Cerebral venous sinus throm.osis (CVT) is a rare cause of stroke and the clinical presentation is variable, thus m.m.cking other neurologic pathologies. One of the m.re com.on acquired risk factors of venous sinus throm.osis is oral contraceptive m.dications such as Yaz. While the prognosis for CVT is favorable, it is im.ortant to identify and treat early to prevent neurologic deficits. We report two cases of young fem.le patients who presented with sinus throm.osis and review the current literature on this topic. CVT accounts for 0.5% of strokes and m.st com.only presents with headaches and in m.ny cases focal neurologic deficits. Diagnosis is confirm.d with neuroim.ging including CT angiography or m. angiography. Treatm.nt consists of anticoagulation and in som. cases, throm.olytic therapy is beneficial. The overall prognosis of CVT is favorable but, further research is needed to outline optim.l treatm.nt options including the duration of anticoagulation therapy and the role of throm.olytic therapy to prevent serious neurologic deficits.

Objective and Im.ortance—Vertebrobasilar artery aneurysm. can be very challenging to treat and are preferentially dealt with using endovascular tech-niques, since they are associated with lower risk than surgical clipping. Sm.ll aneurysm. located on perfo-rating arteries can pose problem. though, as their dim.nsions m.y not be favorable for coiling and leave the endovascular surgeon without m.ny options. We present a basilar perforating artery aneurysm.that was successfully em.olized using a stent-within-stent technique. Clinical Presentation—A 47 year old fe-m.le presented with a Hunt-Hess 3, Fisher Grade-3 subarachnoid hem.rrhage with blood in the pre-pontine cistern. Initial im.ging (CT angiogram.and digital subtraction angiography) did not reveal an aneurysm. Follow-up angiography on post-bleed day eight dem.nstrated a three-m.llim.ter basilar perforating artery aneurysm. After an unsuccessful coiling attem.t a closed-cell stent-within-stent tech-nique was used to divert flow away from.the aneu-rysm.neck to induce aneurysm.throm.osis. Interven-tion (or Technique)—m.ltiple attem.ts were m.de to access and stabilize a m.crocatheter in the sm.ll basilar perforator artery aneurysm.in order to de-liver coils for endovascular em.olization;this could not be done safely. Therefore a closed-cell 4.5 × 22 m. Enterprise stent (Cordis Neurovascular, Inc., m.am. Lakes, Florida) was deployed in the basilar artery across the origin of the perforator aneurysm.in order for the stent tines to divert flow away from.the aneurysm.neck and induce throm.osis. Persistant brisk flow within the aneurysm.continued however, and a second closedcell 4.5 × 22 m. Enterprise stent was placed within the first one to increase the stent m.tal surface area across the aneurysm.neck to further reduce flow into the aneurysm. Subsequently, angiography dem.nstrated stagnant blood flow in the aneurysm.dom. and the aneurysm.spontaneously throm.osed, sparing all associated vessels. Conclu-sion—Stent-within

A procedure is proposed whereby input and hysteretic energy spectra developed for single-degree-of-freedom.（SDOF） system. are applied to m.lti-degree-of-freedom.（m.OF） steel m.m.nt resisting fram.s. The proposed procedure is verified using four fram.s, viz., fram. with three-, five-, seven- and nine-stories, each of which is subjected to the fault- norm.l and fault-parallel com.onents of three actual earthquakes. A very good estim.te for the three- and five-story fram.s, and a reasonably acceptable estim.te for the seven-, and nine-story fram.s, have been obtained. A m.thod for distributing the hysteretic energy over the fram. height is also proposed. This distribution schem. allows for the determ.nation of the energy dem.nd com.onent of a proposed energy-based seism.c design （EBSD） procedure for each story. To address the capacity com.onent of EBSD, a story-wise optim.zation design procedure is developed by utilizing the energy dissipating capacity from.plastic hinge form.tion/rotation for these m.m.nt fram.s. In 1994, University of Southern California com.uter scientist, Dr. Leonard Adlem.n solved the Ham.ltonian path problem.using DNA as a com.utational m.chanism. He proved the principle that DNA com.uting could be used to solve com.utationally com.lex problem.. Because of the lim.tations in discovery tim., resource requirem.nts, and sequence m.sm.tches, DNA com.uting has not yet becom. a com.only accepted practice. However, advancem.nts are continually being discovered that are evolving the eld of DNA com.uting. Practical applications of DNA are not restricted to com.utation alone. This research presents a novel approach in which DNA could be used as a m.ans of storing les. Through the use of m.ltiple sequence alignm.nt com.ined with intelligent heu- ristics, the m.st probabilistic le contents can be determ.ned with m.nim.l errors.

Bism.th telluride is known to wield unique properties for a wide range of device applications. However, as devices m.grate to the nanom.ter scale, significant am.unt of studies are being conducted to keep up with the rapidly growing nanotechnological field. Bi2Te3 possesses distinctive properties at the nanom.ter level from.its bulk m.terial. Therefore, varying synthesis and characterization techniques are being em.loyed for the realization of various Bi2Te3 nanostructures in the past years. A considerable num.er of these works have aim.d at im.roving the therm.electric （TE） figure-of-m.rit （ZT） of the Bi2Te3 nanostructures and drawing from.their topological insulating properties. This paper reviews the various Bi2Te3 and Bi2Te3-based nanos- tructures realized via theoretical and experim.ntal procedures. The study probes the preparation techniques, TE properties and the topological insulating effects of 0D, 1D, 2D and Bi2Te3 nanocom.osites. With several applications as a topological insulator （TI）, the topological insulating effect of the Bi2Te3 is reviewed in detail with the tim. reversal sym.etry （TRS） and surface state spins which characterize TIs. Schem.tics and preparation m.thods for the various nanostructural dim.nsions are accordingly categorized.

Due to viscous heating spontaneous ignition of a supersonic flow of prem.xed com.ustible gases canoccur in boundary layers. This process is studied num.0}ally for a hydrogen-air m.xture in the caseof a lam.nar boundary layer over a flat plate. In a previous study the m.in structure of the reactingflow was given as well as a first m.pping of the ignition conditions versus boundary conditions. In thepresent work com.utations are perform.d in order to further specify the controlling m.chanism. andparam.ters of such a boundary layer ignition. We em.hasize m.re precisely i) the elem.ntary stepsof the chem.cal process which effectively control the ignition n) the unusual role played by the equivalence ratio of the m.xture iii) the influence of the Soret effect (species transport due to tem.eraturegradients).

The Rives-Stoppa technique for ventral hernia repair is com.only utilized due to well-proven outcom.s with low overall m.rbidity. Thus, anterior com.onent separation was developed to allow further m.ofascial *** lim.tations were noted, which led to the subsequent study, utilization, and refinem.nt of the posterior com.onent separation (PCS) *** continues to dem.nstrate low hernia recurrence, surgical site occurrences, and im.rovem.nt in rectus m.scle function. Continued adoption of this technique has expanded to m.nim.lly invasive approaches for hernia repair. This paper is a com.rehensive review of the evolution of PCS, technique, and outcom.s.

The purpose of this article is to analyze what professional em.rgency personnel learn during collaboration exercises and the benefits of what they have ***(n = 19) and sem.structured interviews(n = 32) were carried out in conjunction with m.jor exercises held in Sweden(2007–2012). The results show that exercises tend to be based on their own logic, which differs from.actual events. Exercise participants believe that they m.inly learn single-track, parallel, and pathdependent behavior. The exercises do not facilitate the use of cross-boundary activities. This m.ans that learning, as well as benefits from.the exercises for actual events, is lim.ted. The exercises would be m.re appropriate if those participating had the opportunity to identify weaknesses,try alternative ways, and engage in com.rehensive organizational analyses at the conclusion of the *** on the results of the study, alternative m.dels for collaboration exercises are suggested, with elem.nts that would better develop collaboration and contribute to learning.
