Climate change is increasing the frequency of extreme heat events that aggravate its negative impact on plant development and agricultural *** experiments designed to study plant adaption to heat stress apply homogeneous high temperatures to both shoot and ***,this treatment does not mimic the conditions in natural fields,where roots grow in a dark environment with a descending temperature *** high temperatures severely decrease cell division in the root meristem,compromising root growth,while increasing the division of quiescent center cells,likely in an attempt to maintain the stem cell niche under such harsh ***,we engineered the TGRooZ,a device that generates a temperature gradient for in vitro or greenhouse growth *** root systems of plants exposed to high shoot temperatures but cultivated in theTGRooZ grow efficiently and maintain their functionality to sustain proper shoot growth and ***,gene expression and rhizosphere or root microbiomecomposition are significantly less affected in TGRooZ-grown roots than in high-temperature-grown roots,correlating with higher root *** data indicate that use of the TGRooZ in heat-stress studies can improve our knowledge of plant response to high temperatures,demonstrating its applicability from laboratory studies to the field.

short-term outcomes after the loading phase of intravitreal bevacizumab and subthreshold macular laser in non-center involved diabetic macular edema

AIM： To compare the effectiveness of intravitreal bevacizumab and subthreshold macular photocoagulation （sMP）, for the treatment of non-center involved diabetic macular edema （non-CI DME）. METHODs： Prospective, randomized, controlled clinical study included patients with type 2 diabetes, non-CI DME and best-corrected visual acuity （BCVA） of 0.30 logMAR or better. Each eye was randomized into three groups： group 1, monthly intravitreal bevacizumab; group 2, single sMP; group 3, single sMP and monthly bevacizumab. Main outcome measures were BCVA, and macular thickness measured with optical coherence tomography as macular central subfield thickness （CsT）, macular area of greater thickness （MAGT） and total macular volume （TMV）. Results were analyzed after 3mo. REsULTs： A total of 32 eyes were included. Group 3 improved in BCVA （0.19±0.16 to 0.12±0.14 logMAR; P=0.041） and in TMV （7.90±0.57 to 7.65±0.73 mm3; P=0.025）. Group 1 improved in MAGT （325±26.26 to 298.20±44.85 μm; P=0.022） and TMV （7.79±0.57 to 7.50±0.56 mm3, P=0.047）. Group 2 didn’t show significant improvement of any variable. CONCLUsION： The loading phase of bevacizumab as monotherapy or combined with sMP is superior to sMP as monotherapy in providing short-term visual and anatomical improvement in non-CI DME.

Evaluating Mitigation Plans over Traffic sector to Improve NO<sub>2</sub>Levels in Andalusia (spain) Using a Regional-Local scale Photochemical Modelling system

In this contribution, we present an evaluation of different mitigation plans to improve NO2 levels in Andalusia, a region in the south of spain. specifically, we consider four possible mitigation plans: the effects over NO2 concentration of apply changes in the distribution of Vehicles Park;the effect of realize traffic restrictions (affecting to the density flow of vehicles) over highways and main roads;the effect of replacement of diesel use by natural gas in urban areas;and the effect of applying new velocity limits to access to urban areas. A sophisticated air quality modelling (AQM) system has been used to evaluate these mitigation plans. AQM implemented is composed on WRF meteorological model, an emission model created by the authors and CMAQ photochemical model. AQM analyzes mitigation plans during fifteen episodes of 2011 where NO2 levels were the highest of the year;so we analyze the effect of mitigation plans in worst conditions. Results provided by the AQM system show that: 1-h maximum daily NO2 is reduced to 10μg.m-3 near circulation roads when traffic restrictions and velocity limits plans are applied (NOx emissions are reduced in 9% - 15%);1-h maximum daily NO2 is reduced to 12 μg.m-3 affecting all municipalities when changes in the distribution of Vehicles Park are applied (NOx emissions are reduced in 25% - 26%);and the replacement of fuel of urban buses does not affect considerably NO2 levels.

Oxidative stress modulation in hepatitis C virus infected cells

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) replication is associated with the endoplasmic reticulum, where the virus can induce cellular stress. Oxidative cell damage plays an important role in HCV physiopathology. Oxidative stress is triggered when the concentration of oxygen species in the extracellular or intracellular environment exceeds antioxidant defenses. Cells are protected and modulate oxidative stress through the interplay of intracellular antioxidant agents, mainly glutathione system(GsH) and thioredoxin; and antioxidant enzyme systems such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, GsH peroxidase, and heme oxygenase-1. Also, the use of natural and synthetic antioxidants(vitamin C and E, N-acetylcysteine, glycyrrhizin, polyenylphosphatidyl choline, mitoquinone, quercetin, s-adenosylmethionine and silymarin) has already shown promising results as co-adjuvants in HCV therapy. Despite all the available information, it is not known how different agents with antiviral activity can interfere with the modulation of the cell redox state induced by HCV and decrease viral replication. This review describes an evidence-based consensus on molecular mechanisms involved in HCV replication and their relationship with cell damage induced by oxidative stress generated by the virus itself and cell antiviral machinery. It also describes some molecules that modify the levels of oxidative stress in HCV-infected cells.

studies on litterfall and decomposition provide estimations of decomposition rates of different *** is key information to understanding ecosystem dynamics and changes in a scenario of global *** objective of this research was to assess litterfall production,the potential deposition of macro and micronutrients through leaf and twig fall as well as macronutrient—use efficiency in three forest ecosystems at different altitudes： a pine forest mixed with deciduous species（s1）; a Quercus ***（s2）; and,a Tamaulipan thornscrub forest（s3）.Total annual litterfall deposition was 594,742 and 533 g m^（-2） for s1,s2 and *** litter was higher （68%） than twigs（18%）,reproductive structures（8%） or miscellaneous material（6%）.Micronutrient leaf deposition was higher for Fe followed by Mn,Zn and *** leaf deposition was higher for Ca followed by K,Mg and *** though P deposition in leaves and twigs was lower than other macronutrients,its nutrient use efficiency was higher than Ca,Mg or *** and species composition determine litter and nutrient deposition,with higher values at mid-altitudes（550 m）.Altitude is an important factor to consider when analyzing litter production as well as nutrient deposition as shown in this *** production and nutrient deposition are expected to change in a scenario of global warming.

More than 670 million cases of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)have been recorded worldwide in the 3 years since the start of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(sARs-CoV-2)*** 45%of survivors of COVID-19 develop a syndrome known as long-term COVID,in which symptoms persist even months after the acute *** 76%of patients with long COVID experience neurological ***,patients who have survived COVID-19 have an increased risk of cerebral venous *** case report describes a 41-year-old woman who developed neurological manifestations associated with jugular vein thrombosis 24 h after administration of the Oxford–AstraZeneca(ChAdOx1 nCoV-19)vaccine(AstraZeneca-serum Institute of India).she had been infected with sARs-CoV-2 three months before *** initially suspected to be a case of vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia(VITT)in view of her recent vaccination,the patient did not have any hallmarks of VITT,such as thrombocytopenia,an increased D-dimer level,or antibodies against platelet ***,the neurological manifestations were associated with a high concentration of inflammatory cytokines,including interleukin(IL)-6,IL-17A,and IL-21,and elevated neutrophil levels in cerebrospinal fluid,suggesting that inflammatory immune components had a role in the development of thrombotic events and pointing to an alternative *** this case,the laboratory results indicated that the neurological manifestations associated with jugular vein thrombosis were not associated with ***,we propose that the thrombosis of the left jugular vein was a sequela of sARs-CoV-2 infection.

Jasmonates(JAs) are phytohormones that finely regulate critical biological processes, including plant development and defense. JAsMONATE ZIM-DOMAIN(JAZ) proteins are crucial transcriptional regulators that keep JA-responsive genes in a repressed state. In the presence of JA-Ile, JAZ repressors are ubiquitinated and targeted for degradation by the ubiquitin/proteasome system,allowing the activation of downstream transcription factors and, consequently, the induction of JA-responsive genes. A growing body of evidence has shown that JA signaling is crucial in defending against plant viruses and their insect vectors. Here, we describe the interaction of C2proteins from two tomato-infecting geminiviruses from the genus Begomovirus, tomato yellow leaf curl virus(TYLCV) and tomato yellow curl sardinia virus(TYLCsaV), with the transcriptional repressor JAZ8 from Arabidopsis thaliana and its closest orthologue in tomato, slJAZ9. Both JAZ and C2proteins colocalize in the nucleus, forming discrete nuclear speckles. Overexpression of JAZ8did not lead to altered responses to TYLCV infection in Arabidopsis;however, knock-down of JAZ8 favors geminiviral infection. Low levels of JAZ8 likely affect the viral infection specifically,since JAZ8-silenced plants neither display obvious developmental phenotypes nor present differences in their interaction with the viral insect vector. In summary, our results show that the geminivirus-encoded C2 interacts with JAZ8 in the nucleus, and suggest that this plant protein exerts an anti-geminiviral effect.
