Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality,with cytotoxic chemotherapy still the mainstay of *** effective therapeutic agents alone,successful drug delivery is *** PDAC,the tumor microenvironment represents a physical barrier that limits in vivo drug delivery and *** this review,we highlight therapeutic targets in the tumor microenvironment,focusing on past challenges and opportunities for the *** discussed include the Hedgehog pathway,angiogenesis,hyaluronic acid,cancer-associated fibroblasts and associated cytokines,among *** the obstacles in successfully recapitulating promising lab results to practice-changing clinical results,many important lessons have been learned to improve clinical trial design within a highly engaged and motivated scientific *** collaborative efforts and the collective optimism will continue to propel the momentum forward to overcome these barriers and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Introduction: Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor in children. It is highly aggressive and has a poor prognosis. A late presentation modifies and makes difficult the management affecting the survival of children. We report the case of a large conventional osteosarcoma in a 13-year-old girl. Case Presentation: Adolescent girl admitted for painful swelling of the left shoulder with absolute functional impotence of the thoracic limb and severe anemia. The painful swelling was thought to have been caused by a minor trauma that had occurred six months previously. The patient’s general condition was poor, and she presented with a large, shiny, painful mass over the shoulder and upper 2/3 of the left arm, measuring 28 cm long by 28 cm wide and 57 cm in circumference, and a large fistulous axillary adenopathy. CT scan showed a tumour lesion of the left humerus with liver and lung metastases, raising suspicion of osteogenic osteosarcoma. The tumor was classified according to TNM staging: T2N1M1(a + b). Management was modified when uncontrolled bleeding developed. It consisted of an extended amputation of the left thoracic limb. Pathological analysis showed a high-grade conventional osteosarcoma. Quality improvement was obtained for thirty days, followed by the onset of dyspnea. The evolution was towards death at forty days post-operatively. Conclusion: Osteosarcoma is a highly aggressive cancer. Delayed treatment leads to a fatal outcome. Early diagnosis is one of the challenges to be met in order to improve survival.

Postharvest storage of many freshly picked berries affects polyphenol and sugar content. However, little is known about the impact of refrigerated and frozen storage on aronia berry composition. Therefore, the objective of this study was to characterize how storage at 4 ± 2 °C and − 20 ± 2 °C, and temperature cycles affect aronia berry polyphenols, total solid content, pH, titratable acidity, polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity, sugar content, acid content, color, and cell structure. Refrigerated storage reduced proanthocyanidins (21%), anthocyanins (36%), and total phenols (21%) after 12 weeks. Frozen storage increased polyphenols in the first 6 mo. of frozen storage but then decreased polyphenols at mo. 8 to levels similar to initial values. Frozen temperature cycling reduced anthocyanins 18% but did not affect total phenols or proanthocyanidins. scanning electron microscopy analysis indicated temperature cycling induced cell damage, shrinking, and fusion. This disruption led to the release of anthocyanins inside the berry tissue. PPO activity did not significantly correlate with the decrease in polyphenol content during storage. °Brix did not significantly change during refrigeration and frozen storage but did during the 12th temperature cycle. Aronia berries’ pH and titratable acidity were affected more by refrigeration than frozen and temperature storage. The pH increased by 4% during refrigeration, and titratable acidity decreased by 17% at 12 weeks. In conclusion, refrigerated storage results in a modest reduction of aronia berry polyphenols, but absolute extractable polyphenols are stable for up to 8 months of frozen storage.

Background Prior studies report conflicting evidence on the association between packed red blood cell(PRBC)transfu-sions and necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC),especially in early weeks of life where transfusions are frequent and spontaneous intestinal perforation can mimic *** primary objective of this study was to evaluate the association between PRBC transfusions and NEC after day of life(DOL)14 in very premature *** A retrospective cohort analysis of very premature neonates was conducted to investigate association between PRBC transfusions and NEC after DOL *** endpoints were PRBC transfusions after DOL 14 until the date of NEC diagnosis,discharge,or *** ranked-sum and Fisher's exact tests,Cox proportional hazards regression,and Kaplan-Meier curves were used to analyze *** Of 549 premature neonates,186(34%)received transfusions after DOL 14 and nine(2%)developed NEC(median DOL=38;interquartile range=32-46).Of the nine with NEC after DOL 14,all were previously transfused(Psis of patients from DOL 10 onward included five additional patients who developed NEC between DOL 10 and DOL 14,and the hazard of NEC increased by a factor of nearly six after PRBC transfusion(hazard ratio=5.76,95%confidence interval=1.02-32.7;P=0.048).Conclusions Transfusions were strongly associated with NEC after DOL *** studies are needed to determine if restrictive transfusion practices can decrease incidence of NEC after DOL 14.

Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) are widely grown in Cameroon and play a key role in the fight against food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty. However, its cultivation encounters problems due to abiotic and biotic stresses, which leads to the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, which cause significant damage to the environment and human health due to the presence of synthetics residues in the seeds, pods and in the leaves that are eaten. Promoting the use of natural products is becoming a necessity for organic and eco-responsible agriculture that limits contamination problems and improves people’s purchasing power. This study aims to assess the effect of biostimulants based on natural products on the growth and nutritional value of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Bean seedlings from white variety (MEX-142) and red variety (DOR-701) were treated every seven days in the field from their pre-emergence, emergence and growth to their maturation under a randomized block experimental design. six treatments and three repetitions with the biostimulants based on natural products and controls were thus performed and the agromorphological parameters were measured. After 120 days, the contents of growth biomarkers and defense-related enzymes were evaluated in leaves, while the contents of macromolecules, minerals and antinutrients were evaluated in seeds. These biostimulants significantly increased (P P s including oxalates, phytates, tannins and saponins in seeds compared to controls (T+ and T−). Treatment with biostimulants, in particular Bs4, improves the performance of bean plants in the field as well as the biofortification of seeds regardless of the variety.

Objective: To explore the difference in rates and reasons for disclosure of either conventional or complementary medicine(CM) to healthcare practitioners between people living with sleep disorders(sDs) and those without ***: A cross-sectional survey(N = 2019 adults) that measured sociodemographic characteristics,health status, health service utilisation, health literacy and health communication(medicine disclosure)of a representative sample of Australians was conducted. Data from participants reporting an sD(n = 265)were compared to those not reporting an sD to assess measures of health communication and disclosure about medicine ***: Overall, rates of medicine disclosure to both conventional and CM practitioners were high, in respondents with(70%) and without an sD(57%). Those reporting an sD had higher expectations of their conventional health practitioner’s knowledge of CM, associated clinical decision-making skills, and approval of CM use, and held a higher degree of concern about drug interactions(P sons cited for disclosing CM use to conventional health practitioners and conventional medicine use to CM practitioners were “I want them to fully understand my health status” and“I was concerned about drug interactions with the CMs used.”Conclusion: The high rate of medicine use disclosure by people with sDs is driven by an intention to inform their healthcare practitioner about their health status and concerns about potential medicine interactions. Therefore, research about the expectations that people with an sD have of their conventional healthcare practitioners’ knowledge of CM and CM-drug interactions requires further ***, further examination of CM practitioner’s conventional medicine knowledge is encouraged.
