in all machining processes, tool wear is a natural phenomenon and it leads to tool failure. The growing dem.nds for high productivity of machining need use of high cutting velocity and feed rate. Such machining inherently produces high cutting temperature, which not only reduces tool life but also impairs the product quality. metal cutting fluid changes the performance of machining operations because of their lubrication, cooling and chip flushing functions, but the use of cutting fluid has become more problematic in terms of both employee health and environmental pollution. The minimization of cutting fluid also leads to economical benefits by way of saving lubricant costs and workpiece/tool/machine cleaning cycle time. The concept of minimum quantity lubrication (mQL) has been suggested since a decade ago as a means of addressing the issues of environmental intru- siveness and occupational hazards associated with the airborne cutting fluid particles on factory shop floors. This paper deals with experimental investigation on the role of mQL by vegetable oil on cutting temperature, tool wear, surface roughness and dimen- sional deviation in turning AiSi-1060 steel at industrial speed-feed combinations by uncoated carbide insert. The encouraging results include significant reduction in tool wear rate, dimensional inaccuracy and surface roughness by mQL mainly through reduction in the cutting zone temperature and favorable change in the chip-tool and work-tool interaction.

Fractal interpolation is a modern technique to fit and analyze scientific *** develop a new class of fractal interpolation functions which converge to a data generating(original)function for any choice of the scaling ***,our method offers an alternative to the existing fractal interpolation functions(FiFs).We construct a sequence of-FiFs using a suitable sequence of iterated function systems(iFSs).Without imposing any condition on the scaling vector,we establish constrained interpolation by using fractal *** particular,the constrained interpolation discussed herein includes a method to obtain fractal functions that preserve positivity inherent in the given *** existence of Cr--FiFs is *** identify suitable conditions on the associated scaling factors so that-FiFs preserve r-convexity in addition to the Cr-smoothness of original function.

This paper presents a probabilistic methodology for linear fracture mechanics analysis of cracked structures. The main focus is on probabilistic aspect related to the nature of crack in material. The methodology involves finite elem.nt analysis; sta- tistical models for uncertainty in material properties, crack size, fracture toughness and loads; and standard reliability methods for evaluating probabilistic characteristics of linear elastic fracture parameter. The uncertainty in the crack size can have a significant effect on the probability of failure, particularly when the crack size has a large coefficient of variation. numerical example is presented to show that probabilistic methodology based on monte Carlo simulation provides accurate estimates of failure prob- ability for use in linear elastic fracture mechanics.

Ti3 AL-nb-mo composites were prepared by SHS using initial powder mixtures of Ti-Al-nb-mo and their corrosion and mechanical properties were studied to develop bioand environmental materials. The composites reached 99.8% of theoretical density after the direct consolidation. The composites shows equiaxed primary a2 in a matrix of fine secondary a2 plates and ordered 82 (Bo) forming a basket weave structure. The strain rate sensitivity (m = dlnσ/dlne) at 2% strain is 0.008. Corrosion potential and corrosion rate of the composites formed by SHS were -151. 5m VSHE and 5. 72× 10^(-8)A/cm2 for Ti3 Al-10nb-1. 5mo and - 138.4m VSHE and 4. 12×10^(-8)cm2 for Ti3 Al-12nb-1.5mo in a 50% naOH-10%FeCi3 solution, respectively. Corrosion resistance decreased with niobium content in the composites and chloride content in the aqueous solution. Selective corrosion of a2 phase in a matrix occurred in the corrosion environment which suggests that the corrosion potential and rate changes are related to the niobium content and Q2 phase in a matrix.

Quantal studies of sodium 3p ← 3s photoabsorption spectra perturbed by ground lithium atoms

The pressure broadening in the far wings, where the sodium na(3 p ← 3 s) resonance line is perturbed by ground lithium Li(2 s) atoms, has been theoretically analyzed. The naLi potential–energy curves and the transition dipole moments are constructed by using a reliable ab initio data points to carry out the reduced-absorption coefficients k_r(ν, T). This quantum-mechanical investigation have dem.nstrated that the naLi profile spectra show a satellite future in the red wing at wavelength λ = 685 nm in the temperature range 4000 K–1.8 × 10~4 K. The computation could also exhibit a second satellite, in the blue wing, near the wavelength λ = 574 nm beyond 6000 K and a third peak located at λ = 490 nm which begins to appear at 1.8 × 10~4 K.

in countries like Argentina,whose economy depends heavily on crop production,the estimation of harvests is an elem.ntary *** providing objectivity,the use of remote sensing allows estimating yield in *** the time of maximum leaf area in wheat corresponds with the critical period of the crop,a good relationship is expected between the normalized Difference Vegetation index(nDVi)and *** present study was carried out in the north of Buenos Aires province,*** on the type of soil,the study area can be divided into two homogeneous subzones:a subzone with lower clay content in the southwestand a subzone with higher clay content in the *** growing seasons(2003–2011)were *** the first five years,an empirical model was calibrated and validated with field-observed wheat yields and mOD13q1 product-nDVi data,whereas in the other four years,the calibrated model was applied by means of yield maps and by comparing with official *** mOD13q1 image corresponding to Julian day 289 showed the best fit between nDVi and yield to estimate wheat yield *** yield maps,better weather conditions showedhigher yields and higher soil productivity presented a greater proportion of the area occupied by higher *** department level,an R2 value of 0.75 was found after relating the estimation of the calibrated empirical model with official *** method used allows predicting wheat yield 30 days before *** yield maps,the nDVi perceived the temporal and spatial variability in the study area.

An Extraction of the Dominant Rotor-Stator interaction modes by the Use of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD)

The Proper Orthogonal Decomposition method is applied to the instantaneous velocity field within the rotor-stator inter-row region of a high-speed high-pressure centrifugal compressor. The processed data come from experiments and numerical simulations. in comparison with a Fourier transform, the POD gives the best modal approximation for both initial fields, in terms of the energy expressed on any given number of modes to be taken into account： to reach 98% of the total energy of the velocity field, the required number of POD modes is around nine times smaller than the number of Fourier harmonics. The individual POD modes are given and show that the unsteady rotor-stator interaction is already present in the very first modes.

Comparison of mantle lithosphere beneath early Triassic kimberlite fields in Siberian craton reconstructed from deep-seated xenocrysts

mantle xenocrysts from early Triassic kimberlite pipes from Kharamai, Ary-mastakh and Kuranakh fields in the Anabar shield of Siberia revealing similar compositional trends were studied to estimate the superplume influence on the subcratonic lithosphere mantle （SCLm）. Pressure-temperature （PT） reconstructions using monomineral thermobarometry for 5 phases show division of the SCLm beneath the Kharamai field into 6 units： pyroxenitic Fe-rich （1-2 GPa） and mg-rich （2-3 GPa） layers; middle with two levels of Gar-Sp pyroxenites at - 3 and 4-5 GPa; Gar-dunite-harzburgites - 4.5-6.5 GPa subjected to llm-Px vein metasomatism; and a mg-rich dunite lower part. in the Anabar shield （Ary-mastakh, Dyuken and Kuranakh fields） mantle lithosphere is composed of three large units divided into two parts： upper part with amphiboles and phlogopite; two levels of pyroxenites and eclogites at 3 and 4 GPa, and a lower part composed of refertilized dunites. Diagrams showing P-Fe#Gar clusters for garnets and omphacites illustrate the differences between SCLm of these localities. Differences of Triassic SCLm from Devonian SCLm are in simple layering; abundance of na-Cr-amphiboles and metasomatism in the upper SCLm part, thick pyroxenite-eclogite layer and lower part depletion, heated from SCLm base to 5.0 GPa. Kharamai mantle clinopyroxenes represent three geochemical types：（1） harzburgitic with inclined linear REE, HFSE troughs and elevated Th, U; （2） lherzolitic or pyroxenitic with round TRE patterns and decreasing incompatible elem.nts; （3） eclogitic with Eu troughs, Pb peak and high LiLE content. Calculated parental melts for garnets with humped REE patterns suggest dissolution of former Cpx and depression means Cpx and garnets extraction. Clinopyroxenes from Ary-mastakh fields show less in- dined REE patterns with HmREE troughs and an increase of incompatible elem.nts. Clinopyroxenes from Kuranakh field show flatter spoon-like REE patterns and peaks in Ba, U, Pb and St, similar to th
