In present work,a novel crack-free Al-Cu-mg-Si-Ti alloy with synchronous improved tensile properties and hot-cracking resistance was proposed and successfully manufactured by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).The microstructure evolution behaviors and the corresponding strengthening mechanisms were investigated in *** LPBF-processed Al-Cu-mg-Si-Ti alloy presents a heterogeneous microstructure consisting of ultrafine equiaxed grains(UFGs)at the boundary and coarse columnar grains(CGs)at the center of the single molten ***-precipitated d022-Al 3 Ti particles were found to act as the nuclei to refine the grains at the boundary of the molten pool during solidification process,which is attributed to the low cooling rate providing the sufficient incubation time for the precipitation of d022-Al 3 *** are two orientation relationships(ORs)betweenα-Al and d022-Al 3 Ti,i.e.[001]α-Al//[001]d022-Al3Ti,(200)α-Al//(200)d022-Al3Ti and[1¯1¯2]α-Al//[¯111]d022-Al3Ti,(1¯11)α-Al//(¯11¯2)d022-Al3Ti,which are two of the eight ORs predicted with the E2em *** grains in present alloy,no matter for UFGs or CG,exhibited high critical hot-cracking stress,which means a strong hot-cracking ***-nanoprecipitation of Cu-,mg-,and Si-rich Q’and S’phases was introduced to enhance the mechanical performance ofα-Al *** as-built sample exhibits superior tensile properties,with the yield strength(YS)of 473±8 mPa,ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of 541±2 mPa and elongation(EI)of 10.9%±1.2%.

A comparative study of two methods for treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in the emergency department

Introduction: Posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV) is considered the mostcommon cause of peripheral vertigo in the emergency department (Ed). Although the canalith repositioning maneuver (CRm) is the standard of care, the most effective method to deliver it in the Ed hasbeen poorly ***: To compare two protocols of the Epley maneuver for the treatment of *** and methods: We prospectively recruited 101 patients with unilateral PC-BPPV on physical examination, randomizing them to either a single Epley maneuver (em) (n ¼ 46) or multiple maneuvers(n ¼ 55) on the same visit. measured outcomes included presence/absence of positional nystagmus,resolution of vertigo, and score on the dizziness handicap inventory (dHI) at follow-up evaluations. ThedHI was stratified into mild ( 30) and moderate-severe (>30).Results: normalization of the dix-Hallpike maneuver at day 5 was observed in 38% of the single emgroup and 44.4% in the multiple em group (p ¼ 0.62). The dHI showed reduction from 42.2 (Sd 18.4) to31.9 (Sd 23.7) in the single em group and from 43.7 (Sd 22.9) to 33.5 (Sd 21.5) in the multiple em group(p ¼ 0.06). A higher number of patients improved from moderate-severe to mild dHI (p ¼ 0.03) in thesingle em group compared to the multi-em group (p ¼ 0.23).Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between performing a single em versusmultiple ems for treatment of PC-BPPV in the emergency department. The single em approach isassociated with shorter physical contact between patients and examiner, which is logically safer in apandemic context.

The use of biochar can have several effects on plant germination,depending on raw material,preparation method and application ***,the molecular mechanisms that lead to those results have yet to be *** aim of this research was to improve the understanding of these mechanisms by characterizing the metabolic effects of sugarcane bagasse biochar on soybean *** types of biochars were prepared by pyrolysis at 300℃(SCB300),400℃(SCB400)and 600℃(SCB600).Then,each one was mixed into sand at 1%,3%,5%(w/w)dose,*** experiment was performed in 8 days of incubation,when the number of germinated seeds and the average radicle length were *** evaluate the metabolome,the dry biomass(dB)was subjected to extraction with a mixture of methanol-d4 and d2O(1:1 v/v).The extracts were submitted to metabolomics analysis by Proton nuclear magnetic *** Relative Germination,Relative Average Radicle Growth and Germination Index increased in all treatments compared to *** the other hand,the dB increased in all treatments,except for SCB300,at doses of 1%and 3%w/*** metabolites(alanine,asparagine,acetic acid,citric acid,glycerol,fatty acids and sucrose)were identified and quantified in dB extracts as the most influential finding for the separation of *** together,these results strongly suggested that biochars accelerated the catabolism of triacylglycerols to sucrose and induced a slight osmotic stress.

Timing of Proterozoic magmatism in the Sunsas belt, Bolivian Precambrian Shield, SW Amazonian Craton

We present new U–Pb zircon and monazite ages from the Sunsas belt granitic magmatism in Bolivia, SW Amazonian Craton. The geochronological results revealed four major magmatic events recorded along the Sunsas belt domains. The older igneous event formed a granitic basement coeval to the Rio Apa Terrane(1.95–1.85 Ga) in the southern domain. The second magmatic episode is represented by 1.68 Ga granites associated to the Paraguá Terrane(1.69–1.66 Ga) in the northern domain. The 1.37–1.34 Ga granites related to San Ignacio orogeny represent the third and more pervasive magmatic event, recorded throughout the Sunsas belt. moreover, magmatic ages of ~1.42 Ga revealed that the granitogenesis associated to the Santa Helena orogeny also affected the Sunsas belt, indicating that it was not restricted to the Jauru Terrane. Lastly, the 1.10–1.04 Ga youngest magmatism was developed during the Sunsas orogeny and represents the final magmatic evolution related to Rodinia assembly. Likewise, the 1.95–1.85 and 1.68 Ga inherited zircon cores obtained in the ~1.3 Ga and 1.0 Ga granite samples suggest strong partial melting of the Paleoproterozoic sources. The 1079 ± 14 ma and 1018 ± 6 ma monazite crystallization ages can be correlated to the collisional tectono-thermal event of the Sunsas orogeny, associated to reactions of medium-to high-grade metamorphism. Thus, the Sunsas belt was built by heterogeneous 1.95–1.85 Ga and 1.68 Ga crustal fragments that were reworked at 1.37–1.34 Ga and 1.10–1.04 Ga related to orogenic collages. Furthermore, the 1.01 Ga monazite age suggests that granites previously dated by zircon can bear evidence of a younger thermal history. Therefore, the geochronological evolution of the Sunsas belt may have been more complex than previously thought.

natural rubber latex is n>the white liquid in the form of the colloidal dispersion of rubber globules suspended in the aqueous liquid. Produced in large quantities in Ivory Coast, the local transformation of natural latex has so far remained insignificant, although some attempts have been made to use it in the manufacture of flexible facade briquettes for rounded walls. Thus, this study aims to incorporate clay as a filler in natural latex for use as an adhesive for tile installation. To do this, different proportions of clay paste were added to the natural latex and the resulting mixtures were used to make the sample and tile adhesive. From the analysis of the results obtained, it appears that the samples with a clay paste density of 0.8 and 1 absorb less water and shown>s good pull-out strength. The mixtures of 30% and 35% latex and 0.8 and 1 clay paste density respectively have pullout stresses greater than 1 N/mm2. According ton>dana;"> nF En 1348, these adhesives can therefore be used as tile adhesive.

microorganisms have the ability to produce several metabolites, which are widely used in biotechnological processes, including the biological catalysts called enzymes. Among these enzymes, lipases are favored because they perform various catalytic reactions such as hydrolysis, esterification, interesterification and transesterification. This work sought to isolate filamentous fungi from samples collected in diamantina, minas Gerais, Brazil, analyze their macroscopic morphological characteristics, determine the effect of temperature on their growth, and verify which organisms are potential lipase producers. From four collection sites, nine fungi were isolated from the leaves and soil of the jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) tree and three fungi from the Andu bean leaves (Cajanus cajan). The macroscopic morphological characteristics of the microorganisms were analyzed. For thermophilic analysis, the twelve isolated fungi and eight obtained from the laboratory bank were cultivated in a solid Potato-Dextrose-Agar medium from 30°C to 50°C, with intervals of 5°C. The growth rate per hour after 48 hours of development was calculated. For the selection of filamentous lipase-producing fungi, the 20 fungi were cultivated in solid BDA medium at 30n style="font-family:Verdana;">°C for 96 hours, and the enzyme index was calculated. It was found that, of the 20 microorganisms, 95% developed at 30°C, and the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, PJ8 and PJ7. At 35°C, 70% of the fungi developed, and the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, mB2.2 and P3. Correlations for the extension of a water vapor jet injected in a liquid pool were historically proposed considering the mass flux (kg/m2/s) as a constant. The results were satisfactory, however adjusting the values by linear regression. Although, it presents the following drawbacks: 1) the formulation is only valid for the specific range of data for what it was created;2) it does not allow the analytical evaluation of the heat transfer coefficient from the extension equation. This paper proposes a new formulation for the calculation of the mass flux, in such a way to remove both of these drawbacks.

Seepage Investigation on an Existing dam Using Very Low Frequency Electromagnetic (VLF-em) methods: A Case Study of Shagari Earth dam, Sokoto, north Western nigeria

Very low frequency (VLF-em) was used to assess variations in overburden composition, bedrock lithology and the hidden Sedimentary structures within the foundation of Shagari dam of the sedimentary basin of northwestern nigeria. Four VLF-electromagnetic (em) traverses were occupied at 10 m in-tervals. The VLF normal and filtered real component irregularities identify major geological interfaces suspected to be faults/fractured zones. The points of crossover between the real and imaginary components delineate the fractured zones, which were identified as areas of possible seepage (sloughing and piping). The fractured zones are suspected to be present at all traverses. In total, 38 fractured zones were identified along the dam embankment and canal site, while 17 major fractures occurrence dippers along the Traverses at a point, Traverse 1 (F3, F4, F5, F7, F10, F11), Traverse 2 (F12, F13, F21, F22), Traverse 3 (F23, F24, F29) and Traverse 4 (F32, F33, F34, F38), and coincide with cross over point at 4 traverses. These seepage zones cause heterogeneity in the sub-surface structure that could be prime to dam failure which in turn leads to the flooding, decreases in irrigations activities of the peoples leaving around the dam and loss of several hundreds of life when care not taken. The result of the study suggests that VLF is suitable for observing seepages in embankment dams.
