Pollen development is a critical step in plant development that is needed for successful breeding and seed formation. Manipulation of male fertility has proved a useful trait for hybrid breeding and increased crop yield. However, although there is a good understanding developing of the molecular mechanisms of anther and pollen anther development in model species, such as Arabidopsis and rice, little is known about the equivalent processes in important crops. Nevertheless the onset of increased genomic information and genetic tools is facilitating translation of information from the models to crops, such as barley and wheat; this will enable increased understanding and manipulation of these pathways for agricultural improvement.

Parameter setting for evolutionary algorithms is still an important issue in evolutionary computation. There are two main approaches to parameter setting： parameter tuning and parameter control. In this paper, we introduce self-adaptive parameter control of a genetic algorithm based on Bayesian network learning and simulation. The nodes of this Bayesian network are genetic algorithm parameters to be controlled. Its structure captures probabilistie conditional （in）dependence relationships between the parameters. They are learned from the best individuals, i.e., the best configurations of the genetic algorithm. Individuals are evaluated by running the genetic algorithm for the respective parameter configuration. Since all these runs are time-consuming tasks, each genetic algorithm uses a small-sized population and is stopped before convergence. In this way promising individuals should not be lost. Experiments with an optimal search problem for simultaneous row and column orderings yield the same optima as state-of-the-art methods but with a sharp reduction in computational time. Moreover, our approach can cope with as yet unsolved high-dimensional problems.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the sperm viability of semen infected with PRRSV viral particles, observing the effect of the Virus on the motility of boar sperm. The work was carried out at the FMVZ-BUAP Genetics and Reproduction Laboratory. 5 stallions were used. Each sample contained 1 × 106 sperm, the PRRS virus strain was ATCC-VR-2332 (0, 102, 104 and 106 copies of RNA/mL in triplicate), it was observed daily at the CASA;Hamilton Thorne®. Cells with MT (P 2 and 10X6 (P 2) 162.81 ± 10.65 and (106) 177.12 ± 5.77 vs 193.04 ± 4.62 of control. This indicates that altering these parameters would be related to fertility and the PRRS virus affects the LCV. Regarding the VSL, it was observed that the sperm infected with viruses 102, 104 and 106 of 48.00 ± 3.38, 49.88 ± 1.83 and 50.55 ± 2.24 Vs. 56.66 ± 1.68 of control respectively, the control would have greater possibilities of fertilizing the oocyte. In this study, it was found (P ≤ 0.01) in the VAP with 102 of 77.26 ± 5.16, 104 with 83.35 ± 2.41 and 106 with 81.29 ± 3.14 vs the control with 90.56 ± 2.07. Regarding the ALH there is (P 4 with 8.70 ± .26 and 106 with 9.64 ± 0.23 vs control 8.50 ± 0.27. AIM： To describe the trend in duodenal biopsy performance during routine upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in an adult Spanish population, and to analyze its value for the diagnosis of celiac disease in clinical practice. METHODS： A 15 year-trend （1990 to 2004） in duodenal biopsy performed when undertaking upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was studied. We analysed the prevalence of celiac disease in the overall group, and in the subgroups with anaemia and/or chronic diarrhoea. RESULTS： Duodenal biopsy was performed in 1033 of 13 678 upper gastrointestinal endoscopies （7.6%）; an increase in the use of such was observed over the study period （1.9% in 1990-1994, 5% in 1995-1999 and 12.8% in 2000-2004）. Celiac disease was diagnosed in 22 patients （2.2%）, this being more frequent in women than in men （3% and 1% respectively）. Fourteen out of 514 （2.7%） patients with anaemia, 12 out of 141 （8.5%） with chronic diarrhoea and 8 out of 42 （19%） with anaemia plus chronic diarrhoea had celiac disease. A classical clinical presentation was observed in 55% of the cases, 23% of the patients had associated dermatitis herpetiformis and 64% presented anaemia; 9% were diagnosed by familial screening and 5% by cryptogenetic hypertransaminasaemia. CONCLUSION： Duodenal biopsy undertaken during routine upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in adults, has been gradually incorporated into clinical practice, and is a useful tool for the diagnosis of celiac disease in high risk groups such as those with anaemia and/or chronic diarrhoea.

Duplex stainless steels（DSSs） are widely used in industry for their desirable properties. Any fusion welding technique modifies the microstructure and, consequently, the properties of the material. This paper presents a parametric study of the variables that determine the energy contribution（current, voltage and welding speed） and the structural modifications produced during gas metal arc welding. The analysis comprises metallographic study,phase balance, dimensioning of the weld beads and tensile and hardness tests. The influence of the variables studied on the thermal cycles obtained（temperatures reached and cooling rate） was determined by using a finite element model. The results showed that, in addition to the indicated parameters, the parameter power transfer per volume（W/m3） and the geometry in the bead must be controlled due to their influence on the heat flow distribution and phase balance.

Future Geo SAR missions are expected to provide higher resolution radar images featuring shorter revisit times by locating a radar payload on-board of a geostationary satellite. One of the main challenges in Geo SAR processing is accurately determining the satellite orbit to obtain a precise phase history, in order to properly focus the retrieved data. To tackle this challenge, a multiple baseline ground-based interferometer is proposed as a compact and reliable method to achieve an unprecedented accuracy. As a proof of concept, this paper presents the results obtained from a single baseline prototype, whose results can be extrapolated to a larger system, able to be used in future missions.

This paper presents a compilation of recent U-Pb （zircon） ages of late Carboniferous-early Permian （LC EP） calc-alkaline batholiths from lberia, together with a petrogenetic interpretation of magma generation based on comparisons with Mesozoic and Tertiary Cordilleran batholiths and experimental melts. Zircon U-Pb ages distributed over the range ca. 315-280 Ma, indicate a linkage between calc-alkaline magmatism, Iberian orocline generation and Paleotethys subduction. It is also shown that Iberian LC-EP calcalkaline batholiths present unequivocal subduction-related features comparable with typical Cordilleran batholiths of the Pacific Americas active margin, although geochemical features were partially obscured by local modifications of magmas at the level of emplacement by country rock assimilation. When and how LC-EP calc-alkaline batholiths formed in Iberia is then discussed, and a new and somewhat controversial interpretation for their sources and tectonic setting （plume-assisted relamination） is suggested. The batholiths are proposed to have formed during the subduction of the Paleotethys oceanic plate （Pangaea self-subduction） and, consequently, they are unrelated to Variscan collision. The origin of the Iberian batholiths is related to the Eurasian active margin and probably represents the inception of a Paleotethvan arc in the core of Pangaea.
