Suitability and assessment of the dams water for the purpose of agricultural irrigation

This study was carried out to evaluate the water quality of selected dam lakes as well as their suitability for agricultural *** dams were selected for water sampling and samples were collected monthly,including during the irrigation season for a period of one year from March to September *** samples were analyzed for temperature,pH,physicochemical parameters such as temperature,pH value,salinity(EC),anions(CO_(3),HCO_(3),CI,SO_(4),P,NO_(3)),cations(Na,K,Ca,Mg,B,NH_(4))and heavy *** irrigation suitability assessment was made using various indices such as SAR(sodium adsorption rate),TDS(total dissolved solids),Na%(sodium percentage),RSC(residual sodium bicarbonate),MAR(magnesium adsorption rate),KR(Kelly ratio),and PI(permeability index).The temperature values of the water samples varied between 5.8℃-25.1℃,pH and EC values changed between 7.51 and 8.46,282,and 1400μS/cm *** water samples were evaluated as C_(2)S_(1) and C_(3)S_(1) irrigation water *** heavy metal contents of the water samples were determined below the limit *** dams were found suitable for irrigation in terms of EC(salinity),SAR(sodium adsorption rate),TDS(total dissolved solids),Na%(sodium percentage),RSC(residual sodium bicarbonate),MAR(magnesium adsorption rate),and KR(Kelly ratio).Water samples were determined as the second class of PI(permeability index).Güllübağdam was not found suitable as irrigation water in terms of EC,Na%,RSC,and KR *** a result,it specifically points to the restrictions on the use of water from the Güllübağdam for irrigation purposes.

Optic disc area in different types of glaucoma

AIMTo evaluate the possible relationship of optic disc area with retina nerve fiber layer in different glaucoma *** eye each was chosen from 45 patients with ocular hypertension, 45 patients with primary open angle glaucoma, 45 patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma and 45 healthy controls followed in our hospital. The records of the patients were reviewed retrospectively. Optic disc area and circumpapillary retina nerve fiber layer measurements were obtained using optical coherence tomography. Central corneal thickness was measured by ultrasound *** median disc area in the patients with primary open angle glaucoma was significantly higher than the patients with ocular hypertension (2.19 vs 1.90 mm2, P=0.030). The median retina nerve fiber layer was thinner in the patients with primary open angle glaucoma and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma than the patients with ocular hypertension for superior, inferior and temporal quadrants. After adjustment for age, no difference in central corneal thickness was found between the groups. Greater disc area was associated with thicker retinal nerve fiber layer for superior, inferior and nasal quadrants in the patients with primary open angle glaucoma. There was no correlation between disc area and central corneal thickness measurements of the *** size affects the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in eyes with primary open angle glaucoma and is a possible risk factor for glaucomatous optic nerve damage.

Novel markers in predicting Brucella sacroiliitis:The platelet large cell ratio and basal immature reticulocyte fraction

Objective:To present platelet large cell ratio(P-LCR),reticulocyte,and immature reticulocyte fraction(IRF)values as novel parameters in diagnosis and response to treatment in patients developing ***:Sixty-eight patients with clinical symptoms and Brucella standard tube agglutination(Wright)or Brucella Coombs agglutination test titers≥1:160 were included in the *** groups were established,one developing sacroiliitis and another with no sacroiliitis development.P-LCR,reticulocyte,and IRF levels were measured using a Sysmex XN-9000 device(Japan).These were then compared between the two ***:Reticulocyte(P=0.037)and IRF(P=0.026)levels were significantly lower among the patients developing sacroiliitis compared to the non-sacroiliitis group,while P-LCR(P=0.003)levels were significantly higher.P-LCR had the most powerful correlation with sacroiliitis *** negative correlation was observed between reticulocyte,IRF levels and ***:Elevated P-LCR levels were observed as a marker of persisting inflammation in patients developing sacroiliitis,while low reticulocyte and IRF levels secondary to bone marrow involvement were *** three parameters emerged as highly significant markers in terms of diagnosis and reflecting responses to treatment in organ involvement such as sacroiliitis in *** are presented as inexpensive,and easily accessible novel parameters.

Ischemic stroke due to carbon monoxide intoxication: Two case reports

Dear editor, Following its entrance into the human body through inhalation, carbon monoxide （CO） forms carboxyhemoglobin （COHb） by binding to hemoglobin （Hb） within the blood. Massive ischemic tissue necrosis occurs in 0.5%-1% of cases with CO poisoning. The affinity of CO to Hb is 200-250 times more when compared to the affinity of oxygen. As a result of CO binding to Hb, oxygen delivery to the tissues is reduced, and tissue hypoxia develops. This affects mostly the brain and heart, which are the organs with the highest demand for oxygen.

Radiotherapy of brain metastases from non-small cell lung cancer

Brain metastases risk at the time of diagnosis or during the course of disease is high in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Even the incidence of brain metastases has increased in recent years, due to detection of smaller asymptomatic lesions with MRI screening as well as improved survival as a consequence of developments in systemic therapies. In the last decade, there have been many trials in the management of NSCLC patients with brain metastases, questioning the role of adjuvant whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) after surgery or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), WBRT, compared to best supportive care in patients not amenable to surgery, aggressive local therapies in solitary brain metastases, postsurgical cavity SRS, SRS in non-oligometastatic patients, cranial radiotherapy in patients with driver mutations, thyrosine kinase inhibitors, immune check point inhibitors and the impact of therapies on neurocognitive functions and quality of life. The main objective of this review is to provide an update on current trends in radiotherapy in the management of newly diagnosed brain metastases from NSCLC.

Labelling of a pyrazole derivative with ^(131)I and investigation of its radiopharmaceutical potential

We investigated the radiolabeling efficiency, in vitro stability, and biodistribution of radioactive iodine (131I)-labeled 4-benzoyl-1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-5-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (P3CA). A quality-control study of the labeled substance ( 131I-P3CA) was conducted using electrophoresis and radio thin-layer chromatography (RTLC). Biodistribution studies were undertaken in 9 female albino Wistar rats. Rats were killed at various times (15, 60 and 180 min), their organs removed, and percentage of injected dose per gram (ID%/g) values calculated. The labeling yield of P3CA was 97.08%±0.80%. The maximum uptake of 131I-P3CA was seen in the lungs, stomach and spleen at 15 min. The uptake of labeled compound decreased over time in the lungs, whereas that in the stomach decreased. These data suggest that 131I-P3CA had high binding efficiency, high uptake in the lung, and sufficient stability to be used in diagnostic studies.

Treatment of solitary gastric carcinoid tumor by endoscopic polypectomy in a patient with pernicious anemia

Type I gastric cardnoid tumors result from hypergastrinemia in 1%-7% of patients with pernicious anemia. We diagnosed pernicious anemia in a 48-year-old female patient with complaint of fatigue for three months. She had no gastrointestinal symptoms. Endoscopic examination ot the upper gastrointestinal tract revealed atrophic gastritis and a polypoid lesion in the corpus of 3-4 mm in size. Endoscopic polypectomy was performed. Histopathological examination of the specimen revealed positive chromogranin A and synaptophysin stainings compatible with the diagnosis of a carcinoid tumor. Serum gastrin level was increased, urinary 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid was within the normal range. There was no other symptom, sign, or laboratory finding of a carcinoid syndrome in the patient. No metastasis was found with indium-ill octreotide scan, computed tomographies of abdomen and thorax. Type I gastric carcinoid tumors are only rarely solitary and patients with tumors 〈 1 cm in size may benefit from endoscopic polypectomy.

Optical and electrical conductivity properties of rare earth elements(Sm, Y, La, Er) co-doped CeO_(2)

In this research,un-doped CeO_(2) and Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)MO_(0.05)O_(2)(M:Sm,Er,Y) compounds were synthesized by hydrothermal method and the multi-functional properties are *** defects were created with the additives of rare earth *** electrical and luminescence behaviors of the synthesized compounds were investigated in accord with the types of *** synthesized products were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) measurement,UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),photoluminescence(PL)spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic(EIS).All synthesized compounds are found to be nano-structured and have cubic *** total conductivity of all samples was ***,the total conductivity of un-doped CeO_(2),Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)Y_(0.05)O_(2),Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)Er_(0.05)O_(2) and Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)Sm_(0.05)O_(2) is found to be 2.07×10^(-10),5.70×10^(-4),1.0×10^(-3) and 0.0747 S/cm,***,bandgap energy(E_(g)) of these samples calculated from UV visible absorption spectra is discussed,and the optical results show variation between 3.2 and 2.15 ***,the luminescence properties of the compounds were investigated and different emissions occur depending on the additive ***,photoluminescent emission spectra of Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)Y_(0.05)O_(2),Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)Er_(0.05)O_(2) and Ce_(0.85)La_(0.10)Sm_(0.05)O_(2) phosphors indicate that these phosphors have red,green and orange-red colors,respectively.

采用溶剂热法制备出富炭硬沥青基WO3/TiO2催化剂。通过光电子能谱议(XPS)、红外光谱仪(FTIR)、拉曼光谱仪(Raman)、扫描电镜(SEM)和UV-Vis漫反射光谱仪(DRS)等手段表征催化剂的形貌、结构、光学和物理性质。SEM观察到硬沥青表面完全被WO3/TiO2颗粒覆盖。Raman和XPS分析表明,富炭硬沥青与WO3,TiO2复合良好。DRS结果显示在带隙较低时(2.83 eV),富炭硬沥青基WO3/TiO2催化剂对可见光的吸收性能得到提高。在UV-A辐照下,通过降解橙色Ⅱ染料和药物来探讨所制催化剂的光催化性能。橙色Ⅱ染料降解度随着硬沥青添加比例增加而增加,这归因于吸附和光催化的协同效应,即光吸收的增加和光产生的空穴和电子在W/Ti界面容易转移。而且,为了对比硬沥青原料与所制催化剂的吸附性能,在不同pH值下进行了批量吸附实验,并采用等温线和动力吸附模型探讨了温度和吸附值。本研究提供了富炭硬沥青作为自然碳源应用于碳基光催化材料制备思路。
