Malaysia Airlines flight 17 crashed on 17 July 2014 while flying over an area of armed conflict in eastern *** first forensic trace evidence was collected after the human remains were transferred to a safe location in the Netherlands for identification and *** victim identification processes were therefore undertaken in concert with the forensic *** to these processes,X-ray and computed tomography scanners were used to reveal foreign objects in the human remains,and a large number of these fragments were recovered after the forensic triage.A distinct group of metal fragments was identified as being potential remnants of high-energy foreign *** analysis revealed that they were explosively deformed unalloyed steel fragments,some of which had shapes consistent with pre-formed metal fragments found in a 9N314M warhead used in Buk SA-11 ***,thin film deposits of cockpit glass and aluminium were identified on the most heavily deformed side of some of the explosively deformed metal fragments,suggesting they came from outside the *** findings supported early suspicions that Malaysia Airlines flight 17 was struck by a Buk SA-11 missile.

Several gentamicin bulk samples from different origins were investigated using an LC/MS *** equipped with ion trap MS with positive ionization was performed on a Capcell Pak C18(AQ) column with the mobile phase containing 50 mM trifluoroacetic(TFA) and *** present in batches of gentamicin bulk samples were elucidated and compared according to their fragmentation *** total seventeen impurities present in samples,five impurities were not elucidated and two compounds were identified *** was observed that the impurity profiles were different in samples from different origins which indicate necessity in the quality control of gentamicin.

In this paper,camera recognition with the use of deep learning technique is *** identify the various cameras,their characteristic photo-response non-uniformity(PRNU)noise pattern was *** forensic science,it is important,especially for child pornography cases,to link a photo or a set of photos to a specific *** learning is a sub-field of machine learning which trains the computer as a human brain to recognize similarities and differences by scanning it,in order to identify an *** innovation of this research is the use of PRNU noise patterns and a deep learning technique in order to achieve camera *** this paper,AlexNet was modified producing an improved training procedure with high maximum accuracy of 80%–90%.DIgITS showed to have identified correctly six cameras out of 10 with a success rate higher than 75%in the ***,many of the cameras were falsely identified indicating a fault occurring during the procedure.A possible explanation for this is that the PRNU signal is based on the quality of the sensor and the artefacts introduced during the production process of the *** manufacturers may use the same or similar imaging sensors,which could result in similar PRNU noise *** an attempt to form a database which contained different cameras of the same model as different categories,the accuracy rate was *** provided further proof of the limitations of this technique,since PRNU is stochastic in nature and should be able to distinguish between different cameras from the same ***,this study showed that current convolutional neural networks(CNNs)cannot achieve individualization with PRNU ***,the paper provided material for further research.

Attribute-based identification systems are essential for forensic investigations because they help in identifying *** item such as clothing is a visual attribute because it can usually be used to describe *** method proposed in this article aims to identify people based on the visual information derived from their *** learning is used to train the computer to classify images based on clothing *** first demonstrate clothing classification using a large scale dataset,where the proposed model performs relatively ***,we use clothing classification on a dataset containing popular logos and famous brand *** results show that the model correctly classifies most of the test images with a success rate that is higher than 70%.Finally,we evaluate clothing classification using footage from surveillance *** system performs well on this dataset,labelling 70%of the test images correctly.

Combined Analysis of Cost and Traffic grooming Policies for Hybrid Networks Under Dynamic Traffic Requests

The benefit of a two-layer hybrid IP/MPLS （multi-protocol label switching） over a wavelength division multiplexing network has been analyzed considering both the cost and different grooming policies. A detailed cost and performance analysis of hybrid networks is done for three different grooming policies. The hybrid network cost is compared with that of an opaque network for equal traffic demand and equal blocking probability of dynamic requests of label switched paths. An algorithm is given to design optimum hybrid nodes for different grooming policies to provide the desired blocking probability for a given number of dynamic connection requests. The results show that all three applied grooming policies （IP layer first, optical layer first, and one hop first） result in lower costs of the hybrid network architecture than for the opaque network. In addition, an adaptive one hop first method is given to improve the best of the applied grooming policies, which limits grooming in heavily loaded hybrid nodes to achieve load balancing. The simulation resuits show that the new policy significantly reduces the overall blocking probability.

The recent introduction of glassy carbon(gC)microstructures supported on flexible polymeric substrates has motivated the adoption of gC in a variety of implantable and wearable *** probes such as electrocorticography and penetrating shanks with gC microelectrode arrays used for neural signal recording and electrical stimulation are among the first beneficiaries of this *** the expected proliferation of these neural probes and potential clinical adoption,the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)compatibility of gC microstructures needs to be established to help validate this potential in clinical ***,we present gC microelectrodes and microstructures—fabricated through the carbon micro-electro-mechanical systems process and supported on flexible polymeric substrates—and carry out experimental measurements of induced vibrations,eddy currents,and *** induced vibration,induced voltage,and MRI experiments and finite element modeling,we compared the performances of these gC microelectrodes against those of conventional thin-film platinum(Pt)microelectrodes and established that gC microelectrodes demonstrate superior magnetic resonance compatibility over standard metal thin-film ***,we demonstrated that gC microelectrodes experienced no considerable vibration deflection amplitudes and minimal induced currents,while Pt microelectrodes had significantly larger *** also showed that because of their low magnetic susceptibility and lower conductivity,the gC microelectrodes caused almost no susceptibility shift artifacts and no eddy-current-induced artifacts compared to Pt *** together,the experimental,theoretical,and finite element modeling establish that gC microelectrodes exhibit significant MRI compatibility,hence demonstrating clear clinical advantages over current conventional thin-film materials,further opening avenues for wider adoption of gC microelectrodes in chronic clinical app

The current progress of system miniaturization relies extensively on the development of 3D machining techniques to increase the areal structure *** this work,a wafer-scale out-of-plane 3D silicon(Si)shaping technology is reported,which combines a multistep plasma etching process with corner *** multistep plasma etching procedure results in high aspect ratio structures with stacked semicircles etched deep into the sidewall and thereby introduces corners with a proper geometry for the subsequent corner *** to the geometrical contrast between the gaps and sidewall,residues are left only inside the gaps and form an inversion mask inside the *** this mask,octahedra and donuts can be etched in a repeated manner into Si over the full wafer area,which demonstrates the potential of this technology for constructing high-density 3D structures with good dimensional control in the bulk of Si wafers.

Older age, longer procedures and tandem endoscopic-ultrasound as risk factors for post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography bacteremia

BACKgROUND Clinically significant post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) bacteremia(PEB) occurs in up to 5% of cases, while antibiotic prophylaxis is recommended only when an ERCP is unlikely to achieve complete biliary drainage. However, the current recommendations may not cover all potential risk factors for *** To identify novel risk factors for PEB and evaluate appropriateness of antibiotic *** A retrospective study of 1082 ERCP procedures performed between January 2012-December 2013 in a single tertiary medical center. Data collection included: Demographic and clinical characteristics such as pre and post procedure antibiotic treatment and bacterial blood cultures. Exclusion criteria were:(1) Age ger than 14 d before ERCP;and(5) missing critical data. Stepwise Logistic Regression analysis and Decision Tree algorithms were used for prediction modeling of *** A total of 626 ERCPs performed in 434 patients were included. Mean age 66.49 ± 15.4 years and 46.5% were males. PEB prevalence was 3.7%. Antibiotic prophylaxis was administrated in 139/626(22.2%) cases but was indicated according to the guidelines only in 44/626(7%) cases. In all the PEB cases, prophylaxis was deemed not indicated. A stepwise logistic regression [receiver operating characteristic(ROC), 0.766], identified 3 variables as independent risk factors for PEB: Age at ERCP ≥ 75 years(OR, 3.780, 95%CI: 1.519-9.408, P = 0.004);Tandem EUS/ERCP with fine needle aspiration(FNA)(OR, 14.528, 95%CI: 3.571-59.095, P ger than 60 min(OR, 5.396, 95%CI: 1.86-15.656, P = 0.002).
