Sociodemographic Characteristics Related to Resistance to Breast Cancer Screening

Objective: To describe the sociodemographic characteristics of women related to resistance to breast cancer. Methods: Cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, whose research took place in the Basic family Health Units of the municipality of Mossoró. The study included 362 women aged between 40 and 69 years. One used a validated questionnaire with questions divided into five blocks. The data were entered in a spreadsheet, transferred to the SPSS software, and subsequently coded to perform the analysis. The Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte, in Opinion No. 356958, approved the project. Results: Black women were two times more likely to be resistant when compared to white women (OR = 2.01, 95% CI = 1.12 - 3.69;p = 0.018). Women who have studied up to primary school 122 (58.1%) were two times more likely to be resistant when compared to those 14 (6.7%) who studied up to higher education (OR = 2.69;95% CI = 1.31 - 5.48;p = 0.012). Women who had first-degree relatives with breast cancer 153 (72.9%) were three times more likely to be resistant. Conclusions: The findings show the need for investments in educational practices with a view to public awareness and professionals’ training to disseminate information regarding tests used in practice directed to women’s health.

Impact of Laboratory Value flowsheet in Electronic Health Record (EHR) Documentation Time

Research on the use of EHR is contradictory since it presents contradicting results regarding the time spent documenting. There is research that supports the use of electronic records as a tool to speed documentation;and research that found that it is time consuming. The purpose of this quantitative retrospective before-after project was to measure the impact of using the laboratory value flowsheet within the EHR on documentation time. The research question was: “Does the use of a laboratory value flowsheet in the EHR impact documentation time by primary care providers (PCPs)?” The theoretical framework utilized in this project was the Donabedian Model. The population in this research was the two PCPs in a small primary care clinic in the northwest of Puerto Rico. The sample was composed of all the encounters during the months of October 2019 and December 2019. The data was obtained through data mining and analyzed using SPSS 27. The evaluative outcome of this project is that there is a decrease in documentation time after implementation of the use of the laboratory value flowsheet in the EHR. However, patients per day increase therefore having an impact on the number of patients seen per day/week/month. The implications for clinical practice include the use of templates to improve workflow and documentation as well as decreasing documentation time while also increasing the number of patients seen per day. .

BACKGROUND A previous study compared vortexing and Maki techniques for the diagnosis of catheter-related bloodstream infection(CRBSI),and concluded that vortexing was not superior to Maki *** To determine whether the combined use of vortexing and Maki techniques provides profitability versus the Maki technique for the diagnosis of catheter tip colonization(CTC)and *** Observational and prospective study carried out in an Intensive Care *** with suspected catheter-related infection(CRI)and with one central venous catheter for at least 7 days were *** area under the curve(AUC)of the Maki technique,the vortexing technique and the combination of both techniques for the diagnosis of CTC and CRBSI were *** We included 136 episodes of suspected *** found 21 cases of CTC of which 10 were also CRBSI *** the 21 CTC episodes,18(85.7%)were diagnosed by Maki technique and vortexing technique,3(14.3%)only by the technique of Maki,and none only by technique of *** the 10 CRBSI episodes,9(90.0%)were diagnosed by the techniques of Maki and vortexing,1(10.0%)was diagnosed only by the technique of Maki,and none only by the technique of *** no found differences in the comparison of AUC between the technique of Maki and the combination of Maki and vortexing techniques for the diagnosis of CTC(P=0.99)and CRBSI(P=0.99).CONCLUSION The novel finding of our study was that the combined use of vortexing and Maki techniques did not provide profitability to the technique of Maki alone to CRBSI diagnosis of.

This work explores the potential of a triple combination of meropenem(MEM),a novel metallo-blactamase(MBL)inhibitor(indole-2-carboxylate 58(InC58)),and a serine-b-lactamase(SBL)inhibitor(avibactam(AVI))for broad-spectrum activity against carbapenemase-producing bacteria.A diverse panel comprising MBL-and SBL-producing strains was used for susceptibility testing of the triple combination using the agar dilution *** frequency of resistance(foR)to MEM combined with InC58 was *** were sequenced and tested for cross resistance,fitness,and the stability of the resistance *** with the double combinations of MEM plus an SBL or MBL inhibitor,the triple combination extended the spectrum of activity to most of the isolates bearing SBLs(oxacillinase-48(OXA-48)and Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-2(KPC-2))and MBLs(New Delhi metallo-blactamases(NDMs)),although it was not effective against Verona integron-encoded metallo-blactamase(VIM)-carrying Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***)and OXA-23-carrying Acinetobacter baumannii(***).The foR to MEM plus InC58 ranged from 2.22×10^(-7)to 1.13×10^(-6).The resistance correlated with mutations to ompC and comR,affecting porin C and copper permeability,*** mutants manifested a fitness cost,a decreased level of resistance during passage without antibiotic pressure,and cross resistance to another carbapenem(imipenem)and a b-lactamase inhibitor(taniborbactam).In conclusion,compared with the dual combinations,the triple combination of MEM with InC58 and AVI showed a much wider spectrum of activity against different carbapenemaseproducing bacteria,revealing a new strategy to combat b-lactamase-mediated antimicrobial resistance.

Drivers and barriers to energy-efficient technologies(EETs)in EU residential buildings

To achieve carbon targets,the European Union(EU)aims to promote nearly zero-energy buildings(nZEB).To enable the necessary transition,technical solutions need to converge with socio-economic factors,such values and awareness of stakeholders involved in the decision-making *** this light,the aim of this paper is to characterise perceived drivers and barriers to nine energy-efficient technologies(EET),according to key decision-makers’and persuaders of the technology selection in the EU residential building *** are collected across eight EU countries,***(BE),Germany(DE),Spain(ES),france(fR),Italy(IT),Netherlands(NL),Poland(PL),and United Kingdom(UK).The stakeholders’selected are architects,construction companies,engineers,installers and demand-side *** from a multi-country survey is analysed to calculate the share of 15 drivers and 21 barriers(aggregated to 5 groups),being selected for each EET and *** 5 groups considered to analyse drivers and barriers are environmental,technical,economic,social,*** perceived barriers and drivers were further studied for their association across the countries using the Pearson’s Chi2 and a Cramer’s V *** results demonstrate that across all EETs and countries,the technical and economic driver groups are perceived to have the highest potential to increase the implementation rate of *** terms of barriers,economic aspects are seen as the foremost reason that EET are not scaling *** both drivers and barriers legal aspects are the least often *** overall the barrier groups show significant variation across countries compared to driver *** findings provide an evidence-basis to better understand arguments in favour and against specific EETs and,in this way,support policy makers and other interested parties to increase the market share of the selected solutions.

Agriculture is facing a massive increase in demand per hectare as a result of an ever-expanding population and environmental *** we have learned much about how environmental conditions and diseases impact crop yield,until recently considerably less was known concerning endogenous factors,including within-plant nutrient *** this review,we discuss studies of source-sink interactions covering both fundamental research in model systems under controlled growth conditions and how the findings are being translated to crop plants in the *** this respect we detail efforts aimed at improving and/or combining C3,C4,and CAM modes of photosynthesis,altering the chloroplastic electron transport chain,modulating photorespiration,adopting bacterial/algal carbon-concentrating mechanisms,and enhancing nitrogen-and water-use ***,we discuss how modulating TCA cycle activities and primary metabolism can result in increased rates of photosynthesis and outline the opportunities that evaluating natural variation in photosynthesis may *** source,transport,and sink functions are all covered in this review,we focus on discussing source functions because the majority of research has been conducted in this ***,considerable recent evidence,alongside the evidence from classical studies,demonstrates that both transport and sink functions are also incredibly important determinants of *** thus describe recent evidence supporting this notion and suggest that future strategies for yield improvement should focus on combining improvements in each of these steps to approach yield optimization.

This research explores the subject of territory,understood based on the life world of Andean inhabitants of the Colca Valley(Arequipa,Peru),who are descendants of ancient local Indigenous groups that,since prehistoric times,have known how to adapt to the rugged geographical reality of the *** a phenomenological approach,which assesses the subjective experience,it was possible to corroborate the existence of routine patterns of spatiality that preserve the emotional essence of past territorial conceptions,which have prevailed despite the hegemonic impositions systematically forced upon the land ever since the Spanish conquest in the 16th *** carrying out coexistence fieldwork in situ,five layers of territorial sense have been registered,which,besides being very useful in order to optimize and give coherence to their agricultural and animal husbandry tasks,are periodically represented through verbal and corporal narratives,which have been mapped in this work in order to make their dynamics of symbolization visible and to conclude in the existence of an emotional Andean territory.

Background Current diagnostic criteria for hypoxic–ischemic encephalopathy in the early hours lack objective measurement ***,this systematic review aims to identify putative molecules that can be used in diagnosis in daily clinical practice(PROSPERO ID:CRD42021272610).Data sources Searches were performed in PubMed,Web of Science,and Science Direct databases until November *** original papers analyzing samples from newborns>36 weeks that met at least two American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists diagnostic criteria and/or imaging evidence of cerebral damage were *** was assessed by the Newcastle–Ottawa *** search and data extraction were verified by two authors *** from 373 papers,30 met the inclusion *** from samples collected in the first 72 hours were extracted,and increased serum levels of neuron-specific enolase and S100-calcium-binding protein-B were associated with a worse prognosis in newborns that suffered an episode of perinatal *** addition,the levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein,ubiquitin carboxyl terminal hydrolase isozyme-L1,glutamic pyruvic transaminase-2,lactate,and glucose were elevated in newborns diagnosed with hypoxic–ischemic ***,pathway analysis revealed insulin-like growth factor signaling and alanine,aspartate and glutamate metabolism to be involved in the early molecular response to *** Neuron-specific enolase and S100-calcium-binding protein-B are potential biomarkers,since they are correlated with an unfavorable outcome of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy ***,more studies are required to determine the sensitivity and specificity of this approach to be validated for clinical practice.
