Conversion-reaction induced charge storage mechanisms of transition metal sulphides have received considerable interest in designing high-capacity electrodes for electrochemical energy storage ***,their low conductivity and structural degradation during cycling limit their applications as energy storage devices.A combination of different nickel sulphide phases tailored with carbon nanostructures is suggested to address these ***,a facile,two-step approach is demonstrated for fabricating a hybrid electrode,consisting of trinickel disulphide(Ni_(3)S_(2))formed on a metallic Ni nanoparticle supported by vertical carbon nanotubes(VCN)backbone in the form Ni_(3)S_(2)/Ni@***_(3)S_(2)/Ni@VCN electrodes were tested as anode for lithium-ion batteries,and the electrode featured outstanding lithiumstorage capabilities with a high reversible capacity(1113 m Ah g^(-1) after 100 cycles at 100 m A g^(-1)),excellent long-term cycling stability(770 m Ah g^(-1) after 500 cycles at 200 m A g^(-1)),and good rate *** resulting electrode performance is one of the best Li-ion storage capabilities in the Ni_(3)S_(2)-type anode materials described.A unique “broccoli-like”structure of polycrystalline Ni_(3)S_(2)capped on conductive VCN backbone helps the interface storage process and boosts lithium storage performance.

A laboratory-scale trickling biofilter column, filled with Raschig rings and inoculated with Pseudomonas putida （ATCC 1785） was used to ＇purify chlorobenzene contained waste gases. Sodium dodecyl sulfonate （SDS） was used to enhance the performance of trickling biofilter. Purification performance of the trickling biofilter was examined for chiorobenzene inlet concentration of 1.20,-5.04 g/m^3 at different EBRTs between 76N153 s. Without SDS addition, with simultaneous increase in chlorobenzene inlet loading rate and gas flow rate, 100% removal efficiency was achieved at EBRT of 109 s and inlet loadings below 5120 mg/m^3. Addition of SDS to nutrient solution led to improvement of trickling biofilter purification performance. By introducing 25 mg/L SDS, the removal efficiency was increased by 21% and elimination capacity up to 234 g/（m^3.h） was achieved at chlorobenzene inlet loading of 241 g/（m^3.h）. Although SDS concentration experienced a low rate reduction after continuous nutrient solution recirculation, this result has period little influence on trickling biofilter＇s removal efficiency in monitoring period.

While periodontal (PD) disease is among principal causes of tooth loss worldwide, regulation of concomitant soft and mineralized PD tissues, and PD pathogenesis have not been completely clarified yet. Besides, relevant pre-clinical models and in vitro platforms have limitations in simulating human physiology. Here, we have harnessed three-dimensional bioprinting (3DBP) technology for developing a multi-cellular microtissue model resembling PD ligament-alveolar bone (PDL-AB) biointerface for the first time. 3DBP parameters were optimized;the physical, chemical, rheological, mechanical, and thermal properties of the constructs were assessed. Constructs containing gelatin methacryloyl (Gel-MA) and hydroxyapatite-magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles showed higher level of compressive strength when compared with that of Gel-MA constructs. Bioprinted self-supporting microtissue was cultured under flow in a microfluidic platform for >10 days without significant loss of shape fidelity. Confocal microscopy analysis indicated that encapsulated cells were homogenously distributed inside the matrix and preserved their viability for >7 days under microfluidic conditions. Immunofluorescence analysis showed the cohesion of stromal cell surface marker-1+ human PDL fibroblasts containing PDL layer with the osteocalcin+ human osteoblasts containing mineralized layer in time, demonstrating some permeability of the printed constructs to cell migration. Preliminary tetracycline interaction study indicated the uptake of model drug by the cells inside the 3D-microtissue. Also, the non-toxic levels of tetracycline were determined for the encapsulated cells. Thus, the effects of tetracyclines on PDL-AB have clinical significance for treating PD diseases. This 3D-bioprinted multi-cellular periodontal/osteoblastic microtissue model has potential as an in vitro platform for studying processes of the human PDL.

BACKGROUND:Primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC)is a chronic cholestatic liver disease characterized by destruction and fibrosis of the bile *** study aimed to demonstrate the hepatic and extrahepatic characteristic findings and prognostic outcomes of Turkish patients with PSC. METHODS:The medical records of 35 consecutive patients with PSC from January 1988 to June 2007 were recorded *** the time of diagnosis,clinical features and laboratory data were collected. RESULTS:The mean age of the 35 patients was 41.69 years (range 15-80 years)at the time of diagnosis;14(40%)were female,and 21(60%)were *** mean duration of follow-up was 58.86 months(1-180 months).Twenty(57.1%) of the patients with PSC were asymptomatic and 22(62.9%) had inflammatory bowel *** the time of diagnosis, 20(57.1%)of the patients had both intra-and extra-hepatic ***-one(60%)of the patients,who had undergone ERCP for stent placement,had dominant bile duct stenosis. Cholangiocarcinoma was found in 2(5.7%)of the patients and cirrhosis was detected in 7(20%);5(14.3%)underwent liver *** median follow-up time after liver transplantation was 23 months and all are still *** (17.1%)patients died. CONCLUSIONS:PSC has a clinical course varied from advanced liver disease requiring liver transplantation within a short time to being asymptomatic for decades. The prognosis of Turkish patients with PSC is also disappointing as described in other studies.

Taking into Account Density fluctuations in a Solvent in a Model of Dissolution

Earlier it was shown by different authors that there are cavities (vacancies, holes) in any liquid. The cavities should play a prominent role in dissolution processes. Nevertheless this fact was ignored in previous model of dissolution. The sizes of the cavities in different solvents containing benzene molecules were determined using solvent induced spectral shift method. The measurements of S1←S0 benzene transition spectral shifts permit to conclude that 1) macroscopic excess volumes play an almost negligible role in processes of benzene dissolution in very different solvents and 2) the minimal size of the cavity in water able to accommodate benzene molecule coincides with the solute size. Generalization of this conclusion to other nonpolar aromatics leads to evaluation contraction of the solutes under aqueous solvent influence permits to predict the solubility values of other aromatics in water and to evaluate effect of enhancement hydrate cell around these molecules on solubility.

The electrocaloric effect(ECE)is studied in(Pb_(0.8)Ba_(0.2))[(Zn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))_(0.7)Ti_(0.3)]O_(3) relaxor ferroelectric ceramic by using an“indirect method”.The electric dependence for the polarization(hysteresis loops)has been obtained for several temperatures showing typical relaxor *** temperature change△T,which is associated with the ECE,is calculated by using the temperature dependence for the polarization.A maximum value for△T is observed for temperatures close above the freezing temperature,showing an indirect evidence of that critical *** results are discussed considering the contribution of the polar nanoregions to the polarization.
