AIM: To review gastrointestinal and liver infections in children undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy. To look at gut microflora features in oncology ***: We selected studies published after year 2000, excluding trials on transplanted pediatric patients. We searched English language publications in MEDLINE using the keywords: "gastrointestinal infection AND antineoplastic chemotherapy AND children", "gastrointestinal infection AND oncology AND children", "liver infection AND antineoplastic chemotherapy AND children", "liver abscess AND chemotherapy AND child", "neutropenic enterocolitis AND chemotherapy AND children", "thyphlitis AND chemotherapy AND children", "infectious diarrhea AND children AND oncology", "abdominal pain AND infection AND children AND oncology", "perianal sepsis AND children AND oncology", "colonic pseudo-obstruction A N D o n c o l o g y A N D c h i l d A N D c h e m o t h e r a p y ", "microflora AND children AND malignancy", "microbiota AND children AND malignancy", "fungal flora AND children AND malignancy". We also analysed evidence from several articles and book ***: Gastrointestinal and liver infections represent a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy. Antineoplastic drugs cause immunosuppression in addition to direct toxicity, predisposing to infections, although the specific risk is variable according to disease and host features. Common pathogens potentially induce severe diseases whereas opportunistic microorganisms may attack vulnerable hosts. Clinical manifestations can be subtle and not specific. In addition, several conditions are rare and diagnostic process and treatments are not standardized. Diagnosis may be challenging, however early diagnosis is needed for quick and appropriate interventions. Interestingly, the source of infectionin those children can be exogenous or endogenous. The present paper has mainly the aim to formulate a quantum neurological model of brain dynamics during perception and cognition of ambiguous figures here including the case of the Dalmatian dog. First of all, we summarize our previous experimental and theoretical studies, evidencing as the basic conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics enter in a decisive manner in explaining the basic functions of brain dynamics at perceptive and cognitive level and at the level of our consciousness. This is done in detail in Sections 2 and 3 where we discuss also the role of the so called quantum interference effect and we include here the results of an our recent experiment confirming the role of quantum theory and of its quantum interference effect also at perceptive-cognitive and awareness levels. In Section 4, following our previous study, we consider the so called Mach-Zehnder interferometer. It is a physical device that is employed in quantum mechanical experiments in order to analyze such quantum interference effect. Soon after the discussion of this device, we proceed with the elaboration of a detailed quantum neurological model in the sense that we consider the brain regions identified in V1;V2/V3/V4 and A20 and we obtain that they may behave just as the beam splitters involved in the Mach-Zehnder quantum mechanical interferometer. In this manner, we formulate a model of V1;V2/V3/V4, A20 brain dynamics as a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and such model delineates a proposed neurological mechanism explaining perception-cognition and awareness in humans under the input of ambiguous figures and in the particular case of the Dalmatian dog.

In this work we present a theoretical explanation for the possible anomalous forces induced by superconducting disks and toroids, based on the hypothesis of a preexisting state of generalized quantum entanglement that can produce momentum variation exchanged between Cooper pairs and outer particles. Considering the immense amount of particles involved in the phenomenon as coherent Cooper pairs, and indications of previous studies, we use classical quantities as macroscopic observables in our calculations. We here analyzed the behavior of such superconductors and compared the experimental results early obtained in the literature with our theoretical proposal. We found that the theoretical calculations agreed with very good accuracy for two different experiments and devices. The present work really highlights the possibility of superconducting materials to be applied to induce outer forces in the environment and in external objects, as explained by our theoretical model.

We describe the phenomenon of generation of an external field of forces from piezoelectric materials subjected to the application of electric fields or mechanical stress. We show that piezoelectric materials are capable of producing nonlocal forces of induction in external objects and we conclude that the nature of the forces generated is not originated from traditional interactions. Further we specifically assert that the generation of forces by the piezoelectric materials is ruled by the hypothesis of preexisting condition of generalized quantum entanglement between the molecular structure of the material bulk and the surrounding environment. In addition, the widely spread coupling of the molecules with the environment can be manifested from the so-called direct effect or the converse effect in piezoelectric materials and this coupling is not intermediated by acoustic waves or electromagnetic fields. We show that the novel effect has a theoretical explanation consistent with the generalized quantum entanglement framework and the direction of the induced forces depends on either the direction of the mechanical force or the electric field applied in these materials.

We have applied the Random Matrix Theory in order to examine the validity of the NPT treatment in HSP. We have investigated the pathology examining the sEMG recorded signal for about eight minutes. We have performed standard electromyographic investigations as well as we have applied the RMT method of analysis. We have investigated the sEMG signals before and after the NPT treatment. The application of a so robust method as the RMT evidences that the NPT treatment was able to induce a net improvement of the disease respect to the pathological status before NPT.

Epidemiological, Clinical and Anatomopathological Aspects of Cancers in Central African Republic Children

Objectives: To determine the epidemiological, clinical and anatomopathological aspects of childhood cancer in CAR. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective study carried out from May 2015 to May 2018, at the Center Hospitalier Universitaire Pédiatrique de Bangui (CHUPB). The study population consisted of patients aged under 15 followed in the UHOPB for malignant tumors on clinical, radiological or ultrasound suspicion of malignancy and confirmed or not by histology or biology. A questionnaire was used to collect the data which was analyzed using SPSS11.0 software. Results: During the study period, we collected 107 cases of childhood cancer. The annual hospital incidence was 1.27% in 2016;1.93% in 2017 and 1.50% in 2018 The average monthly frequency of patients followed is 35.66. The intensity of pain assessed in the 99 patients ranged from 02/10 to 09/10 with an average of 5.41/10. The mean duration of the disease was 3.3 months with extremes at 1.2 months and 36 months. A predominance of comorbidity with HIV is 41.66%. Histologically diagnosed malignant tumors are dominated by 30.4% Burkitt’s lymphoma. Conclusion: Data on cancer incidence are scarce in developing countries and for the most part are hospital statistics. In CAR, it will be important to set up a national register for collecting information.

Nickel borides doped with transition metal (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, and Zn) MNiB, 4% w/w respect to Ni were prepared by chemical reduction of nickel and metallic salts in methanol solution with borane-tetrahydrofurane (BH3-THF) complex obtained in aprotic solvent (THF anhydrous). Different techniques were used to characterize these materials. The MNiB amorphous structure was verified by XRD. Thermal treatment in N2 shows Ni°, Ni2 Band NiO phases. Spongy-morphology was evident by SEM studies in all cases. XPS and TEM show that doped and non-doped nickel boride was present as Ni° in metallic state as principal phase and nickel alloying with boron was observed in minor quantities. The oxidation stability, magnetic susceptibility and catalytic effect are correlated with parameters of each dopant metal.

Mechanisms and clinical behavior of hepatocellular carcinoma in HBV and HCV infection and alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the main tumor of the liver and is the sixth most frequently diagnosed tumor in the world. It is the evolution of chronic hepatic injury secondary to different etiologies. Chronic hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infection, chronic alcoholic hepatitis, as well as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease are the most common causes behind the development of HCC. The introduction of effective prophylaxis and treatment against hepatitis B, the recent use of highly effective hepatitis C treatments, as well as lifestyle changes observed in recent decades in the general population causing an increase in obesity and metabolic syndrome have led to significant epidemiological change in HCC in relation to the changed etiologic prevalence of liver injury. Increasing evidence was emerging, emphasizing how the development of HCC is a complex and multifactorial process. The knowledge of the molecular mechanisms involved is important for the understanding of the basic factors of the development of hepatocarcinogenesis and of possible therapeutic approaches. Several pathogenic mechanisms and clinical expression of HCC occur in relation to the different etiologies of the underlying liver disease. The different clinical behavior of HCC often makes diagnosis difficult at an early stage, that is necessary for an effective therapeutic approach. This review analyzes the possible different pathogenic mechanisms involved in the development of HCC and emphasizes the different epidemiological and clinical aspects of HCC observed in the most common forms of liver diseases of viral and non-viral origin.
