Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is an autoimmune disease, resulting in a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder. It may affect many tissues and organs, but it primarily affects the flexible joints. In clinical practice patient care generates many questions about diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. It is challenging for health care specialists to keep up to date with the medical literature. This review summarizes the pathogenesis, the polymorphisms of interleukin and interleukin genes and the standard available and possible future immunologictargets for RA treatment. The identification of diseaseassociated interleukin and interleukin receptor genes can provide precious insight into the genetic variations prior to disease onset in order to identify the pathways important for RA pathogenesis. The knowledge of the complex genetic background may prove useful for developing novel therapies and making personalized medicine based on the individual's genetics.

Ulcerative colitis(UC) is one of the main types of inflammatory bowel disease, which is caused by dysregulated immune responses in genetically predisposed individuals. Several genetic factors, including interleukin and interleukin receptor gene polymorphisms and other inflammation-related genes play central role in mediating and modulating the inflammation in the human body, thereby these can be the main cause of development of the disease. It is clear these data are very important for understanding the base of the disease, especially in terms of clinical utility and validity, but summarized literature is exiguous for challenge health specialist that can used in the clinical practice nowadays. This review summarizes the current literature on inflammationrelated genetic polymorphisms which are associated with UC. We performed an electronic search of Pubmed Database among publications of the last 10 years, using the following medical subject heading terms: UC, ulcerative colitis, inflammation, genes, polymorphisms, and susceptibility.

Many attempts on optimization of sorghum[Sorghum bicolor(L.)Moench]tissue culture induction media have been made,but the culture system remains with some bottlenecks compared to that of other *** study aimed at assessing the suitability of various induction media to produce embryogenic callus(yellow and friable)with high induction rates and reduced phenolic *** six culture medium modifications:3 based on Murashige and Skoog(MS)medium and one each based on Chu N6,Gamborg B5 and 190-2 media respectively were applied in the culture of mature embryos from 10 sorghum *** there was a genotype influence on the attainment of a yellow callus,friability of the callus was determined to be dependent on the culture medium and not the *** strength MS medium with 0.2 mg/l 2,4-D with 2.8 g/l Gelrite®as the gelling agent modified with 1.0 g/l KH_(2)PO_(4),1.0 g/l L-proline,1.0 g/l L-asparagine and 0.16 mg/l CuSO_(4)·5H_(2)O(type E)was found to be the most effective resulting in about 60%yellow coloured callus induction with 25%*** of CuSO_(4)·5H_(2)O,KH_(2)PO_(4),L-proline and L-asparagine significantly reduced the phenolic *** strength MS medium was observed to contribute to quality callus production when compared to full strength MS media modified with the *** half strength MS medium was also observed to suppress phenolic *** 190-2 produced the highest regeneration frequency(40%)among the 3-regeneration media *** results provide information on a suitable sorghum callus induction medium necessary for embryogenesis.

Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs) continue to represent the number one cause of death and disability in industrialized countries. The most severe form of CVD is acute myocardial infarction(AMI), a devastating disease associated with high mortality and disability. In a substantial proportion of patients who survive AMI, loss of functional cardiomyocytes as a result of ischaemic injury leads to ventricular failure, resulting in significant alteration to quality of life and increased mortality. Therefore, many attempts have been made in recent years to identify new tools for the regeneration of functional cardiomyocytes. Regenerative therapy currently represents the ultimate goal for restoring the function of damaged myocardium by stimulating the regeneration of the infarcted tissue or by providing cellsthat can generate new myocardial tissue to replace the damaged tissue. Stem cells(SCs) have been proposed as a viable therapy option in these cases. However, despite the great enthusiasm at the beginning of the SC era, justified by promising initial results, this therapy has failed to demonstrate a significant benefit in large clinical trials. One interesting finding of SC studies is that exosomes released by mesenchymal SCs(MSCs) are able to enhance the viability of cardiomyocytes after ischaemia/reperfusion injury, suggesting that the beneficial effects of MSCs in the recovery of functional myocardium could be related to their capacity to secrete exosomes. Ten years ago, it was discovered that exosomes have the unique property of transferring miRNA between cells, acting as miRNA nanocarriers. Therefore, exosomebased therapy has recently been proposed as an emerging tool for cardiac regeneration as an alternative to SC therapy in the post-infarction period. This review aims to discuss the emerging role of exosomes in developing innovative therapies for cardiac regeneration as well as their potential role as candidate biomarkers or for developing new diagnostic tools.

Soil organic carbon(SOC) has primary importance in terms of soil physics, soil fertility and even of climate change control. One hundred soil samples were taken from an intensively cultivated Cambisol to quantify SOC redistribution triggered by soil erosion under a subhumid climate, by the simultaneous application of diffuse reflectance(240–1 900 nm) and traditional physico-chemical *** representative sample points were collected from the solum along the slopes at the depth of 20–300 cm with a mean SOC content of 12 g kg^(-1). Hierarchical cluster analyses were performed based on the determined SOC results. The spatial pattern of the groups created were similar, and even though the classifications were not the same, diffuse reflectance had proven to be a suitable method for soil/sediment classification even within a given arable field. Both organic and inorganic carbon distributions were found to be a proper tool for estimations of past soil erosion processes. The SOC enrichment was found on two sedimentary spots with different geomorphological positions. Soil organic matter composition also differed between the two spots due to selective deposition of the delivered organic matter. The components with low-molecular-weight reached the bottom of the slope where they could leach into the profile, while the more polymerised organic matter compositions were delivered and deposited even before on a higher segment of the slope in an aggregated form. This spatial difference appeared below the uppermost tilled soil layer as well, referring the lower efficiency of conventional ploughing tillage in soil spatial homogenisation.

Coherence, a measure of spectral similarity, may estimate cortical coupling between two EEG signals as a function of frequency. The coherence between EEG signals from different brain areas depends on the structural connection and functional coupling between two regions. The theory of hemispheric specialization proposes left hemisphere activation to positive emotions and right one to negative emotions. Other proposal is that right hemisphere activation occurs with emotional stimuli. In the present study EEG coherences were calculated during the presentation of the International Affective Pictures to 36 healthy male university students. The subjects’ task was to determine the valence of the stimuli. Base line recording were done with subjects observing the blank monitor. Our results showed higher coherences during the emotional condition. No differences between negative and positive emotions were obtained. Neutral pictures evoked the highest coherence values. These data suggest that coherences between functionally coupled brain areas do not reflect emotional recognition of the valence of stimuli, but they are internal indicators of different mental processes such as memory, mental effort and arousal. Our findings do not support the theory of hemispheric specialization, neither the theory of right hemisphere;rather they suggest a complex activation pattern that involves mostly frontal areas in connection with the entire cortex.

Objective: Measure the effects of Early Intervention ad modum Katona (EI-K) in high-risk premature infants by means of clinical, neurobehavioral, and neurophysiologic tests. Method: We used the Amiel-Tison neurologic examination, the Bayley Scale of Infant Behavior, and electroencephalography (EEG) recordings at 42 weeks of conceptional age, and after 6 months of treatment EI-K (n = 14) and compared these results with those of a group of infants without early intervention (nEI) (n = 11). Results: We found better performance of infants in EI-K than nEI group after 6 months of treatment in neurologic and behavioral examination measurements, but found no differences in EEG comparisons. Conclusion: Our data suggest significant benefit of the use of EI-K program over n-EI in the neurologic and neurobe-havior examinations of premature infants after 6 months of age.

DNA extraction from paraffin embedded colorectal carcinoma samples: A comparison study of manual vs automated methods,using four commercially kits

BACKGROUND Nucleic acid isolation from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue(FFPET)samples is a daily routine in molecular pathology laboratories, but extraction from FFPET is not always easily achieved. Choosing the right extraction technique is key for further *** To compare the performance of four commercially available kits used for DNA extraction in routine *** DNA isolation was performed on 46 randomly selected formalin-fixed, paraffinembedded(FFPE) colorectal adenocarcinoma(CRC) surgical specimens. Four commercially available extraction kits were used: two for manual DNA extraction(the Pure Link Genomic DNA Mini Kit from Invitrogen and the High Pure FFPE DNA Isolation Kit from Roche) and two for automated DNA extraction(the i Prep Genomic DNA Kit from Invitrogen and the Magna Pure LC DNA Isolation Kit from Roche). The DNA concentration and quality(odds ratio) among the four systems were compared. The results were correlated with the clinicopathological aspects of CRC cases: age, gender, localization, macro-and microscopic features,lymph node metastases, and the lymph node *** The highest DNA concentration was obtained using the manual kits: 157.24 ±62.99 ng/μL for the Pure Link Genomic DNA Mini Kit and 86.64 ng/μL± 43.84 for the High Pure FFPE DNA Isolation Kit(P < 0.0001). Lower concentrations were obtained with automated systems: 20.39 ± 21.19 ng/μL for the Magna Pure LC DNA Isolation Kit and 8.722 ± 6.408 ng/μL for the i Prep Genomic DNA Kit,with differences between the systems used(P < 0.0001). The comparison between age, gender, tumor localization, pT or pN stage and the lymph node ratio indicated no statistically significant difference in DNA concentration using any of the nucleic acid isolation kits. DNA concentration was influenced by the macroscopic features and grade of differentiation.
