Subperiosteal implants are generally used in the severely resorbed areas, and although dwindling in use, they have shown to be successful treatment options for the edentulous dental patients. We report a case of maxillary subperiosteal implantitis that caused sinusitis. A 59-year-old man was referred to our clinic in March 2003 with a chief complaint of pain and swelling in the bilateral upper molar region. He received a surgical operation for maxillary subperiosteal implant at another dental clinic in April 2001. CT scans demonstrated that the radiopacity of the right maxillary sinus extended to the ethmoid and frontal sinuses. Extensive surgical debridement was performed. The radiopacity of the right maxillary sinus in CT almost disappeared in a month. Two months later, the occlusal function was recovered using a new maxillary complete denture. The patient has had no symptoms and no occlusal disturbance by the denture for more than nine years.

BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(***)eradication treatment for primary gastric mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue(MALT)lymphoma has already been ***,t(11;18)(q21;q21)/API2-MALT1 translocation-positive lesions are a type of primary gastric MALT lymphoma in which a response to eradication treatment is difficult to *** addition,trisomy 18 may be associated with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)transformation of gastric MALT *** SUMMARY A 66-year-old man was diagnosed with MALT lymphoma in the ascending colon by colonoscopy and *** years later,esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed chronic atrophic gastritis that was positive for ***,and eradication treatment was *** years and nine months later(at the age of 70),a new ulcerative lesion suggestive of MALT lymphoma appeared in the gastric body,and six months later,a similar lesion was also found in the *** year later(4 years and 3 months after *** eradication),at the age of 72,the lesion in the gastric body had become deeper and had propagated.A biopsy revealed a pathological diagnosis of *** MALT lymphoma lesions in the ascending colon and DLBCL lesions in the stomach were positive for the t(11;18)(q21;q21)/API2-MALT1 translocation,and trisomy 18q21 was also *** 6 courses of R-CHOP(rituximab,cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine and prednisone)chemotherapy,all of the above lesions disappeared[complete remission(CR)],and CR has been maintained for more than 3 *** addition,both the colonic and gastric lesions were proven to have the same *** Because the patient had a MALT1 translocation with trisomy 18q21,it was thought that this gastric MALT lymphoma developed independently of *** infection and progressed.

This study conducts a comprehensive comparative analysis of machine learning models for customer churn prediction, focusing on the U.S. context. The research evaluates the performance of logistic regression, random forest, and neural networks using industry-specific datasets, considering the economic impact and practical implications of the findings. The exploratory data analysis reveals unique patterns and trends in the U.S. banking and finance industry, such as the age distribution of customers and the prevalence of dormant accounts. The study incorporates macroeconomic factors to capture the potential influence of external conditions on customer churn behavior. This paper proposes a blockchain-based system as a secure, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to SWIFT for cross-border remittances. The current SWIFT system faces challenges, including slow settlement times, high transaction costs, and vulnerability to fraud. Leveraging blockchain technology’s decentralized, transparent, and immutable nature, the proposed system aims to address these limitations. Key features include modular architecture, implementation of microservices, and advanced cryptographic protocols. The system incorporates Proof of Stake consensus with BLS signatures, smart contract execution with dynamic pricing, and a decentralized oracle network for currency conversion. A sophisticated risk-based authentication system utilizes Bayesian networks and machine learning for enhanced security. Mathematical models are presented for critical components, including transaction validation, currency conversion, and regulatory compliance. Simulations demonstrate potential improvements in transaction speed and costs. However, challenges such as regulatory hurdles, user adoption, scalability, and integration with legacy systems must be addressed. The paper provides a comparative analysis between the proposed blockchain system and SWIFT, highlighting advantages in transaction speed, costs, and security. Mitigation strategies are proposed for key challenges. Recommendations are made for further research into scaling solutions, regulatory frameworks, and user-centric designs. The adoption of blockchain-based remittances could significantly impact the financial sector, potentially disrupting traditional models and promoting financial inclusion in underserved markets. However, successful implementation will require collaboration between blockchain innovators, financial institutions, and regulators to create an enabling environment for this transformative system.

Superparasitism in solitary parasitoids results in fatal competition between the immature parasitoids, and consequently only one individual can emerge. In the semisoli- tary ovicidal parasitoid Echthrodelphaxfairchildii （Hymenoptera： Dryinidae）, 2 adults can emerge under superparasitism with a short interval （〈24 h） between the first and second ovipositions. We determined the female parasitoid＇s behavioral responses under self- and conspecific superparasitism bouts with first-to-second oviposition intervals of 〈2 h. The self- and conspecific superparasitizing frequencies increased up to an oviposition interval of 0.75 h, with the former remaining lower than the latter, particularly for oviposition intervals of _〈0.25 h, suggesting the existence of self-/conspecific discrimination. The superparasitizing frequency plateaued for oviposition intervals of _〉0.75 h, with no dif- ference between self- and conspecific superparasitism. The ovicidal-probing frequency did not differ under self- and conspecific superparasitism, and was usually 〈20%. The females exhibited no preference for the oviposition side （i.e., ovipositing on the side with or without the first progeny） and almost always laid female eggs for any oviposition in- terval under self- and conspecific superparasitism. The sex ratio was not affected by the type of superparasitism, oviposition sides, or the occurrence of ovicidal probing. These observed results about the oviposition side, ovicidal probing, and sex ratios differed from the predictions obtained assuming that the females behave optimally. Possible reasons for the discrepancies are discussed： likely candidates include the high cost of selecting oviposition sides and ovicidal probing, and, for the sex ratio, the low frequency of encountering suitable hosts before superparasitism bouts.

We assessed the adaptiveness of refraining from infanticidal probing at the third attack under triple parasitism in the parasitoid Echthrodelphaxfairchildii Perkins, by comparing fitness returns from the third attack with and without probing. Fitness returns were assessed in terms of the survival rate, mean developmental time, and mean adult head width of the progenies. Not probing was maladaptive under triple parasitism with oviposition intervals of 1/24 and 24/24 hours （where the numbers before and after the slash refer to the first-to-second and second-to-third oviposition intervals, respectively）, although no significant difference was detected in fitness returns for oviposition intervals of 24/1 hours. We suggest that the cost of probing （especially the decrease in the chance of future ovipositions） is a reason for the seemingly maladaptive absence of probing.

Microstructure evolution, dynamic recrystallization, high temperature oxidation and hot ductility of 1.4 % Si non-oriented electrical steel sheets were investigated to reduce edge cracking. The causes of cracking were found to be coarse as-cast microstructure, grain boundary oxidation in reheating furnace, lack of dynamic recrystallization during hot rolling and increase of temperature, resulting in reduced hot ductility in strip edge region. Countermeas- ures against the edge crack are proposed accordingly. Lowering reheating temperature and reducing holding time re- duced oxidation and decarburization. Hot charging temperature was increased to decrease reheating temperature. And using an edger can refine microstructure in strip edge region. Finally, edge heater can be added to increase edge re- gion formability by inducing dynamic reerystallization and ductility by increasing temperature.

Many studies have investigated causes of COVID-19 and explored safety measures for preventing COVID-19 ***,these studies fell short to address disparities in health status and resources among decentralized communities in the United *** this study,we utilized an advanced modeling technique to examine complex associations of county-level health factors with COVID-19 mortality for all 3141 counties in the United *** results indicated that counties with more uninsured people,more housing problems,more urbanized areas,and longer commute are more likely to have higher COVID-19 *** on the nationwide population-based data,this study also echoed prior research that used local data,and confirmed that county-level sociodemographic factors,such as more Black,Hispanic,and older subpopulations,are attributed to high risk of COVID-19 *** hope that these findings will help set up priorities on high risk communities and subpopulations in future for fighting the novel virus.
