Melicope madagascariensis(Rutaceae)is an endemic plant species of Madagascar that was first classified as a member of the genus Euodia J.R.&***(Rutaceae)under the scientific name Euodia madagascariensis *** on morphological characteristics,Thomas Gordon Hartley taxonomically revised *** baker to be ***(baker)*** studies have long been used to help the identification and confirmation of taxonomical classification of plant species and *** to find more evidences to support the taxonomical revision performed on ***,we carried out phytochemical investigation of two samples of the *** of the ethanol extracts prepared from two stem bark samples of ***(baker)*** led to the isolation of seven known furoquinoline alkaloids 1–7 and two known methoxyflavones 8 and *** presence of furoquinoline alkaloids and methoxyflavones in the title species is in agreement with its taxonomic transfer from Euodia to *** evaluation of the isolated compounds showed that 6-methoxy-7-hydroxydictamnine(heliparvifoline,3)showed weak antimalarial activity(IC_(50)=35μM)against the chloroquine-resistant strain Dd2 of Plasmodium ***(4)displayed moderate cytotoxicity with IC_(50)value of 1.5 lM against HT-29 colon cancer cell line whereas 3,5-dihydroxy-30,40,7-trimethoxyflavone(9)was weakly active in the same assay(IC_(50)=13.9μM).

Clones identification of Sequoia sempervirens (D. Don) Endl. in Chile by using PCR-RAPDs technique

A protocol of polymerase chain reaction-random amplified polymorphic DNAs (PCR-RAPDs) was established to analyse the gene diversity and genotype identification for clones of Sequoia sempervirens (D. Don) Endl. in Chile. Ten (out of 34) clones from introduction trial located in Voipir-Villarrica, Chile, were studied. The PCR-RAPDs technique and a modified hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAb) protocol were used for genomic DNA extraction. The PCR tests were carried out employing 10-mer random primers. The amplification products were detected by electrophoresis in agarose gels. Forty nine polymorphic bands were obtained with the selected primers (bG04, bF07, bF12, bF13, and bF14) and were ordered according to their molecular size. The genetic similarity between samples was calculated by the Jaccard index and a dendrogram was con- structed using a cluster analysis of unweighted pair group method using arithmetic averages (UPGMA). Of the primers tested, 5 (out of 60) RAPD primers were selected for their reproducibility and high polymorphism. A total of 49 polymorphic RAPD bands were detected out of 252 bands. The genetic similarity analysis demonstrates an extensive genetic variability between the tested clones and the dendrogram depicts the genetic relationships among the clones, suggesting a geographic relationship. The results indicate that the RAPD markers permitted the identification of the assayed clones, although they are derived from the same geo- graphic origin.

Depression is a common,recurrent mental disorder and one of the leading causes of disability and global burden of disease *** to 15%-40%of cases do not respond to diverse pharmacological treatments and,thus,can be defined as treatment-resistant depression(TRD).The development of biomarkers predictive of drug response could guide us towards personalized and earlier *** evidence points to the involvement of the glutamatergic system in the pathogenesis of ***,the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor(NMDAR)andα-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor(AMPAR),which are targeted by ketamine and esketamine,are proposed as promising pathways.A literature search was performed to identify studies on the genetics of the glutamatergic system in depression,focused on variables related to NMDARs and *** review highlights GRIN2b,which encodes the NR2b subunit of NMDAR,as a candidate gene in the pathogenesis of *** addition,several studies have associated genes encoding AMPAR subunits with symptomatic severity and suicidal *** genes encoding glutamatergic receptors could,therefore,be candidate genes for understanding the etiopathogenesis of TRD,as well as for understanding the pharmacodynamic mechanisms and response to ketamine and esketamine treatment.

Colorectal cancer screening in an academic center compared to the national average

Deciphering how T-cell antigen receptor signals are modulated by coinhibitors is a fundamental goal in immunology and of considerable clinical interest because blocking coinhibitory signals via therapeutic antibodies have become a standard cancer immunotherapeutic *** of the attention devoted to T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-3(TIM3;also known as HAVCR2 or CD366)molecules stems from their expression on exhausted T cells in settings of chronic viral infection and ***,T cells expressing high levels of both PD-1 and TIM3 coinhibitors appear more dysfunctional than those expressing PD-1 *** therapies intending to block both PD-1 and TIM3 are thus actively being explored in the cancer treatment *** interaction with Galectin-9(GAL-9)and carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1(CEACAM-1),the tyrosines found in the TIM3 cytoplasmic tail are phosphorylated.1 because these conserved tyrosines do not form a recognizable inhibitory signaling motif,the mechanism by which TIM3 transmits inhibitory signals has not been ***,TIM3 also has costimulatory activity in T cells.2,3 Published biochemical studies attempting to unveil the mode of action of TIM3 have relied on approaches addressing one candidate effector at a time with limited quantitative insight,and most used transformed *** mice expressing an affinity Twin-Strep-tag(OST)at the TIM3-protein C-terminus(TIM3OST mice)(Figs.1a and S1a)and affinity purification coupled with mass spectrometry(AP-MS),we herein defined the composition and dynamics of the signaling protein complex(signalosome)used by TIM3 in primary effector T *** results provide a more complete model of TIM3 signaling and explain its paradoxical coinhibitory and costimulatory functions.

AIM:To compare the site,age and gender of cases of colorectal cancer(CRC) and polyps in a single referral center in Rome,Italy,during two ***:CRC data were collected from surgery/pathology registers,and polyp data from colonoscopy *** who met the criteria for familial adenomatous polyposis,hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease were excluded from the *** of patients between the two groups(cancers and polyps) was carefully ***χ 2 statistical test and a regression analysis were ***:Data from a total of 768 patients(352 and 416 patients,respectively,in periods A and b) who underwent surgery for cancer were *** the same time periods,a total of 1693 polyps were analyzed from 978 patients with complete colonoscopies(428 polyps from 273 patients during period A and 1265 polyps from 705 patients during period b).A proximal shift in cancer occurred during the latter years for both sexes,but particularly in *** cancer increased > 3-fold in period b compared to period A in males [odds ratio(OR) 3.31,95%CI:2.00-5.47;P bserved for polyps,particularly in males(OR 1.87,95%CI:1.23-2.87;P but also in females(OR 1.62,95%CI:0.96-2.73;P < 0.07).CONCLUSION:The prevalence of proximal proliferative colonic lesions seems to have increased over the last decade,particularly in males.

Three-dimensional acoustic propagation model for shallow waters based on an indirect boundary element method

This work has a two-fold *** the one hand,the theoretical formulation of a three-dimensional(3D)acoustic propagation model for shallow waters with a constant sound speed is presented,based on the boundary element method(bEM),which uses a half-space Green function instead of the more conventional free-space Green *** the other hand,a numerical implementation is illustrated to explore the formulation in simple idealized cases,controlled by a few parameters,which provides necessary tests for the accuracy and performance of the *** half-space Green's function,which has been previously used in scattering and diffraction,adds terms to the usual expressions of the integral operators without altering their continuity *** against the wavenumber integration solution of the Pekeris waveguide suggest that the model allows an adequate prediction for the acoustic ***,numerical experiments in relation to the necessary mesh size for the description of the water-marine sediment interface lead to the conclusion that a transmission loss prediction with acceptable accuracy can be obtained with the use of a limited mesh around the desired evaluation region.

Analysis of Solar Distillers for Obtaining bio-fuel

In this paper, a theoretical-economic study was carried out based on the operation and construction of different types of equipments that use solar energy to carry out the distillation process. The conclusions drawn from the analysis aimed to determine what is necessary for the optimal design of an experimental distillation module that allows bioethanol with specific features to be obtained, for the area of Tehuantepec in Mexico. This study took the experiments carried out by various authors and extracted information relevant to the selection of the parameters and variables of the proposed distiller according to their efficiency and construction costs.

Incinerability Index of Municipal Solid Waste and Its Correlation with Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Oxides Emissions

The main objective of this study was to establish optimal incineration conditions through the analysis of pollutant formation mechanisms involved in the combustion process of a retort incinerator. Calorific values of several types of municipal solid wastes were determined and related to specific incinerability indexes. The incinerability testing concerning this study was conducted on residues with an incinerability index （II） of 123. The samples were tested under different conditions： with and without chamber preheating, varying the percentage of inlet air （25, 50 and 75% of the system capacity）, measuring the temperatures of the primary and secondary chambers, and gauging the CO and NO stack emissions with an electrochemical cell. With comparative purposes in mind, samples with indexes ofI = 112, I = 123, I = 130 and I = 132 were also tested to assess the influence of the II on pollutant emissions.

Generating a 3D Tool to Represent Graphically the Damages of Santa barbara Castle （Alicante）

Santa barbara castle is one of the largest fortified complexes of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Set in a strategic enclave in the city of Alicante. It has been transformed over the centuries since its origin, so that nowadays includes numerous buildings inside its area. The fortified area contains several lines bastioned and some medieval and Muslim fronts, composed of quadrangular towers. During the years 2007 and 2008, a research team composed of members from the University of Alicante, the University of burgos and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia has developed a study on the conservation status of the Castle. This study has been funded through research grants from thc Genemlitat Valenciana （Project GV reference 2007/150）, and an agreement with Manuel PeIAez Foundation. We have generated a 3D object of the whole, composed by clouds of millions points, through laser-scanner in order to manage the analysis of the architectural element＇s conservation status that make up the huge fortified complex. This tool reduced greatly the architectural survey work, providing an extremely accurate. They were developed through the program Pointools View, generating JPEG files, which were imported from Autocad. Later we undertook a comprehensive making of photos -- some 7,000 photographs, which we linked to the 3D object. Thus we have immediate access to the photographs of each element of the Castle from the program Pointools View with a simple click on each 3D element. The graphic representation of damages was done on screen with programs Pointools View and Autocad open simultaneously. This technique has meant better accuracy in the study of conservation status and has greatly reduced the time commitment.
