Fibers are increasingly in demand for a wide range of polymer composite *** study^purpose was the development of oil palm fiber(OPF)mixed with the thermoplastic material acrylonitrile butadiene styrene(ABS)as a composite filament for fused deposition modeling(FDM).The mechanical properties of this composite filament were then *** is a fiber extracted from empty fruit bunches,which has proved to be an excellent raw material for *** cellulose content of OPF is 43%-65%,and the lignin content is 13%-25%.The composite lilament consists of OPF(5%,mass fraction)in the ABS *** fabrication procedure included alkalinizing,drying,and crushing the OPF to develop the *** OPF/ABS materials were prepared and completely blended to acquire a mix of 250 g of the material for the ***,the FLD25 filament extrusion machine was used to form the OPF/ABS composite into a *** composite filament then was used in an FDM-based 3D printer to print the ***,the printed specimens were tested for mechanical properties such as tensile and flexural *** results show that the presence of OPF had increased the tensile strength and modulus elasticity by approximately 1.9%and 1.05%,***,the flexural strength of the OPF/ABS composite had decreased by 90.6%compared with the virgin ***,the most significant outcome of the OPF/ABS composite was its suitability for printing using the FDM method.

External Parameters Affecting on the Photoluminescence of InAs Spherical Layer Quantum Dot

Spherical layer quantum dots (SLQDs) attract a great deal of importance, and have various optoelectronics applications due to their outstanding optical and electrical properties. The photoluminescence (PL) and the electroluminescence (EL) spectra of InAs (SLQDs) were investigated theoretically under the presence of external parameters (pressure, temperature, electric field). Existing of both the temperature and the applied electric field lead to a significant decrease in photoluminescence peak energy (red-shift), while an increase existed in presence of applied hydrostatic pressure (blue-shift). Also with increasing the quantum azimuthal number the photoluminescence peak energy increase. In addition, we found no effect on the band shape of the luminescence as a result of existing such parameters. The study indicates the importance of such parameters as fitting parameters for photoluminescence spectra.

A New Species of Amsassia from the Ordovician of Korea and South China:Paleobiological and Paleogeographical Significance

A new species of the probable calcareous alga Amsassia, A. koreanensis, is recognized from the Duwibong Formation （Middle Ordovician, Darriwilian） of the Taebaeksan Basin in mid-eastern Korea. This is the first report of the genus from the Korean Peninsula, expanding its geographical range to the eastern Sino-Korean Block. The new species also occurs in the Xiazhen Formation （Upper Ordovician, Katian） at Zhuzhai in the South China Block. Amsassia koreanensis is the smallest species of this modular genus, having a maximum module diameter of 0.28 ram. Module increase is by bipartite, tripartite and quadripartite types of longitudinal axial fission, but unlike other species of the genus, quadripartite fission is common. The types of fission are comparable to those in some Tetradiida （now Prismostylales, florideophycean rhodophyte algae）, although the processes of fission are different. The distribution of A. koreanensis further strengthens the biogeographical connection between the Sino-Korean and South China blocks, suggesting that these two paleocontinents were located closer together during the Middle to Late Ordovician than previously speculated.

Repair of a mal-repaired biliary injury:A case report

Iatrogenic bile-duct injury post-laparoscopic cholecystectomy remains a major serious complication with unpredictable long-term results. We present a patient who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, in which the biliary injury was recognized intraoperatively. The surgical procedure was converted to an open one. The first surgeon repaired the injury over a T-tube without recognizing the anatomy and type of the biliary lesion, which led to an unusual biliary mal-repair. Immediately postoperatively, the abdominal drain brought a large amount of bile. A T-tube cholangiogram was performed. Despite the contrast medium leaking through the abdominal drain, the mal-repair was recognized intraoperatively. The surgical procedure was converted to an open one. The first surgeon repaired the injury over a T-tube without recognizing the anatomy and type of the biliary lesion, which led to an unusual biliary mal-repair. Immediately postoperatively, the abdominal drain brought a large amount of bile. A T-tube cholangiogram was performed. Despite the contrast medium leaking through the abdominal drain, the mal-repair was unrecognized. The patient was referred to our hospital for biliary leak. Ultrasound and cholangiography was repeated, which showed an unanatomical repair （right to left hepatic duct anastomosis over the T-tube）,with evidence of contrast medium coming out through the abdominal drain. Eventually the patient was subjected to a definitive surgical treatment. The biliary continuity was re-established by a Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy, over transanastomotic external biliary stents. The patient is now doing well 4 years after the second surgical procedure. In reviewing the literature, we found a similar type of injury but we did not find a similar surgical real-repair. We propose an algorithm for the treatment of early and late biliary injuries.

Efficient genome editing in grapevine using CRISPR/LbCas12a system

Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/Cas12a system,also known as CRISPR/Cpf1,has been successfully harnessed for genome engineering in many plants,but not in grapevine *** we developed and demonstrated the efficacy of CRISPR/Cas12a from Lachnospiraceae bacterium ND2006(LbCas12a)in inducing targeted mutagenesis by targeting the tonoplastic monosaccharide transporter1(TMT1)and dihydroflavonol-4-reductase 1(DFR1)genes in 41B *** of DFR1 gene altered flavonoid accumulation in dfr1 mutant *** treatment(34℃)improved the editing efficiencies of CRISPR/LbCas12a system,and the editing efficiencies of TMT1-crRNA1 and TMT1-crRNA2 increased from 35.3%to 44.6%and 29.9%to 37.3%after heat treatment,***,the sequences of crRNAs were found to be predominant factor affecting editing efficiencies irrespective of the positions within the crRNA array designed for multiplex genome *** addition,genome editing with truncated crRNAs(trucrRNAs)showed that trucrRNAs with 20 nt guide sequences were as effective as original crRNAs with 24 nt guides in generating targeted mutagenesis,whereas trucrRNAs with shorter regions of target complementarity≤18 nt in length may not induce detectable mutations in 41B *** these results provide evidence for further applications of CRISPR/LbCas12a system in grapevine as a powerful tool for genome engineering.

The primary technique used for air traffic surveillance is ***,nowadays,its role in surveillance is gradually being replaced by the recently adopted Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast(ADS-B).ADS-B offers a higher accuracy,lower power consumption,and longer range than radar,thus providing more safety to *** coverage of terrestrial radar and ADS-B is confined to continental parts of the globe,leaving oceans and poles uncovered by real-time surveillance *** study presents an optimized Low-Earth Orbit(LEO)-based ADS-B constellation for global air traffic surveillance over intercontinental trans-oceanic flight *** optimization algorithm is based on performance evaluation parameters,i.e.,coverage time,satellite availability,and orbit stability(precession and perigee rotation),and communication *** results indicate that the constellation provides ample coverage in the simulated global oceanic *** constellation is a feasible and cost-effective solution for global air supervision,which can supplement terrestrial ADS-B and radar systems.

Key factors contributing to crash severity at highway-rail grade crossings

The purpose of this paper is to develop and com- pare the preferred multinomial logit （MNL） and ordered logit （ORL） model in identifying factors that are important in making an injury severity difference and exploring the impact of such explanatory variables on three different severity levels of vehicle-related crashes at highway-rail grade crossings （HRGCs） in the United States. Vehicle-rail crash data on USDOT highway-rail crossing inventory and public crossing sites from 2005 to 2012 are used in this study. Preferred MNL and ORL models are developed and marginal effects are also calculated and compared. A majority of the variables have shown similar effects on the probability of the three different severity levels in both models. In addition, based on the Akaike information criterion, it is found that the MNL model is better than the ORL model in predicting the vehicle crash severity levels on HRGCs in this study. Therefore, the researchers recommend the use of MNL model in predicting severity levels of vehicle-rail crashes on HRGCs.

Minimizing Complementary Pivots in a Simplex-Based Solution Method for a Quadratic Programming Problem

The paper presents an approach for avoiding and minimizing the complementary pivots in a simplex based solution method for a quadratic programming problem. The linearization of the problem is slightly changed so that the simplex or interior point methods can solve with full speed. This is a big advantage as a complementary pivot algorithm will take roughly eight times as longer time to solve a quadratic program than the full speed simplex-method solving a linear problem of the same size. The strategy of the approach is in the assumption that the solution of the quadratic programming problem is near the feasible point closest to the stationary point assuming no constraints.
