species distributed in 19 f.milies， where shrubs are dominant. The wind ef.ect， topographic wetness and dissection of.the landscape are limiting f.ctors of.diversity. The coverage of.superf.cial rock f.agments inf.uence vegetation coverage through the distribution and availability of.rainwater. f.rthermore， the dif.erent soil textures reveal that the silt content f.vors an increase in vegetation coverage. The presence of.V horizon could condition the installation and development of.vegetation in the early stages of.growth.

Python Server Page Perf.rmance Analysis and Modeling

Today, in the f.0}d of.computer networks, new services have been developed on the Internet or intranets, including the mail server, database management, sounds, videos and the web server itself.Apache. The number of.solutions f.r this server is theref.re growing continuously, these services are becoming more and more complex and expensive, without being able to f.lf.ll the needs of.the users. The absence of.benchmarks f.r websites with dynamic content is the major obstacle to research in this area. These users place high demands on the speed of.access to inf.rmation on the Internet. This is why the perf.rmance of.the web server is critically important. Several f.ctors inf.uence perf.rmance, such as server execution speed, network saturation on the internet or intranet, increased response time, and throughputs. By measuring these f.ctors, we propose a perf.rmance evaluation strategy f.r servers that allows us to determine the actual perf.rmance of.dif.erent servers in terms of.user satisf.ction. f.rthermore, we identif.ed perf.rmance characteristics such as throughput, resource utilization, and response time of.a system through measurement and modeling by simulation. f.nally, we present a simple queue model of.an Apache web server, which reasonably represents the behavior of.a saturated web server using the Simulink model in Matlab (Matrix Laboratory) and also incorporates sporadic incoming traf.ic. We obtain server perf.rmance metrics such as average response time and throughput through simulations. Compared to other models, our model is conceptually straightf.rward. The model has been validated through measurements and simulations during the tests that we conducted.

Petiveria alliacea Suppresses Airway Inf.ammation and Allergen-Specif.c Th2 Responses in Ovalbumin-Sensitized Murine Model of.Asthma

Objective： To examine the ef.ect of.metanol extract of.Petiveria alliacea （PM） on airway inf.ammation in a murine model of.chronic asthma. Methods： Two-month-old male BALB/c mice （n=6-8/group） were sensitized on days 0 and 14 by intraperitoneal injection of.20μg ovalbumin （OVA）. On day 25, the mice received an airway challenge with OVA （3%, w/v, in phosphate buf.ered saline）. PM was administered orally by oral gavage to mice at doses of.100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight once daily f.om days 18 to 23. Control mice were orally administered phosphate buf.ered saline （PBS） to induce a model of.asthma. At the end of.the test, respiratory reactivity was assayed, the total cell number, interleukin-4 （IL-4）, IL-5, IL-13, tumor necrosis f.ctor-alpha （TNf.α） and reactive oxygen species （ROS） in the bronchoalveolar lavage f.uid （BALf. were determined and the levels of.serum IgE, intercellular cell adhesion molecule 1 （ICAM-1） and eotoxin were measured. In addition, lung tissue was used to qualif. the IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, TNf.α and transf.rming growth f.ctor beta 1 （TGf.β1）. Histologic examination was perf.rmed to observe inf.ammatory cellular inf.ltration. Results： The administration of.PM in comparison with the OVA-only treated group signif.cantly attenuated the inf.ltration of.eosinophUs and other inf.ammatory cells （P〈0.01）. Airway resistance （RI） in the OVA-only induced group was signif.cantly higher than that of.the PBS control group （P〈0.01） when methacholine was added. TNf.α, IgE, TGf.β1 and cytokine levels IL-4, IL-5, IL-β in the BALf.decreased compared to control mice （P〈0.01 or P〈0.05）. PM treatment also inhibited the production of.chemokines, eotaxin and ICAM-1 in BALf.（P〈0.01）, which improved lung f.nction. Histopathological examination revealed that the sensitized treated PM groups had signif.cant lower in inf.ammatory scores similar to dexamethasone treatments and the untreated group. Endoplasmic reticulum stress,autophagy,neuroinf.ammation,and sigma 1 receptors as contributors to depression and its treatment

The etiological f.ctors contributing to depression and other neuropsychiatric disorders are largely undef.ned. Endoplasmic reticulum stress pathways and autophagy are well-def.ned mechanisms that play critical f.nctions in recognizing and resolving cellular stress and are possible targets f.r the pathophysiology and treatment of.psychiatric and neurologic illnesses. An increasing number of.studies indicate the involvement of.endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy in the control of.neuroinf.ammation, a contributing f.ctor to multiple neuropsychiatric illnesses. Initial inf.ammatory triggers induce endoplasmic reticulum stress, leading to neuroinf.ammatory responses. Subsequently, induction of.autophagy by neurosteroids and other signaling pathways that converge on autophagy induction are thought to participate in resolving neuroinf.ammation. The aim of.this review is to summarize our current understanding of.the molecular mechanisms governing the induction of.endoplasmic reticulum stress, autophagy, and neuroinf.ammation in the central nervous system. Studies f.cused on innate immune f.ctors, including neurosteroids with anti-inf.ammatory roles will be reviewed. In the context of.depression, animal models that led to our current understanding of.molecular mechanisms underlying depression will be highlighted, including the roles of.sigma 1 receptors and pharmacological agents that dampen endoplasmic reticulum stress and associated neuroinf.ammation.

Item-Level Analysis of.the Revised Occupational Therapy f.0}dwork Perf.rmance Evaluation Applied in Practice

Competency-based assessments f.r healthcare prof.ssionals are critical f.r saf. and ef.ective client outcomes. Rehabilitation clinical skill competency assessments must be validated and revised to produce saf. and skilled practitioners. The revised American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) f.0}dwork Perf.rmance Evaluation (f.PE) instrument measures occupational therapy student perf.rmance to determine readiness f.r practice. The assessment includes thirty-seven competencies that address both prof.ssion specif.c clinical skills and general prof.ssional behavior skills. The objective of.this study was to use Rasch methods to explore the use of.the revised f.PE in actual f.0}dwork practice and to determine the instrument’s psychometric properties when separating the item components into two distinct subdomains: General Health Prof.ssions Competences and Occupational Therapy-Specif.c Competencies. Internal construct validity and test reliability were analyzed using data f.om 149 occupational therapy students af.er completing their initial Level II A f.0}dwork clinical internship. This study examined the item dif.iculty hierarchy, item f.t, person-f.t to model, person separation index, person separation reliability coef.icient, strata, ceiling and f.oor ef.ect, and unidimensionality of.the f.PE instrument as a whole and as two separate domains. With the exception of.not meeting the criteria f.r unidimensionality, the f.ll f.PE instrument and the Occupational Therapy-Specif.c Competencies subdomain showed acceptable item-level psychometrics f.r reliability and precision. While the General Health Prof.ssions Competencies subdomain showed good item-level psychometrics, it was below the criterion f.r reliability and only separated the sample into two strata. Results support the validity, reliability, and clinical use of.the revised f.PE f.ll instrument and the Occupational Therapy-Specif.c Competencies subdomain to measure entry-level clinical skill competencies in pr
