Numerical analysis of the free convection coupled heat and mass transfer is presented for non-Newtonian power-law fluids with the yield stress flowing over a two-dimensional or axisymmetric body of an arbitrary shape in a fluid-saturated porous medium. The governing boundary layer equations and boundary conditions are cast into a dimensionless form by the similarity transformation. The resulting system of equations is solved by a finite difference method. The parameters studied are the rheological constants, the buoyancy ratio, and the Lewis number. Representative velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles are presented and discussed. It is found that the results depend strongly on the values of the yield stress parameter and the power-law index of the non-Newtonian fluid.

Diabetes mellitus,particularly type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),poses a significant global health *** management strategies primarily focus on glycemic control;however,there is a growing need for comprehensive approaches addressing the complex pathophysiology of diabetes *** recent study by Attia et al explores the potential of a novel therapy combining metformin with cholecalciferol(vitamin D3)and taurine to mitigate T2DM-related complications in a rat *** findings indicate that this treatment combination improves glycemic control and reduces oxidative stress,inflammation,and lipid ***,the study is limited by a lack of safety profile data and in-depth molecular mechanism *** editorial critically highlights the study's strengths and weaknesses,compares it against other combination therapy research in T2DM,and underscores the need to explore further the mechanisms underpinning the observed therapeutic effects and investigate the safety profile of this novel approach.

The complexes of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone with Pd, Cu and Ru were prepared. The prepared complexes were characterized by spectroscopic, element and thermal analyses and D.C. conductivity measurements. The antimicrobial activity of all the prepared compounds against gram-positive, gram-negative and fungi was studied. From these studies, it has been obtained that the ligand is bonded to the metals through O, N and s, but to palladium in [Pd (H//2L//2)] Cl//2 only through N and O. Biological studies confirm that the organic effect on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria is very weak and their complexes have no effect on fungi, but Cu-complex has strong influence on both types of bacteria. Beam-column connections are one of the most critical elements of reinforced concrete structures,especially in seismically active regions,and have been extensively evaluated experimentally and ***,very limited experimental studies about eccentric reinforced concrete connections including the effect of connected slabs are *** study presents the experimental results of two half-scale eccentric beam-column-slab connections subjected to quasi-static cyclic *** horizontal eccentricity(eh)is maintained at 12.5%and 25%of column width(bc)for specimens 1 and 2,*** damage pattern,performance levels,displacement ductility(μD),energy dissipation,and connection strength and stiffness are compared for both specimens,and the effect of eccentricity is *** is concluded that the eccentricity has no significant effect on the lateral load carrying capacity;however,the overall strength degradation increases with the increase in ***,the elastic stiffness of specimen 2 decreased by 14%as the eccentricity increased from 12.5%to 25%;however,the eccentricity had no significant effect on the overall stiffness degradation.μD decreased by 43%,and the energy dissipation capacity decreased by 40%in specimen 2 with higher *** story drifts corresponding to the performance levels of the life safety(Ls)and collapse prevention(CP)were found to be 28%lesser in specimen 2 than in specimen 1.

In this paper,two probabilistic reliability indices are presented to define the effect of clouds on different types of Building Integrated Photovoltaic(BIPV)*** indices do not match the main features of photovoltaic(PV)sources,such as variability,uncertainty and dependency on weather *** addition,they are time indicators that describe the percentage of total failure time per year without any indication about power or energy *** using the available Geographic Information system solar-irradiation database,the proposed indices consider a similar pattern of expected daily solar irradiation as a model of PV *** different models are studied for diverse building loads:an energy model for flexible loads and a constant-power model for critical loads.A comparative study is implemented for six different locations:Cairo,London,Berlin,Beijing,Madrid and ***,three types of BIPV systems are studied:fixed,double-axis-tracking and concentrated PV *** presented results show the effects of clouds,PV type and locations on the system performance.

The synthesis of biological silicon nano-particles(Bio-si-NPs)is an eco-friendly and lowcost *** is no study focusing on the effect of Bio-si-NPs on the plants grown on saline soil contaminated with heavy *** this study,an attempt was made to synthesis Bio-si-NPs using potassium silica florid substrate,and the identified Aspergillus tubingensis AM11 isolate that separated from distribution systems of the potable water.A twoyear field trial was conducted to compare the protective effects of Bio-si-NPs(2.5 and 5.0 mmol/L)and potassium silicate(10 mmol/L)as a foliar spray on the antioxidant defense system,physio-biochemical components,and the contaminants contents of Phaseolus vulgaris *** on saline soil contaminated with heavy *** findings showed that all treatments of Bio-si-NPs and potassium silicate significantly improved plant growth and production,chlorophylls,carotenoids,transpiration rate,net photosynthetic rate,stomatal conductance,membrane stability index,relative water content,free proline,total soluble sugars,N,P,K,Ca2+,K+/Na+,and the activities of peroxidase,catalase,ascorbic peroxidase and superoxide oxide *** of Bio-si-NPs and potassium silicate significantly decreased electrolyte leakage,malondialdehyde,H2 O2,O2·-,Na+,Pb,Cd,and Ni in leaves and pods of Phaseolus vulgaris *** to ***-si-NPs were more effective compared to potassium *** of Bio-si-NPs at the rate of 5 mmol/L was the recommended treatment to enhance the performance and reduce heavy metals content on plants grown on contaminated saline soils.

The free convective heat transfer to the power-law non-Newtonian flow from a vertical plate in a porous medium saturated with nanofluid under laminar conditions is investigated. It is considered that the non-Newtonian nanofluid obeys the mathematical model of power-law. The model used for the nanofluid incorporates the effects of Brown- ian motion and thermophoresis. The partial differential system governing the problem is transformed into an ordinary system via a usual similarity transformation. The numer- ical solutions of the resulting ordinary system are obtained. These solutions depend on the power-law index n, Lewis number Le, buoyancy-ratio number Nr, Brownian motion number Nb, and thermophoresis number Nt. For various values of n and Le, the effects of the influence parameters on the fluid behavior as well as the reduced Nusselt number are presented and discussed.

The effect of chemical reaction on free convection heat and mass transfer for a non-Newtonian power law fluid over a vertical flat plate embedded in a fluid-saturated porous medium has been studied in the presence of the yield stress and the soret effect. The governing boundary layer equations and boundary conditions are cast into a dimen- sionless form by similarity transformations, and the resulting system of equations is solved by a finite difference method. The results are presented and discussed for concentration profiles, as well as the Nusselt number and the sherwood number for various values of the parameters, which govern the problem. The results obtained show that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the presence of the chemical reaction parameter γ the order *** chemical reaction parameter m, the soret number st, the buoyancy ratio N, the Lewis number Le, and the dimensionless rheological parameter Ω.
