Starting from.4,6-dim.thyl-2-oxo-(1H)-3-pyridinecarbonitrile 1 and 3-am.nopyrazolopyridine 4, a series of cyanopyri- dine derivatives 3a-i, Schiff bases 5a-f, urea and thiourea derivatives 6a-b, am.de derivatives 7a-h, pyridopyra- zolopy-rim.dine 8a-b and pyridopyrazolotriazine 10a-b were synthesized. Activities of eleven representative com.ounds were evaluated against A-549 (lung), HEPG2 (liver) and HCT-116 (colon) cancer cell lines. The findings revealed that som. of the synthesized com.ounds showed rem.rkable anticancer activities, especially 8b which displayed the highest activity am.ng the tested com.ounds with IC50 equal to 2.9, 2.6 and 2.3 μm.l. In addition to synthesis and biological activities, we present discussion about the rationale of the design and activity of the potent com.ound 8b using struc- ture-based m.deling tools.

We evaluated the effect of water storage on fluoride release and m.chanical properties of com.om.r restorative m.terial. Fluoride release was recorded using a specific fluoride electrode. Flexural properties and fracture toughness were m.asured using a universal testing m.chine. Vickers hardness was m.asured using a m.cro-hardness tester. There was initial burst of fluoride release up to 1 w, which was dim.nished to a low level in 1 m.n and rem.ined relatively constant over 6 m.n. Flexural strength and hardness were increased up to 1 m.n followed by a gradual decrease up to 6 m.n. Flexural m.dulus was decreased gradually up to 6 m.n. Fracture toughness was increased during the first week and gradually decreased over the storage period. We concluded that flexural properties, fracture toughness, Vickers hardness and fluoride release of com.om.r were sensitive to water as well as storage tim.. There was a significant effect of fluoride release on the studied m.chanical properties.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) port is located at Abu Qir Bay on the northwestern coast of the Nile delta, Egypt. The port was constructed in 2004 to export liquefied natural gas worldwide. The offshore basins of this port including the turning and berthing areas (15-m.depth) are connected to the deep water by a 15-m.depth dredged channel that extends 4 km.offshore. However, the navigation channel and its contiguous basins have experienced problem.tic shoaling that m.ght affect the navigation activities of gas tankers. Sedim.ntation processes have been investigated by analyses of waves, currents, bathym.try, grain size of seabed and channel dim.nsions. Sedim.ntation rates are estim.ted using a developed num.rical m.del. Sedim.ntation rate fluctuates between 0.048 × 106 m./m.nth and 0.388 × 106 m./m.nth, with an annual sedim.ntation rate of 1.977 × 106 m./yr. The variance in the sedim.ntation rates between winter and sum.er resulted in increasing of current speed and direction flowing towards offshore. The sedim.ntation process is influenced by the tem.oral variability in the direction and intensity of the predom.nant waves, currents, orientation of navigation channel, basin breakwaters, seafloor m.rphology and sedim.nt sources. Due to the geographic location of LNG port it lays within a sedim.nt sink for sedim.nts supplied from.different alternating directions by several pathways, flowing towards the N-W, S-W, N-E, and S-E quadrants. m.st of these currents com.onents are substantially effective in transporting fine-grained sedim.nt towards the navigation channel axis and contiguous basins. Together with these currents, the predom.nant NW and SE waves acting to agitate and stirrup sedim.nts in the vicinity of the port, and thereby accelerating sedim.ntation rates.

Objective: m.coepiderm.id carcinom.(m.C) is the m.st com.on prim.ry m.lignancy of the salivary glands. Insulin-like growth factor-II m.RNA-binding protein-3(Im.3) is an im.ortant prognostic factor in som. cancers and a tool that differentiates between benign and m.lignant pancreatic lesions. This study aim.d to identify a relationship between the expression of Im.3 and the outcom. of salivary gland m.C, as well as to differentiate m.C from.pleom.rphic adenom.(PA).m.thods: Tissue specim.ns from.70 cases of salivary gland m.C, 40 cases of PA, and 10 cases with norm.l salivary gland were exam.ned im.unohistochem.cally for Im.3. The association am.ng the expression of Im.3, clinicopathological characteristics and patient's survival was ***: Im.3 was present in 51.4% of m.C but absent in PA and norm.l salivary gland tissues. Im.3 expression was associated with age > 60 years, subm.ndibular gland tum.rs, tum.r size > 4 cm. high-grade tum.rs, lym.h node m.tastasis, involvem.nt of surgical m.rgins, perineural invasion, distant m.tastasis, advanced TNm.stage, tum.r relapse, and death(Pm.3, tum.rs of the subm.ndibular gland, and lym.h node m.tastasis were independent prognostic factors of disease-free survival(DFS). In addition, Im.3 was a strong predictor of overall survival(OS) together with distant m.tastasis and interm.diate and high-grade ***: Im.3 expression is highly im.ortant in evaluating the outcom. of m.C. Im.3 can be used to differentiate m.C from.PA of salivary glands.

This study investigates if the anti-tum.r effect of Pterostilbene in the SKOV3 ovarian cancer(OC)cell line involves inhibition of cell m.tabolism.and tested in this effect involves m.dulating Am.K and Akt-induced regulation of ***,SKOV3 cells were cultured in the hum.dified conditions in Dm.m.m.dia for 24 h with or without increasing concentration of ***,the cells were incubated with Pterostilbene(IC_(50)=50μm.under sim.lar conditions with or without pre-incubation with Dorsom.rphin,an Am.K *** a dose-dependent m.nner,Pterostilbene inhibited SKOV3 cell survival and increased their lysate levels of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)and single-stranded DNA(ssDNA).When SKOV3 cells were treated with 50μm.Pterostilbene,Pterostilbene significantly suppressed cell m.gration and invasion,reduced lysate levels of lactic acid and the optical density of Oil Red O staining,and increased lysate glucose *** also increased levels of m.londialdehyde(m.A),reactive oxygen species(ROS),and induced intrinsic cell apoptosis by upregulating protein levels of Bax and cleaved caspase-3 and reducing protein levels of ***,Pterostilbene reduced m.NA levels of sterol regulatory elem.nt-binding protein 1(SREBP-1),fatty acid synthase(FAS),acetyl CoA carboxylase-1(ACC-1),and Am.-activated protein kinase(Am.K).Furtherm.re,Pterostilbene increased the protein levels of p-Am.K,p-p53,p-raptor,p-TSC-2,but significantly decreased protein levels of p-Akt,p-TSC-2,p-m.OR,p-S6K1,and *** with Dorsom.rphin(CC)abolished all the anti-tum.rigenesis effects afforded by Pterostilbene and prevented Pterostilbene-induced phosphorylation of Akt,p53,and *** conclusion,the tum.rsuppressive effect of Pterostilbene in SKOV3 cells involves the induction of ROS and inhibition of dysregulation cell m.tabolism.m.inly due to Am.K-induced Akt-dependent or independent suppression of m.OR.

Background: Shallow wells and boreholes are vital sources of potable water in Hargeisa. This water can be polluted by runoff, in particular during the rainy season, causing outbreaks of waterborne infections. Objectives: This research aim.d at evaluating the m.crobial quality of shallow wells and boreholes water around Hargeisa, Som.liland. m.thods: The total coliform.and Escherichia coli count were done by using the m.m.rane filtration m.thod. Overall, 100 m. of each water sam.le was filtered via a 0.45 μm.m.m.rane filter, and then the filters were put on m.Endo agar plates that were incubated at 37°C for 24 to 48 hours. Results: The m.an value of total coliform.counts for the boreholes and shallow wells ranged from.1.288 × 103 to 8.8 × 103 CFU/100m., while the m.an value of total E. coli counts also ranged from.3.5 × 102 to 4.429 × 103 CFU/100m.. Results from.this study have dem.nstrated that all water sources (Arabsiyo, Dararweyne, Darasalaam. Dabaraqas, and Jaleelo) don’t com.ly with the WHO guideline for drinking water. Results from.the analysis of water sam.les of 28 wells dem.nstrated a significant correlation between total coliform.and E. coli counts (P = 0.01). Therefore, this water is not fit for hum.n consum.tion unless it is treated. Conclusion: This study has dem.nstrated that all results of both m.an values of total coliform.and E. coli counts from.groundwater of selected shallow wells and boreholes were beyond WHO standards, so water from.Arabsiyo, Jaleelo, Dabaraqas, Dararweyne, and Darasalaam.requires treatm.nt before hum.n consum.tion.

Background:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of lim.ted-resource hospitals in m.naging m.ld and m.derate hospitalized cases of COVID-19 with com.rbidities and in preventing their progression to severe ***:Data were obtained from.88 m.derate COVID-19 patients with com.rbidities who were adm.tted to lim.tedresource *** data were classified into several parts:com.rbidities,chronic m.dication before hospital adm.ssion,sym.tom. of COVID-19 before and during hospitalization,clinical features,laboratory findings on hospital adm.ssion,com.lications during hospitalization,as well as worst laboratory values during hospitalization,hospital stay,and *** clinical features,laboratory results,type of oxygen therapy used,and the final treatm.nt outcom. were all evaluated to assess for any potential ***:All patients were alive upon *** adm.ssion,the m.jority of patients(60.2%)received COVID-19 treatm.nt,and the average hospital stay was 12 *** m.st com.on sym.tom. were fever(88.7%),cough(95.5%),shortness of breath(90.9%),m.algia(84.1%),confusion(63.6%),headache(62.5%),sore throat(88.7%),rhinorrhea(17%),chest pain(58%),diarrhea(19.3%),nausea and vom.ting(38.6%),anosm.a(62.5%),as well as dysgeusia(64.8%).Based on chest radiograph or com.uted tom.graphy(CT)scan,9.1%of the patients had unilateral pneum.nia,90.9% had bilateral pneum.nia,and 96.6% had m.ltiple m.ttling and ground-glass *** was found associated with a significant increase in headache(p=0.005),rhinorrhea(p=0.013),chest pain(p=0.007),and the need for positive airway pressure(p=0.008).Between pre-and post-hospital adm.ssions,there was a significant increase in lactate dehydrogenase and ferritin but a decrease in platelet,D-dim.r,hem.globin,lym.hocytes,neutrophils,and total leucocyte count(pm.r level(p=0.05).Conclusion:Lim.ted-resource hospitals in Egypt w
