With additional functions of osteocytes being identified, the concept that osteocytes are just ＂static lacunar-dwelling cells＂ is no longer accepted. We reviewed most of the relevant literature on osteocyte＇s function in the direct remodeling of the perilucunar matrix, discussing the advantages and disadvantages. Special attention was paid to how the negative researchers argue about the ＂osteocytic osteolysis＂ principle, and how the positive side addressed the arguments. We also discussed the newly found data of osteocytic remodeling function from our group. With more biotechnology in hand, there is increased excitement in the prospect of now being able to answer the two important questions： do osteocytes have the capability to remove mineral from the perilacunar matrix and if so what are the molecular and cellular mechanisms？ do osteocytes have the capability to deposit new mineral on the perilacunar matrix and if so what are the cellular and molecular mechanisms？

Tunnel junctions, Ta (5 nm)/Ni79/fe21 (3 nm)/Cu (20 nm)/Ni79/fe21 (3 nm)/Ir22/Mn78 (10 nm)/Co75/fe25/ (4 nm)/Ni79/fe21 (4 nm)/Ni79/fe21/(20 nm)/Ta (5 nm) wherein d=1.3 and 0.8 nm, with small active area from 100×100 down to 3×3 μm2 were fabricated using a micro-fabrication technique. The optical lithography combined with ar ion-beam etching and Cf4 active etching was used to pattern the junction area. A thin barrier layer and a short plasma-oxidation time for Al-oxide layer were used in order to reduce the junction resistance and increase the TMR ratio. The optimum annealing temperature and time for the highest TMR obtained were investigated to be around 300°C for an hour in this work. TMR ratio, effective barrier height and width, and breakdown voltage of the junctions can be remarkably enhanced upon annealing. High TMR ratio of 49.7% at room temperature and 69.1% at 4.2 K were achieved. TMR ratio and resistances decrease with increasing dc bias voltage from 0 to 1000 mV or with increasing temperature from 4.2 K to room temperature.

Background Absenteeism amongst pre-school children is often due to illnesses such as hand,foot,and mouth disease,acute gastroenteritis,cold and flu,which are easily spread amongst *** is because of weak immunity and lack of knowledge on proper hand *** quasi-experimental study assessed the efficacy of an intervention consisting of a hand hygiene education programme,along with digital tools in bringing about a change in behaviour and health conditions amongst pre-school children in Klang Valley,*** A total of 377 school children,male and female,aged 5–6 years old,participated and were assigned to either the intervention or a control *** the 2 months intervention period,children in the test group were trained on proper hand hygiene practices and techniques with the aid of the interactive android-based *** numbers of absent days of all the children were recorded for 2 months before the intervention and during the *** In the test group,there was a 25%increase in the total number of absent days from the pre-intervention period to the intervention period,a much lesser increment observed as compared to that of control group in which the increase was much higher at 89%.Results showed a significant difference(Pfor the test and control group during the intervention *** These results suggest that proper education and intervention increase hand hygiene compliance,which may help decrease school absenteeism due to illness;however,a longer study duration may be necessary to evaluate the benefit further.

Effects of using nanoliquid and double porous elliptic objects on the flow separation and convective heat transfer control for flow over multiple heated blocks in channel are numerically investigated by using finite element ***,brick,blade and cylindrical shaped alumina particles are used in water up to solid volume fraction of 2%.Impacts of Reynolds number(50≤Re≤500),permeability of the porous ellipses(10^(-5)≤D_(a1)≤5×10^(-2) and 10^(-5)≤D_(a2)≤5×10^(-2)),aspect ratio of the ellipses(0.25≤ar_(1)≤1.5,0.25≤ar_(2)≤1.5),distance between the ellipses(0.2H≤sx≤1.6H)and distance of the first ellipse from inlet(-H≤mx≤H)on the hydro-thermal performance are *** highest performance improvement is obtained by using the cylindrical shaped particles in the base heat transfer fluid at the highest solid volume fraction and the amount of heat transfer enhancement are 33%and 40.5%for hot blocks while negligible pressure drop is *** the aspect ratio of the ellipses in the perpendicular direction to the flow,up to 25%and 30%heat transfer increment are obtained for hot block with slight rise of pressure ***,when varying the horizontal location of the porous ellipses in the channel and permeability of them,there is considerable rise of pressure *** of the average heat transfer from the hot blocks with varying permeability of the ellipses are obtained as 32%and 25%.Successful hydro-thermal performance estimation results are achieved by using artificial neural networks with feed-forward network architecture of 1 hidden layer and 17 neurons.

Lithium niobate on insulator(LNOI)has become an intriguing platform for integrated photonics for applications in communications,microwave photonics,and ***,integrated devices including modulators,resonators,and lasers with high performance have been recently realized on the LNOI platform,high-speed photodetectors,an essential building block in photonic integrated circuits,have not been demonstrated on LNOI ***,we demonstrate for the first time,heterogeneously integrated modified uni-traveling carrier photodiodes on LNOI with a record-high bandwidth of 80 GHz and a responsivity of 0.6 A/W at a 1550-nm *** photodiodes are based on an n-down In GaAs/InP epitaxial layer structure that was optimized for high carrier transit time-limited *** integration was achieved using a scalable wafer die bonding approach that is fully compatible with the LNOI platform.

In a short time, many illustrative studies have been conducted on the mathematical modeling and analysis of COVID-19. There are not enough studies taking into account the vaccine campaign among these studies. In this context, a mathematical model is developed to reveal the effects of vaccine treatment, which has been performed recently, on COVID-19 in this study. In the proposed model, as well as the vaccinated individuals, a five-dimensional compartment system including the susceptible, infected, exposed and recovered population is constructed. Moreover, besides the positivity, existence and uniqueness of the solution, biologically feasible region are provided. The basic reproduction number known as expected secondary infection which means that expected infection among the susceptible populations caused by this infection is evaluated. In the numerical simulations, the parameter values taken from the literature and estimated are used to perform the solutions of the proposed model. Fourth-order Runge-Kutta numerical scheme is applied to obtain the results.

AIM: To identify the prevalence of pre-S2 start codon mutations and to assess their association with liver disease progression. METHODS: The mutations were identified by direct sequencing from 73 asymptomatic carriers, 66 chronic hepatitis (CH), 66 liver cirrhosis (LC) and 63 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Statistical significances were determined using fisher's exact test, χ 2 test, and t -test analyses whenever appropriate. Pre-S mutation as a risk factor for advanced liver disease was estimated by unconditional logistic regression model adjusted with age, sex, and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). P ficant. RESULTS: Mutation of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) pre-S2 start codon was found in 59 samples from 268 subjects (22.0%), with higher prevalence in patients with cirrhosis 27/66 (40.9%) followed by HCC 18/63 (28.6%), chronic hepatitis 12/66 (18.2%) and asymptomatic carriers 2/73 (2.7%) (P art codon mutation was an independent factor for progressive liver disease. Other mutations, at T130, Q132, and A138, were also associated with LC and HCC, although this was not statistically significant when adjusted for age, sex, and HBeAg. The prevalence of pre-S2 start codon mutation was higher in HBV/B than in HBV/C (23.0% vs 19.1%), whilst the prevalence of T130, Q132, and A138 mutation was higher in HBV/C than in HBV/B. The prevalence of pre-S2 start codon mutation was higher in LC (38.9%) and HCC (40.0%) than CH (5.6%) in HBeAg(+) group, but it was similar between CH, LC and HCC in HBeAg(-) group. CONCLUSION: Pre-S2 start codon mutation was higher in Indonesian patients compared to other Asian countries, and its prevalence was associated with advanced liver disease, particularly in HBeAg(+) patients.
