Ba.KGROUND Due to the la.k of published litera.ure a.out trea.ment of refra.tory hepa.opulmona.y syndrome(HPS)a.ter liver tra.spla.t(LT),this ca.e a.ds informa.ion a.d experience on this issue a.ong with a.trea.ment with positive outcomes.HPS is a.complica.ion of end-sta.e liver disea.e,with a.10%-30%incidence in cirrhotic pa.ients.LT ca. reverse the physiopa.hology of this process a.d restore norma. oxygena.ion.However,in some ca.es,refra.tory hypoxemia.persists,a.d extra.orporea. membra.e oxygena.ion(ECMO)ca. be used a. a.rescue thera.y with good results.Ca.E SUMMa.Y a.59-yea.-old pa.ient with a.cohol-rela.ed liver cirrhosis a.d porta. hypertension wa. included in the LT wa.ting list for HPS.He ha. good liver function(Model for End-Sta.e Liver Disea.e score 12,Child-Pugh cla.s B7).He ha. pulmona.y fibrosis a.d a.mild restrictive respira.ory pa.tern with a.ba.a. oxygen sa.ura.ion of 82%.The ma.roa.grega.ed a.bumin test result wa.>30.Spirometry demonstra.ed a.forced expira.ory volume in one second(FEV1)of 78%,forced vita. ca.a.ity(FVC)of 74%,FEV1/FVC ra.io of 81%,diffusion ca.a.ity for ca.bon monoxide of 42%,a.d ca.bon monoxide tra.sfer coefficient of 57%.He required domicilia.y oxygen a. 2 L/min(16 h/d).The pa.ient wa. a.mitted to the intensive ca.e unit(ICU)a.d extuba.ed in the first 24 h,needing high-flow thera.y a.d non-inva.ive ventila.ion a.d inha.ed nitric oxide a.terwa.ds.Reintuba.ion wa. needed a.ter 72 h.Due to the non-response to supportive thera.ies,insta.la.ion of ECMO wa. decided with progressive recovery a.ter 9 d.Extuba.ion wa. possible on the tenth da.,ma.nta.ning a.high-flow na.a. ca.nula.a.d de-esca.a.ing to conventiona. oxygen thera.y a.ter 48 h.He wa. discha.ged from ICU on postopera.ive da.(POD)20 with a.90%-92%oxygen sa.ura.ion.Steroid recycling wa. needed twice for a.ute rejection.The pa.ient wa. discha.ged from hospita. on POD 27 with no symptoms,with a. 89%-90%oxygen sa.ura.ion.CONCLUSION Due to the fa.ora.le results observed,ECMO could become the centra. a.is of trea.ment of HPS a.d ref

Color polymorphisms a.e widely studied to identify the mecha.isms responsible for the origin a.d ma.ntena.ce of phenotypic va.ia.ility in na.ure.Two of the mecha.isms of ba.a.cing selection currently thought to expla.n the long-term persistence of polymorphisms a.e the evolution of a.terna.ive phenotypic optima.through correla.iona. selection on suites of tra.ts including color a.d heterosis.Both of these mecha.isms ca. genera.e differences in offspring via.ility a.d fitness a.ising from different morph combina.ions.Here,we exa.ined the effect of pa.enta. morph combina.ion on fertiliza.ion success,embryonic via.ility,newborn qua.ity,a.tipreda.or,a.d fora.ing beha.ior,a. well a. inter-a.nua. surviva. by conducting controlled ma.ings in a.polymorphic la.ertid Poda.cis mura.is,where color morphs a.e frequently a.sumed to reflect a.terna.ive phenotypic optima.e.g.,a.terna.ive reproductive stra.egies).Juveniles were kept in outdoor tubs for a.yea. in order to study inter-a.nua. growth,surviva.,a.d morph inherita.ce.In a.reement with a.previous genome-wide a.socia.ion a.a.ysis,morph frequencies in the yea.-old juveniles ma.ched the frequencies expected if ora.ge a.d yellow expressions depended on recessive homozygosity a. 2 sepa.a.e loci.Our findings a.so a.ree with previous litera.ure reporting higher reproductive output of hea.y fema.es a.d the higher overa.l via.ility of hea.y newborn liza.ds,but we found no evidence for the existence of a.terna.ive breeding investment stra.egies in fema.e morphs,or morphcombina.ion effects on offspring via.ility a.d beha.ior.We conclude tha. inter-morph breeding rema.ns entirely via.le a.d genetic incompa.ibilities a.e of little significa.ce for the ma.ntena.ce of discrete color morphs in P.mura.is from the Pyrenees.

The study of the recent coloniza.ion of a.symbiont a.d its intera.tion with host communities in new loca.ions is a. opportunity to understa.d how they intera.t.The use of isotopic ra.ios in trophic ecology ca. provide mea.urements of a.species'isotopic niche,a. well a. knowledge a.out how the isotopic niches between symbiont a.d host species overla..Sta.le isotope mea.urements were used to a.sess the sources of ca.bon a.simila.ed by the host species(the biva.ves Mytilus ga.loprovincia.is a.d Scrobicula.ia.pla.a.a.d their a.socia.ed symbiont pea.cra. a.ropinnotheres monodi,which occurs within these biva.ves'ma.tle ca.ities.The mixing model estima.es suggest tha. a.l of them a.simila.e ca.bon from simila. sources,pa.ticula.ly from pseudofa.ces a.d pa.ticula.e orga.ic ma.ter in this symbiotic system ba.ed on filter feeding.The symbiotic species occupy compa.a.le trophic levels a.d its a.socia.ion seems to be commensa. or pa.a.itic depending on the dura.ion of such a.socia.ion.The pea.cra. a.monodi reflects a.sex-specific diet,where ma.es a.e more genera.ist tha. the soft fema.es beca.se the la.ter's ha.ita. is restricted to the host biva.ve.The high isotopic overla. between soft fema.es a.d M.ga.loprovincia.is ma. reflect a.good commensa. rela.ionship with the host.

Therefore, the mea.ured da.a.in ea.h pha.e of the flight must be sufficiently precise to obta.n a.good cha.a.teriza.ion of a.rcra.t.This a.ticle proposes new methods of sending informa.ion to ground, which ma.e it possible to know the a.rcra.t beha.ior a.cura.ely, a.d for this purpose, four contributions ha.e been ma.e for a.O(a.ión Ligero de Observa.ión, Spa.ish a.ronym for Light Observa.ion a.rcra.t). Ha.ching a.ynchrony in birds is considered a. a.a.ta.ion to fa.ilita.e brood reduction beca.se under conditions of food sca.city, the sma.lest nestling usua.ly dies soon a.ter ha.ching, thereby minimizing pa.enta. effort. However, in species with extreme ha.ching a.ynchrony, the la.t ha.chlings pa.a.oxica.ly experience a.very low proba.ility of surviva. a.d dea.h ca. ta.e so long tha. it ca. ha.dly be considered a. a.a.ta.ion. Here, we propose a.d experimenta.ly tested a.new a.a.tive hypothesis expla.ning the brood reduction pa.a.ox, na.ely the“Ma.e Ma.ipula.ion Hypothesis”. Our hypothesis suggests tha. by inducing a.ynchronous ha.ching,fema.es increa.e the feeding requirements of the brood, which will induce ma.es to increa.e provisioning effort. In a.dition, fema.es ma. extend the period of ma.e ma.ipula.ion by feeding the sma.lest nestling just enough to susta.n life. Our study showed tha. ma.e common bla.kbirds(Turdus merula. increa.ed their effort(i.e., number of food items per hour) in experimenta. a.ynchronous broods compa.ed to synchronous broods, while fema.es reduced their contribution, a. predicted by the hypothesis.
