BACKGROUND Down syndrome(DS)is one of the most common causes of intellectual *** with DS have varying intelligence quotient(IQ)that can predict their learning *** To assess the brain metabolic profiles of children with DS and compare them to standard controls,using magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS)and correlating the results with *** This case-control study included 40 children with DS aged 6-15 years and 40 age and sex-matched healthy children as *** was used to evaluate ratios of choline/creatine(Cho/Cr),N-acetyl aspartic acid/creatine(NAA/Cr),and myoinositol/creatine(MI/Cr(in the frontal,temporal,and occipital lobes and basal ganglia and compared to controls and correlated with *** Children with DS showed significant reductions in NAA/Cr and MI/Cr and a non-significant reduction in Cho/Cr in frontal lobes compared to ***,we observed significant decreases in NAA/Cr,MI/Cr,and Cho/Cr in the temporal and occipital lobes and basal ganglia in children with DS compared to ***,there was a significant correlation between IQ and metabolic ratios in the brains of children with *** Brain metabolic profile could be a good predictor of IQ in children with DS.

Dolomite apatite separation by amphoteric collector in presence of bacteria

Bioflotation represents one of the growing trends to enhance the selectivity of conventional flotation *** utilizes the micro-organisms to replace or to interact with the chemical reagents to increase the gap between surface properties of similar minerals and to enhance the separation *** this work,dolomite-phosphate separation was investigated using amphoteric collector (dodecyl-N-carboxyethyl-N-hyroxyethyl-imidazoline) in presence of *** types of bacteria,Corynebacteriumdiphtheriae-intermedius (CDI),and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA),were *** collector bacteria interaction was characterized by Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR),frothing height and Zeta *** results show that the collector bacteria interaction improves the flotation ***,the PA positively affects the separation results,the CDI cannot lower the MgO to less than 1%.A phosphate content of 0.7% MgO and 31.77% P2O5 with a recovery of 68% at pH 11,3.0 kg/t amphoteric collector,4×107 cells of PA is obtained.

Microwave Assisted Liberation of High Phosphorus Oolitic Iron Ore

The influence of microwave treatment on the liberation of iron ore from the high phosphorus oolitic iron ore from Aswan region, Egypt was studied. The effect of microwave power, exposure time and grain size on the liberation of iron ore was investigated. The microfractures and cracks of the samples were characterized before and after microwave treatments. The heating rate of high phosphorus oolitic iron ore was studied. Crystallinity of hematite was characterized before and after microwave pretreatment. The results indicated that intergranular fractures formed between the gangues (fluorapatite and chamosite) and hematite after microwave treatment, leading to improved liberation of iron ore and a significant reduction in comminution energy. Percentages of fraction ≤ -0.125 mm increased from 46.6% to 59.76% with increased exposure time from 0 to 60 seconds. The heating rate of iron ore showed that microwave treatment was less efficient at smaller particle sizes for a fixed applied power density. Crystallinity of hematite increased with the microwave exposure time.

Solution of a Nonlinear Delay Differential Equation Using Adomian Decomposition Method with Accelerated Formula of Adomian Polynomial

The aim of this paper is to apply Adomian decomposition method (ADM) for solving some classes of nonlinear delay differential equations (NDDEs) with accelerated Adomian polynomial called El-kalla polynomial proposed by El-kalla [1]. The main advantages of El-kalla polynomials can be summarized in the following main three points: 1) El-kalla polynomials are recursive and do not have derivative terms so, El-kalla formula is easy in programming and save much time on the same processor compared with the traditional Adomian polynomials formula;2) Solution using El-Kalla polynomials converges faster than the traditional Adomian polynomials;3) El-Kalla polynomials used directly in estimating the maximum absolute truncated error of the series solution. Some convergence remarks are studied and some numerical examples are solved using the Adomian decomposition method using the two polynomials (Adomian polynomial and El-kalla polynomial). In all applied cases, we obtained an excellent performance that may lead to a promising approach for many applications.
