BACKGROUND Microsatellite instability(MSI)is a predictive biomarker for cancer *** tumor-agnostic nature of MSI makes it a denominator for immunotherapy in several solid *** can be assessed using next-generation sequencing(NGS),fluorescent multiplex PCR,and immunohistochemistry(IHC).CASE SUMMARY Here,we report 3 cases with discordant MSI results detected using different methods.A cholangiocellular carcinoma case revealed proficient mismatch repair(MMR)by IHC but high MSI(MSI-H)by liquid NGS.A cervical cancer case revealed deficient MMR by IHC,microsatellite stable by PCR,and MSI-H by ***,an endometrial cancer case revealed proficient MMR by IHC but MSI-H by *** IHC for MMR status is the first choice due to several ***,in cases of indeterminate IHC results,molecular testing by MSI-PCR is ***,NGS-based MSI assays are being widely used to detect MSI-H *** three methods have high accuracy;however,the inconsistencies between them may lead to misdiagnosis.

Objective: Type 1 diabetes is a chronic illness which can have a negative effect on the health care and development of children and can put their lives in danger. This descriptive study aimed to determine the quality of life and the factors affecting it of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL).Methods: The study was conducted in the Child Endocrinology Unit of a University Hospital in Bursa, Turkey. Totally 64 children eight-12 years and 85 adolescents aged 13-18 with type 1 diabetes and their parents were recruited. HbA1c measurements were obtained from the records of the endocrinology clinicare, which were made once every three months, and the average of the last three measurements was taken in the study. The PedsQL was used to measure quality of life of the children and adolescents. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 20.0 and P<0.05 was considered significant. The demographic data of the children and parents were analyzed using means and percentiles. Pearson's correlation analysis was used to assess the relationship between two averages. Results: Of the sub-groups on the scale, affective and school function scores were somewhat low, and social function scores were high. The quality of life scores of the children and adolescents were found to correlate with those of their parents. A negative correlation was found between HbA1c levels and adolescent quality of life, a positive correlation was found between the child's age and the quality of life of the child and parents, and a negative correlation was found between the number of children in the family and the quality of life of the child and parents. Conclusions: An evaluation of the quality of life after a diagnosis of diabetes can be used to assess the problems which may be faced by children and adolescents and to combat these problems.

In this work, the reflection of the education of women from the social problems in the early republic era when the novel genre was developed will be examined. In the study, in specific early republic era which covers the years 1923-1938, the theme of the education of women in Turkish novel, in general, the reflections of the look into the education of women by the Republic Era Turkey on literature of the era have been studied. The attitude in the novels which criticizes the educational institutes through the educational issues also shows similarities with the look of republic ideology into education. While the mentioned educational institutes of early republic are being systemized, the negative sides of existing educational institutes have been examined. The problems such as the duality in education, the education of the girls, modern, and neighborhood school＇s education together have been studied as subheadings. The goal of the study is to determine the insufficiency of the educational institutes which has become a social problem in Turkish novel with respect to the term novels. Within this respect, while the introduction part describes the conditions of the era on education, the part which constitutes the basic of the work, the education problem in the novels dealing with the education of women has been expressed with novel heroes.

In contemporary Turkish art, topics or items considered obscene by society are being carried out by a number of artists with protest, agitation, anti-propaganda, or strike purposes. Issues that are often seen in social life such as domestic violence, honour killings, rape, gender discrimination, intolerance against minority groups generate some artists＇ main theme in their work. Certain circles do not show any reaction to such social wounds, or even support. These circles that have no discomfort in the existence of these wounds get disturbed when they face these social realities through artistic activities. These artists are subject to threats or even physical attacks by such groups. In this paper, Turkish artists, namely Sukran Moral, Taner Ceylan, and Nezaket Ekici who make use of such obscene scenes in their works, will be analyzed including their performances, reactions, and attitudes toward threats and attacks.

AIM:Toevaluatetheroleofumbilical cord blood serum(CBS) therapy in cases with persistent corneal epithelial defects(PED).METHODS:Sixteen eyes of 14 patients with PED who were resistant to conventional treatment were treated with 20% umbilical cord serum eye drops. Patients were followed-up weekly until epithelization was *** collected data included the grade of corneal lesion(Grade I: epithelial defect +superficial vascularization,Grade II: epithelial defect +stromal edema, Grade III:corneal ulcer +stromal melting), the size of epithelial defect(pretreatment, 7th, 14 thand 21stdays of treatment),and follow-up time was evaluated ***:The mean size of epithelial defect on two perpendicular axes was 5.2×4.6-mm2(range: 2.5-8 mm×2.2-9 mm2). Mean duration of treatment was 8.3 ±*** therapy was effective in 12 eyes(75%) and ineffective in 4 eyes(25%). The epithelial defects in 4ineffective eyes were healed with amniotic membrane transplantation and tarsorrhaphy. The rate of complete healing was 12.5% by 7d, 25% by 14 d, and 75% by 21 *** healing time was prolonged in Grade III eyes in comparison to eyes in Grade I or Grade ***:The results of the current study indicated the safety effectiveness of CBS drops in the management of PED. The grade of disease seems have a role on the healing time.

Turkish artisanal Tulum cheese is a traditional raw milk cheese and starter cultures are not used for ripening *** this study,16S rRNA amplicon-based sequencing approach was used for determining bacterial diversity in Tulum *** volatile organic compound(VOC)profile which contributes to sensory properties of the cheeses was determined via solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS/SPME)and correlated with the *** Tulum cheese samples,Lactobacillaceae(30,71%)phylum widely varied but Streptococcaceae(59,86%)was *** mainly belongs to the four dominant genera of lactic acid bacteria(LAB)and includes Lactobacillus,Lactococcus,Streptococcus and *** bacterial diversity of TC5 sample was much higher than that of other ***,several species of non-starter LAB were frequently detected.A total of 36 volatile compounds were identified including hydrocarbons(3),acids(13),alcohols(5),ketones(3),aldehydes(3),esters(8)and miscellaneous compound(1).Pentadecanoic acid,octadecanoic acid,tetradecanoic acid,octanoic acid,hexanoic acid were determined to be dominant in all cheese samples and to be related to microbial ***,the sensory profiles of the samples were *** most popular TC6 did not contain 2-butanone and hexanal from the volatile organic compound(VOC)values,while in the most unpopular TC3,2-butanone(7.73%)and hexanal(5.95%)were found to be the *** outcome of this study will contribute to literature on bacterial diversity and aromatic profile of Tulum cheese which should be investigated in order to improve quality and safety.
