The present research studies the relationship between place attachment and the perception of form’s visual quality in fifteen outstanding contemporary Iranian architectural cultural buildings.This study puts forward the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the quality of building form and the sense of place attachment,in the sense that creating high visual quality through enhancing the quality of building form increases citizens’initial satisfaction with and subsequent attachment to the building.High visual quality influences people’s experience of the environment and improves the quality of life.Place attachment highlights how people,on a personal level,recreate a sense of place for themselves.The present study adopts the descriptive-analytical method as its theoretical framework and the survey as the empirical methodology.Questionnaires were developed using the Likert scale and distributed among experts and ordinary citizens.Data analysis using SPSS and the adoption of descriptive-analytical statistics,correlation analysis,and regression showed the relationship among the characteristics of indicators.The results show a positive correlation between form and place attachment mediated through visual quality,and they are causal conditions for one another.In addition,only some of the buildings under study evoke the same level of place attachment.

Male and female broiler chickens differ in their growth performance,carcass part weights and nutrient requirements.The potential reasons for these differences have been explored by looking at differences in nutrient digestibility,nutrient transporter gene expression as well as gut microbiota populations between male and female birds.Studies have shown that male broilers have higher crude protein requirements compared to female broilers.The expression of monosaccharide and amino acid transporters show conflicting results as expression depends on the interactions between sex and bird age and breed as well as which tissue is sampled.Differences in microbiota populations between the genders were reported which may contribute towards performance differences,however research in this area is limited.The differences observed between the sexes contribute to increased variation in nutrition trials,and the potential to rear birds as equally mixed-sex becomes an option to reduce the variation introduced by the sex effect.Difference in rearing options obviously would only be feasible provided a quick,practical and cost-effective method of sexing birds is available,a topic that is also discussed in this review.

The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated global tourism and recovery is proceeding very slowly.For many countries,tourism served as a major economic sector,so investigating how to recover is essential.As China was the largest source of outbound travelers before the outbreak,study of the factors influencing Chinese intentions to travel overseas in the post-COVID era is revealing.In Apr.2022,among seven provinces(or cities)with the most outbound tourists from 2019 to 2021,2450 individuals responded to a questionnaire on daily mobility,tourism experiences,and the shifts due to the pandemic.Light gradient boosting machine(LightGBM),a robust ensemble learning method,was adopted to quantify and visualize the impact of explanatory factors on outbound travel intention.In addition,the Optuna mechanism and Shapley additive explanation(SHAP)instruments were employed for tuning hyperparameters and interpreting results,respectively.Findings suggest neither one-day nor multi-day tours have resumed to pre-COVID levels.Higher frequency of multi-day tours with further destinations,less car utilization in daily shopping trips,and moderate pandemic restrictions can boost the intention to travel abroad.The concerns and desires of different age groups for overseas travel need different responses.This study reveals the factors affecting Chinese outbound travel intentions and provides suggestions for the recovery of tourism in the post-COVID period.

The present study investigated whether supplementing fibre-degrading enzymes can ameliorate the severity of subclinical necrotic enteritis(NE)in broiler chickens offered wheat-or maize-based diets.A total of 1,544 mixed-sex broiler chickens were assigned to 16 experimental treatments as a 2×2×4 factorial arrangement of treatments.The factors were the following:NE challenge,yes or no;diet type,wheat-or maize-based;and enzyme supplementation,control(no enzyme),family 10 xylanase(XYN10),family 11 xylanase(XYN11)or b-mannanase(MAN).Each treatment was replicated 6 times,with 16 birds per replicate pen.A three-way challenge×diet type×enzyme interaction occurred for body weight at 21 d of age(P=0.025)and overall feed conversion ratio(P=0.001).In the non-challenged birds fed the wheat-based diet,supplementing MAN increased d 21 body weight compared to the control.In challenged birds fed the maize-based diet,supplemental XYN11 impeded body weight and overall FCR compared to the control.Birds offered the maize-based diet presented heavier relative gizzard weights at both 16 and 21 d of age(P<0.001)and reduced liveability(P=0.046)compared to those fed the wheatbased diet.Enzyme supplementation reduced ileal and jejunal digesta viscosity at 16 d of age only in birds fed the wheat-based diet(P<0.001).XYN11 increased ileal digesta viscosity in birds fed the maizebased diet,and MAN reduced it in birds fed the wheat-based diet at 21 d of age(P=0.030).Supplementing XYN11 improved ileal soluble non-starch polysaccharides(NSP)digestibility in birds fed the wheat-based diet compared to non-supplemented birds(P<0.001).Birds fed the wheat-based diet displayed a higher abundance of Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus and Enterobacteriaceae and butyric acid in the caeca at 16 d of age compared to birds fed the maize-based diet(P<0.05).In conclusion,supplemental XYN11 exacerbated the negative impact of NE on growth performance in birds fed the maizebased diet.Supplementing wheat-based diets with fibre-degrading enzymes ameliorates production l

The present study evaluated the impacts of fibre-degrading enzymes on the profiles of non-starch polysaccharides(NSP)and oligosaccharides(OS)in the ileum of broiler chickens offered wheat-or maize-based diets under subclinical necrotic enteritis(NE)challenge.A 224 factorial arrangement of treatments was used.Factors were the following:NE challenge,no or yes;diet type,wheat-or maizebased;and supplemental enzymes,control(no enzyme),family 10 xylanase(XYN10),family 11 xylanase(XYN11)or b-mannanase(MAN).Birds in the challenged group were inoculated with Eimeria on d 9 and Clostridium perfringens on d 14 and 15.A 3-way interaction(P=0.047)occurred on overall(d 0 to 16)weight gain.When NE was present,all the supplemental enzymes increased weight gain in birds fed the wheat-based diet;whereas in those fed the maize-based diet supplemental XYN10 and XYN11 decreased weight gain.When NE was absent,birds fed the wheat-based diet supplemented with XYN10 or MAN presented increased weight gain compared to non-supplemented birds,but no improvements with enzyme addition were observed in birds fed the maize-based diet.A 3-way interaction(P=0.002)was observed on insoluble NSP level in the ileum.When NE was absent,all the supplemental enzymes reduced the ileal level of insoluble NSP,regardless of diet type.In the challenged birds,supplementing XYN10 and MAN reduced insoluble NSP level in the ileum,but only in birds fed the wheat-based diet.Ileal soluble NSP level was reduced by supplemental XYN11 and MAN,but only in birds fed the wheatbased diet,resulting in a 2-way diet typeenzyme interaction(P<0.001).Ileal OS arabinose(P=0.030)level was highest in birds offered the wheat-based diet supplemented with XYN11.Collectively,supplementation of NSP-degrading enzymes to the wheat-based diet enhanced bird performance regardless of NE challenge,with XYN11 significantly increasing oligosaccharide release.However,enzyme addition did not improve growth performance in birds fed maize-based diet,with supplemental XYN10 and XYN11 impeding weig

Groundwater contamination has been on the rise in Afghanistan.It has become a major concern among the policy makers.This paper aims to propose practical options for the management of nitrate contamination in one of Afghanistan’s groundwater polluted provinces,Kabul.The management framework utilized Mann-Kendall and Sen Slope tests to detect nitrate trend and geostatistical analysis option in Arc GIS 10.5 to assess the nitrate change.To explore the impact of various management options,a number of legislative documents were reviewed.The results indicate a decline in the nitrate storage of Kabul aquifers from 108 mg/L in 2005 to 0.044 mg/L in 2010.Considering the whole period of the study,the results show that the nitrate volumes remain lower than the nitrate concentration range proposed by World Health Organization(50 mg/L).Groundwater dynamics in Kabul aquifers were influenced by nitrate derived from precipitation and nitrate input from root zones in agricultural areas.Finally,different management options for groundwater pollution from nitrate and corresponding authorities,incorporated urban,rural and agriculture,were proposed.It is expected that this study will help policy makers to better manage the nitrate storage of Kabul aquifers by implementing the proposed management options.

Propagation of Gaussian beams family through a Kerr-type left-handed metamaterial

In this paper the propagation of elegant Hermite-cosh-Gaussian, elegant Laguerre Gaussian, and Bessel Gaussian beams through a Kerr left-handed metamaterial （LHM） slab have been studied. A split-step Fourier method is used to investigate the propagation of laser beams through this media. Numerical simulation shows that Gaussian beams have different focusing behaviors in a Kerr LHM slab with positive or negative nonlinearity. Beam focusing happens in slabs with positive nonlinearity and not in slabs with negative nonlinearity; however, negative nonlinearity is required for a Kerr LHM slab to act like a lens. Additionally, the focusing properties of beams can be controlled by controlling the thickness of the slab or the input power of the incident beam. A multilayer structure is also proposed to have beam focusing by thinner slabs and passing longer distances.

A Survey of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Iran

Objective： To survey the use, capability and satisfaction of complementary and alternative medicine （CAM） in comparison with conventional medicine in Iran. Methods： In this national survey, a cross-sectional study was designed, 5,000 people were surveyed to identify predictors of Iranian traditional medicine （ITM） use compared with conventional medicine. Data were collected through a questionnaire that covered three different predictor categories： demographic information, patient＇s viewpoint, and patients＇ experiences. Results： Most of the participants preferred government owned hospitals rather than other places. Praying for one＇s own health was the most frequent and favorable ITM domain （P=0.017） based on patients＇ interests, both in low- （P=0.08） and high- level （P=0.011） educated subjects. Among the participants, 97.8% had previous conventional medicine history due to their chronic diseases Conclusions： Iranianpatients resort to ITM as a choice at the late stage of the disease. Current deficiency in integration of CAM and conventional medicine is in contrast to the increasing demand on patients＇ side. Health care organizers should be facilitating the CAM services by tuition of CAM practitioners and supporting eligible CAM centers for diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Preferential solvation of pomalidomide(PMD)was explored in dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)-dimethylformamide(DMF),DMSO-tetrahydrofuran(THF),DMSO-methanol(Me OH),DMSO-isopropanol,DMSO-water,water-DMF,water-THF,water-Me OH,and water–isopropanol binary mixed solvents at 298.15 K.Bosch-Rose model was utilized to determine the electronic transition energies(ET)and other preferential solvation parameters,describing solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions.We found thatλmaxsituation shifted with dielectric constant of the pure solvents meaningfully.According to the obtained results,ETenhanced andλmaxshifted to the lower wavelengths as the percentage of DMSO decreased in the binary mixtures,remarking the important role of DMSO for stabilizing the excited state(π*)of PMD chromophore via efficient intermolecular solute-solvent interactions.In addition,the aqueous binary systems showed an optimum point for the ETvalues as the percentage of water changed in the solutions.The local mole fraction of the solvents in the cybotactic region was also estimated to describe the specific and non-specific interactions in the systems.
